  • The cavalry still rides . [Fort Huachuca's B Troop honors those who went before]

The days of the old horse cavalry of the U.S. Army are generally now only seen in movies. But on Fort Huachuca those days of the late 1800s are still alive through the all-volunteer B Troop, 4th Cavalry Regiment (Memorial), honoring a unit which served on the post at various times from 1884 to 1912. Unlike the days of old when the unit protected settlers when America’s westward expansion was at its highest a few years after the end of the Civil War, today’s mission of the small unit is to honor and remember those B Troopers — and by...
  • Astronomy Picture of the Day -- Earth's Richat Structure

Explanation: What on Earth is that? The Richat Structure in the Sahara Desert of Mauritania is easily visible from space because it is nearly 50 kilometers across. Once thought to be an impact crater, the Richat Structure's flat middle and lack of shock-altered rock indicates otherwise. The possibility that the Richat Structure was formed by a volcanic eruption also seems improbable because of the lack of a dome of igneous or volcanic rock. Rather, the layered sedimentary rock of the Richat structure is now thought by many to have been caused by uplifted rock sculpted by erosion. The above image...

Stripped of the bras that decorated the tavern's ceiling for nearly half a century, the Holler House looked mighty naked. But on Thursday, justice was restored to the universe. A ridiculous city order to ban the bras as a fire hazard was rescinded. "Oh my goodness, we won," cried Marcy Skowronski, the always colorful 87-year-old owner of the south side bar. "We're going to have a party to throw the bras back up."
  • Gun Rights Speaker Forcefully Ejected from NJ Public Hearing (VIDEO)

Tensions were high as both sides of the gun control aisle spoke during a Senate Law and Public Safety Committee held earlier this month in Trenton, NJ. As the hearing progressed, gun-rights supporters grew frustrated at the legislators move to amp measures that would only pertain to law-abiding gun owners and not the criminals they aimed to stop. In a particularly heated exchanged, 2nd Amendment advocate James Kaleda, 36, was asked to keep his comments relative to bills being heard. “I am on the bill. And I will be heard,” Kaleda said. But Committee Chairman Donald Norcross (D-Camden) called Kaleda...

Michelle Obama ditches her bangs By Emily Goodin - 05/17/13 12:23 PM ET Michelle Obama's much-talked-about bangs are gone. The first lady debuted a new 'do on Friday during her commencement address at Bowie State University. Her bangs, which she called her midlife crisis, were grown out and parted to the side with her hair slightly longer, touching her shoulders. No word on whether that means the crisis is over. However, in April, she told "Entertainment Tonight" that her bangs were getting "irritating." "The bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They're starting to grow out, getting a little irritating," she said....

During the summer of 2010, the dozen or so accountants and tax agents of Group 7822 of the Internal Revenue Service office in Cincinnati got a directive from their manager. A growing number of organizations identifying themselves as part of the Tea Party had begun applying for tax exemptions, the manager said, advising the workers to be on the lookout for them and other groups planning to get involved in elections. “I don’t believe there’s any such thing as rogue agents,” said Bonnie Esrig, a former senior manager in the I.R.S. office in Cincinnati. The specialists, hunched over laptops on...

The families of three fallen Navy SEAL Team Six members say President Obama and Vice President Biden are culpable for the deaths of their sons for publicly identifying the unit that killed Osama bin Laden and pursuing policies that coddle Muslims and put our own troops at a tactical disadvantage. SEAL Team Six carried out the daring raid in Pakistan in early May 2011. Three months later, three members of the unit were among 38 killed in a Chinook helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Twenty-five of the dead were special operations forces. Larry Klayman is founder of Freedom Watch, a WND...

Breathing Emission Particles Turns HDL Cholesterol From 'Good' To 'Bad' Article Date: 18 May 2013 Academic researchers have found that breathing motor vehicle emissions triggers a change in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, altering its cardiovascular protective qualities so that it actually contributes to clogged arteries. In addition to changing HDL from "good" to "bad," the inhalation of emissions activates other components of oxidation, the early cell and tissue damage that causes inflammation, leading to hardening of the arteries, according to the research team, which included scientists from UCLA and other institutions. The findings of this early study, done in mice,...

New York — Nearly 10 years ago, my mother was robbed in front of our home after getting off her second-shift job. The hooded mugger stole my mother's purse by knocking her down and wrestling her purse from her shoulder. She injured her wrist and suffered a few scrapes and bruises. The attack shook her up. I was inside watching television with my father when the incident occurred. We didn't hear or see a thing, but that didn't stop us from driving around the neighborhood looking for anyone suspicious. A week after the incident, I legally purchased my first gun....

I don't agree with much at all of what the Oklahoma Policy Institute puts out, but their information about the recent tax cut legislation passed by the Oklahoma legislature and signed into law by Governor Fallin is right on the money. Opinions about policy can vary, but numbers don't lie. I've looked at the new tax rates in House Bill 2032 and I've run the numbers against the tax rates in this year's form 511 - the Oklahoma individual income tax form. What the numbers tell me is that the things being said by Governor Fallin, Speak of the House...

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem Psalm 60 For the director of music. To the tune of "The Lily of the Covenant." A miktam of David. For teaching. When he fought Aram Naharaim and Aram Zobah, and when Joab returned and struck down twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. 1. You have rejected us, O God, and burst forth upon us; you have been angry-now restore us! 2. You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking. 3. You have shown your people desperate times; you have given us wine...

Dan from Squirrel Hill's Blog Here are 176 examples of Barack Obama’s lying, lawbreaking, corruption, cronyism, hypocrisy, government waste, and other misdeeds In the 2008 United States election, I wrote in Ron Paul for President. In the 2012 election, I voted for Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson. Those who are of a more leftist persuasion than myself might want to consider voting for the Green Party in future elections. Some of the things on this list are major events that should scare the daylights out of any true liberal who cares about civil liberties.Other things on this list are medium things...

A violent mob, including priests, broke down barriers and attacked marchers at a rally to mark International Day against Homophobia in Tibilisi, Georgia. Attackers were heard screaming, "Kill them! Tear them to pieces," according to witnesses. The march, in favour of LGBT rights ended in chaos as police struggled to evacuate the 50 marchers from Tibilisi's Freedom Square. They were taken to safety by special forces. The rally was condemned earlier by Patriarch Ilia II, head of the Georgian Orthodox Church, but he urged people to behave and restrain from violence. On the morning of the rally, priests gathered...

Out of the Wreck I Rise "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?" —Romans 8:35 God does not keep His child immune from trouble; He promises, “I will be with him in trouble . . .” (Psalm 91:15). It doesn’t matter how real or intense the adversities may be; nothing can ever separate him from his relationship to God. “In all these things we are more than conquerors . . .” (Romans 8:37). Paul was not referring here to imaginary things, but to things that are dangerously real. And he said we are “super-victors” in the midst...

EDITOR'S NOTE: For the last half of the twentieth century, Antony Flew (1923-2010) was the world's most famous atheist. Long before Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and Sam Harris began taking swipes at religion, Flew was the preeminent spokesman for unbelief. However in 2004, he shocked the world by announcing he had come to believe in God. While never embracing Christianity—Flew only believed in the deistic, Aristotelian conception of God—he became one of the most high-profile and surprising atheist converts. In 2007, he recounted his conversion in a book titled There is a God: How the World's Most Notorious Atheist Changed His...

Reading this timeline, I have come to three conclusions: --snip timeline-- 1. Steve Miller lied to Congress 2. Lois Lerner lied to Congress 3. Barack Obama lied to the American people This scandal has the fingerprints of Axelrod, Jarrett and/or the Chicago Machine all over it. This is fascism on the part of the IRS and the White House. It is fascism, straight up. Or, as I call the IRS: Organizing for Revenue.
