The truth is we need real professionals to implement security devices and techniques in our schools to at least make it more difficult for homicidal maniacs to ply their trade in our schools. Arming teachers who are capable and have the guts to confront evil, perhaps even paying them more to attend seminars to train in procedures, would be a first step in making our schools more secure. I am talking about seminars taught by professional SWAT and Special Forces instructors, not incompetent boobs like Janet Napolitano. We can’t prevent school shootings, but we can damn well minimize the damage...

Curtis Diles (left), with a friend in Italy, 1945, returned to safety and survived the war after being rescued by the Mihailovich Serbs. There are those people in life that are born unto their destiny, that come into life to be something special. They choose not their path, nor do they accept it willingly, it just is for them, despite their not even seeking it. You cannot create these people; you cannot groom them for their destiny is contained within every cell of their being. They cannot be drawn into a comic book or cast into a made for TV movie...

What if I told you that we have a new source of fuel? It's cheap, it burns cleaner than coal, it's found right here in America, and there's enough of it for the next hundred years. The fuel is natural gas. And the new source? Gigantic deposits of shale rock, miles underground. This one is called the Marcellus Shale. It covers 95,000 square miles, across four states. The gas is locked in the rock. If you crack a piece off you can actually smell the gas inside.

**SNIP** The main driving force in the movement has been a hatred of President Obama, a virulent hatred indeed. Now that the president has been resoundingly given another four years, the tea party’s leaders need new objects of scorn. And there’s the rub. Movements built on antagonism toward one individual tend to be short-lived, and when that individual triumphs despite loud opponents, it’s frustrating for the losers. But if the party’s over, the hangover remains. No place may have a bigger headache than North Carolina. The tea party’s push helped Republicans win control of the General Assembly, led to a...

"And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God, 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living," Matt 22:32. At the Transfiguration, the souls of long-dead Moses and Elijah appeared alongside Jesus. "And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him." Matt 17:3. How could Moses and Elijah "talk" with Jesus if they were "asleep"? Their souls were alive and awake. The fact that the Bible shows...

“This measure has a chilling impact on First Amendment Rights,” states Federal District Judge Katherine Forrest according to a flyer being distributed by the New Citizens’ Initiative to repeal the National Defense Authorization Act(NDAA). (1) People Against the NDAA (PandaUNITE.org) is gearing up for a nationwide fight in 2013 to nullify this very controversial act that uses national security as window dressing to take away six freedoms guaranteed to all citizens in our Constitution’s Bill of Rights! It is looking more and more like Washington politicians are once again going to kick the can down the road to show any level of fiscal responsibility by passing another short-term solution to avert the so-called fiscal cliff. This is the economic disaster which is supposedly going to hit the nation if tax rates are allowed to return to the levels in place during the Clinton era (when the economy was pretty good) and federal spending levels are forced to be cut by approximately 3% per year over the next decade. That second part of the equation was part of...

But now only one of my sons has access to a "miracle drug" that is saving his life.Max was fortunate enough to take part in a study of a breakthrough medication, and now he can walk on his own for longer than he ever could. But Austin wasn't as lucky. Without access to this miracle drug, I watch Austin suffer silently as his brother thrives. The FDA has the power to make this drug available to kids...

(snip)Lady M: still bravely declaring the right to bare arms against a rising tide of opposition I know you’ve been following this controversy, and it (snip)has erupted over whether we should ban “assault rifles” and “high capacity magazines” specifically or hand guns in general. As you know our betters (most Democratic politicians and all of the talking heads) favor the latter, because, well, because it’s just “common sense,” right? The masses can never be trusted with guns(snip) And now British ex-pat Piers Morgan is threatening to self-deport if America doesn’t outlaw the weapons that he finds offensive. Boy, talk...

This divide has existed for decades, separating America into hostile camps of conservative vs. liberal, rural vs. urban. As the nation responds to the massacre of 20 children and six adults in Newtown, Conn., the gulf has rarely felt wider than now. After the gunman invaded an elementary school with a Bushmaster AR-15 semiautomatic rifle and magazines of 30 bullets each, there was a brief moment of unity amid the nation's grief. Across partisan divides, politicians said something must be done about weapons based upon military designs. Many wondered if even the National Rifle Association would adjust its staunch opposition...

England and Wales ... undergoing seismic change. Over the course of a decade up to four million more people have entered the country to live. In the capital, London, people identifying themselves as "white British" have for the first time become a minority. Perhaps most strikingly, the national Muslim population has doubled. ... For the last decade, every major politician has lied about this issue. While talking tough, about putting a cap on immigrant numbers, pushing people to assimilate and much else besides, they have done nearly nothing ... Now we can see the fruits of their labors. By Mr. Curmudgeon:People of the government, by the government, for the government. That is what has become of "We the People." As Congress's inability to deal with the fiscal cliff and debt-ceiling issues prove, saving bloated government, not the liberty and financial solvency of 311 million Americans, is Washington's priority.A microcosm of the problems facing America is playing out in France. France's Constitutional Council declared Socialist President Francois Hollande's 75% income tax on those earning above $1 million illegal.  However, had the plan passed constitutional muster, it would not have done much to save the Fifth Republic from its fiscal...

**SNIP** But the number of legislative disputes that they have failed to resolve while they have been failing to craft a budget deal is equally striking. They include reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act, renewing a sweeping farm bill and reforming the U.S. Postal Service. Congress’s inability to solve even the stuff that used to be considered routine in Washington portends trouble for work on broader legislative initiatives like immigration reform or new gun control laws next year, when Republicans will continue to have solid control of the House and the Democrats’ majority in the Senate will expand by two...

Feinstein urges Americans to 'bite the bullet' on gun control By KEVIN CIRILLI | 12/30/12 9:59 AM EST Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said on Sunday that America needs to "bite the bullet" on gun control reform in wake of the Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. "America has to bite the bullet of what these incidents mean to our people, to our nation and our nation's standing in the world," Feinstein said on "Fox News Sunday."
