Randi Zuckerberg, the sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, got caught up in a debate about the handling of a private photo posted on the social media site after a family snapshot she thought she had only shared with friends made its way onto Twitter. The photo showed the Zuckerberg clan joyfully reacting to Facebook’s new Poke app. Zuckerberg, Facebook’s former head of marketing, claimed she had only shared the photo with her friends via the social media site. However the snapshot went public after Callie Schweitzer, a representative for Internet media firm Vox Media, reposted the shot on Twitter....
  • School Obama's Daughters Attend Has 11 Armed Guards [school employees - not secret service]

Some interesting news has broken in the wake of the latest push for gun control by President Obama and Senate Democrats: Obama sends his kids to a school where armed guards are used as a matter of fact. The school, Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC, has 11 security officers and is seeking to hire a new police officer as we speak. If you dismiss this by saying, "Of course they have armed guards -- they get Secret Service protection," then you've missed the larger point. The larger point is that this is standard operating procedure for the school, period....

In 1996, John Ross penned what has become a classic story of what might happen when the federal government oversteps its bounds and clamps down too hard on guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans. So chilling is the story, so graphic in its descriptions of how some Americans might fight back, that Mr. Ross and his wife were hounded and intimidated by federal authorities. Yet the title of his novel speaks loudly about what the gun-grabbers can expect when they legislate from emotion rather than fact. There, in Unintended Consequences, many of them lost their fictional lives. Here, in...

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — To prepare for her new job as Connecticut's newest member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Elizabeth Esty went back to Harvard. Along with 46 of her new colleagues, Esty spent four days earlier this month at the Bipartisan Program for Newly Elected Members of Congress, run by Harvard University's Institute of Politics. Esty, who is 53, graduated from Harvard in 1981. Since then, the Democrat from Cheshire has held many titles: law clerk, attorney, stay-at-home mom, PTA member, town councilor and state representative.
  • What Are Your Recommendations for Starbucks Coffee Cup Messages to Congress?

Starbucks has ANNOUNCED that every cup of its coffee sold in the Washington D.C. area will have a message to Congress regarding the fiscal cliff written on then: "Come Together."Of course, the CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz, is a liberal Obama supporter. What he really means is do what the president wants. Anyway, if you had the power to have a message written on coffee cups (not necessarily Starbucks) in the Washington D.C. area, what would it be. I'll lead off: 1. Read the DAMN bills before you vote on them! 2. Do NOT pass bills in order to find...

Republican senators will refuse to confirm Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., as Secretary of State until the nation’s current top diplomat, Hillary Clinton, testifies about her handling of the Benghazi terrorist attack. “The Senate is expected to take up Kerry’s nomination in early January, but multiple Republican senators have already said they won’t agree to a vote on Kerry’s nomination until Clinton testifies about the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi,” The Cable’s Josh Rogin notes. Clinton backed out of testifying at a congressional hearing last week after fainting and suffering a concussion. She was the first cabinet-level...

At Christmas we celebrate Jesus’ birth because no more important human being has ever been born. Jesus is the first-born of all creation, the one individual for whom everything else exists. Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords, who will rule the coming age as our sovereign ruler. Jesus is more than just a man; he is the translation of the very nature and sovereignty of God Himself into human form—the image of the invisible God, the fullness of God dwelling in human form. Jesus is the supreme prophet, the one whom God sent into the world to...

'Nothing short of armed teachers will protect children' At Sandy Hook Elementary, 26 people were killed, including 20 schoolchildren aged 6 and 7, by a lone 20-year-old assailant. Soft targets are far easier to attack than a “hard” target that may be under heavy guard. As a consequence, would-be perpetrators will go where it will be easier to make their violent statement for maximum effect, experts say. In addition to schools and shopping malls, other soft targets include high-profile businesses, hotels, casinos, transportation facilities, airports and venues where there may be large audiences, such as theaters. John Farnam, a nationally...
  • Targeting of Israel civilians violates war laws: HRW

Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip "violated the laws of war" by firing rockets at populated areas in Israel during an eight-day flare up last month, Human Rights Watch said on Monday. Citing Israeli army figures, HRW said that approximately "1,500 rockets were fired at Israel between November 14 and 21," of which "at least 800 struck Israel, including 60 that hit populated areas." These attacks "killed three Israeli civilians, wounded at least 38, several seriously, and destroyed civilian property," HRW said, noting that there were also rockets fired from Gaza "that fell short of their intended targets in Israel...

Earlier today I went to the grocery store. Upon entering the store I was faced with a person selling subscriptions to The Patriot News (Harrisburg, PA's local paper).I was asked if I wanted to get home delivery and I simply laughed and said, "I am not interested in buying that liberal rag. It went to single edition some years ago, and beginning Jan. 1, they will print only three days a week. I stopped going to their...

Banning any or all types of guns means that only criminals will have all the guns. Monumentally stupid idea!! Women with children who go off the deep end over gun control should have their big SUV's confiscated because big SUV's cause more accident injuries because of their size and weight. Tons of laws against rape, child molestation, etc. and we even have public lists of registered sex offenders. All of that and it has done nothing to stop sex offenders from repeating the crimes.

...the message of Bereshith is the obvious one of family and its importance. The Torah purposely and in minute detail describes for us how difficult it truly is to create and maintain a cohesive family structure. Every one of the generations described in Bereshith from Kayin and Hevel till Yosef and his brothers is engaged in the difficult and often heartbreaking task of family building. There are no smooth and trouble free familial relationships described in the book of Bereshith. Sibling rivalry, violence, different traits of personality, and marital and domestic strife are the stuff of the biblical narrative of...
