A potential juror at the George Zimmerman trial who told the court he had little knowledge of the case apparently indicated otherwise on Facebook. "I CAN tell you THIS. 'Justice'…IS Coming," the juror appeared to write of the Zimmerman case on the Facebook page for the "Coffee Party Progressives," a page with which he was confronted in Judge Debra Nelson's courtroom. The potential juror, assigned the number E7, who described himself as an "underemployed" musician and painter, told the court that he did not have a lot of knowledge about the case when it first happened.

Many of us have probably wondered about this - if I could work anywhere in the world, where would I choose? Of course, there are many factors to consider. In recent times, Singapore has emerged as a preferred destination among companies as well as foreigners looking to work in Asia. But beyond the city-state's clean streets and strong job market, the financial incentive of a low tax rate is, for many, one of its biggest pull factors. As part of our Taxing Times series running across BBC World this week, Mariko Oi reports from Singapore.

Matthews said that Cruz “fits in the tradition” of reviled historical figures like notorious Nazi sympathizer and radio host Father Coughlin and 1950s-era anti-communist Sen. Joe McCarthy (R-WI). After playing a portion of clips of Cruz speaking to conservative audiences, Matthews noted that the junior senator from Texas has said even more inflammatory things off camera. “In 2010, when he said that [Barack] Obama would make a perfect president of Harvard Law School because, quote, ‘There...

The Scottish Parliament is considering a controversial bill that would assign a social worker to every child born in the country in order to “promote, support or safeguard the well-being of the child or young person.” The Children and Young People Bill, though well-intentioned, has many critics who believe it infringes too much on the personal nature of child-rearing. According to the bill, every child would be assigned a “named person” other than the parents, but unlike in the case of naming a godparent, the parents do not have a choice of opting not to have one.

WASHINGTON – For the first time, America's racial and ethnic minorities now make up about half of the under-5 age group, the government said Thursday. It's a historic shift that shows how young people are at the forefront of sweeping changes by race and class. The new census estimates, a snapshot of the U.S. population as of July 2012, comes a year after the Census Bureau reported that whites had fallen to a minority among babies. Fueled by immigration and high rates of birth, particularly among Hispanics, racial and ethnic minorities are now growing more rapidly in numbers than whites....

The IRS’ targeting of conservative groups has fallen out of public view, at least momentarily, as the NSA and PRISM data-collection scandals have burst onto the scene. Admittedly, most people don’t seem to give a toss about PRISM one way or the other. But you should, and not just because certain groups claim that the NSA’s spying could be unconstitutional – there are lots of reasons why the alleged complicity of US tech firms could be bad for America, and no one wants to live in an Orwellian Dystopia, which is what could happen if we never take a stand. So with this in mind, is there any way to avoid the all-encompassing dragnet that the NSA has admitted to running? You bet there is, and today...

It is an interesting and somewhat macabre parlor game to play at a large gathering of one’s acquaintances: to speculate who in a showdown would go Nazi. By now, I think I know. I have gone through the experience many times—in Germany, in Austria, and in France. I have come to know the types: the born Nazis, the Nazis whom democracy itself has created, the certain-to-be fellow-travelers. And I also know those who never, under any conceivable circumstances, would become Nazis. It is preposterous to think that they are divided by any racial characteristics.
