Terrorists are leaving secret messages in porn and on websites like eBay and Reddit to communicate with each other and plan future attacks, new book claims Terrorists have developed several new techniques to communicate with each online by leaving coded messages on websites like eBay and Reddit, claims a new book. The shocking discovery made by intelligence officers and code breakers in Israel, Britain and the United States revealed that seemingly innocuous chats are often much more, according to new sections in the book Gideon's Spies: The Secret History of the Mossad. The case against “smart” bombs and drones in the war on terror. Every time we are shown a grainy picture of some Toyota or individual building being hit by a smart bomb, Tomahawk missile, or Hellfire from a drone we feel a little pride in our technological superiority and the satisfaction that we have taken the fight to the terrorists and killed one, two, or three of them. In short, we feel like we have accomplished something. Let me tell you what’s going on in the surviving terrorists’ tents that night. They are nervously celebrating the martyrdom of a few...

More than 70% of UK sex workers have previously worked in healthcare, education or charities, while more than a third hold university degrees, according to one of the largest surveys of the industry ever undertaken. The academic research, carried out by Leeds University and funded by the Wellcome Trust, also reveals the pressures that lead people to enter the sex industry, with one respondent saying she could not keep up her mortgage repayments while earning Ł50 a day as an NHS care assistant. The study of 240 sex workers – including 196 women, 28 men and 12 transgender people –...

APOPKA, Fla. — U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson spoke at an Apopka event Sunday intended to support and educate residents about President Barack Obama’s recent executive action on immigration. Funding for the Department of Homeland Security will last only through the end of the week. A long-term solution has not yet been reached because of the ongoing debate over immigration. Channel 9’s Janai Norman spoke to a local family caught in the middle of the debate. The Manceras are immigrants from Mexico and for more than 18 years, they’ve been stuck in the immigration process. “There (are) families that may be...

The report that President Obama threatened to shoot down Israeli jets attacking Iran may or may not be true. But the fact is, the president has surrounded himself with people who have no love for the Jewish state. And the idea of the president attacking an ally is a plausible scenario. One of his closest advisors, Samantha Power, actually suggested back in 2002 that the U.S. invade Israel to impose a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I had forgotten how truly radical Samantha Powers is. Her casual mentions of “human rights abuses” and “genocide” mark her as an anti-Israel zealot.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived on Sunday night in Washington D.C., where he is scheduled to deliver a speech before Congress on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters during an in-flight briefing, a senior official in the prime minister's entourage said Israel holds a significant amount of trustworthy information regarding the deal taking shape with Iran that points at concessions agreed to by the world powers that run counter to Israel's interests. The senior official travelling on the prime minister's plane noted that Netanyahu had received the impression that members of Congress are not fully aware of the details of the deal...

Just a few weeks ago, the idea that Apple might make a car seemed like an outlandish rumour. Today, it's accepted by many as gospel. Numerous reports have filtered through in recent days, providing more detail on Apple's automotive ambitions. Of course, nothing has been confirmed yet. The Apple Car would be a massive, multi-year undertaking. But here's what we've heard so far: It's called Project Titan. The detail comes via a report from the Wall Street Journal. It's an electric car. This puts the company in competition with Tesla, which develops cutting edge electric-powered vehicles. VC and entrepreneur Jason...

If we only have enough shovel ready jobs for the jihadists, there will be no terrorism. Airstrikes against Islamic State militants and falling oil prices have hurt the group’s ability to fund operations across Iraq and Syria, according to an international agency that fights terror financing. In a report issued Friday, the Paris-based Financial Action Task Force, or FATF, said U.S.-led airstrikes targeting refineries and transport convoys have managed to disrupt Islamic State’s ability to deliver oil to the black market. Islamic State’s “ability to efficiently extract, refine and sell petroleum and petroleum products from the territory in which it operates has significantly diminished,” the report said. The Bethlehem-based news agency Ma’an has cited a Kuwaiti newspaper report Saturday, that US President Barack Obama thwarted an Israeli military attack against Iran's nuclear facilities in 2014 by threatening to shoot down Israeli jets before they could reach their targets in Iran. Following Obama's threat, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was reportedly forced to abort the planned Iran attack. According to Al-Jarida, the Netanyahu government took the decision to strike Iran some time in 2014 soon after Israel had discovered the United States and Iran had been involved in secret talks over Iran’s nuclear program and were about to sign...

At a conference in London last week, I was discussing with some folks the state of the American economy and the role of public policy.I was trying to explain whatÂ’s happened in the past few years, describing the avalanche of bad policy last decade, culminating with the faux stimulus in 2009 and the enactment of Obamacare in 2010.I then said that ObamaÂ’s efforts to impose further statism have been largely stymied, particularly...

The only interesting thing to come of it was some sharp-edged criticism by Republican members of the House Financial Services Committee. That includes committee chair Jeb Hensarling, who said, "Fed reforms are needed ... Fed reforms are coming." Senator Rand Paul, for one, is pushing a bill to audit the Fed, by which he means auditing the Fed's policies and discussions. The Fathers of the Church spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, defended the Church in apologetic writing and fought the many heresies of the first six centuries of Christianity. These men, also called Apostolic Fathers, gave special witness to the faith, some dying the death of a martyr. Like Jesus who referred to Abraham as a spiritual father (Luke 16: 24) and St. Paul, who referred to himself in the same terms (1 Cor 4: 15), the Fathers were zealous for the word of God. Despite everything they’ve tried to throw at Abbott — false claims about “unilateral invasions”, heckling at media conferences, wall-to-wall ABC and Fairfax attacks, open campaigning for Malcolm Turnbull and constant peddling of false claims of an imminent challenge — the media have not destroyed Tony Abbott. The confessionals are empty. The sinners have gone away. Or should I say, “sin has gone away.” Not to be judgmental, but rather to be observant, I sense poignantly a lack of what I would call “sin awareness” among modern Catholics. We seem to have assimilated the secular notion that the concept of sin places outdated, even psychologically damaging restraints on people, or that the feeling of guilt for wrongdoing (or wrong-thinking) is emotionally debilitating. Thus, we see in society the virtual elimination of the word “sin.” We don’t want to hurt anybody’s self esteem. Catholics, perhaps innocently, have...

--SNIP-- Not all Democrats, however, are clearly siding with the President. New York Sen. Charles Schumer stressed Sunday that a nuclear Iran would be a “huge problem.” “Iran is on the list of terrorist nations. Iran has caused the death, directly or indirectly, of hundreds of Americans with terrorist acts. And they want to dominate the Middle East,” Schumer said on John Catsimatidis' Sunday morning radio show on WNYM, also known as AM 970 The Answer. Schumer said, that if a deal came to pass, it would have to include a “really tough inspection regime, because I don’t trust these...

Low-cost hobby drones are making the power of flight accessible to anyone with a few hundred bucks to spare. But a combination of technology and safety laws could take the controls out of users’ hands. When a DJI Phantom 2 quadcopter drone crashed at the White House in late January, Hong Kong-based DJI responded quickly with the release of a software update that added a 15.5-mile no-fly zone around Washington, preventing its Phantom 2 products from taking off in the area. The company already had no-fly zones that prohibit flights within 8 miles of thousands of airports. The update wasn’t as...

6 But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows:“ DO not say in your heart, ‘ Who will ascend into heaven? ’ (that is, to bring Christ down), 7 or ‘ Who will descend into the abyss? ’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).” 8 But what does it say? “ The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,...

Fast-food giant McDonald’s has avoided paying €1 billion in tax across the EU, and should be included in the EU’s probe on “sweetheart” tax deals, according to a report published Wednesday (25 February). The report, published by the European Federation of Public Service Unions, its US Counterpart and the charity War on Want, accuses McDonald’s of “aggressive and potentially abusive optimization of its structure which has led to the avoidance of significant amounts of tax across the continent”. It concludes that “it is likely that the company reached a secret tax deal with Luxembourg”. In July 2009, the Happy-Meal maker...
  • Private police carry guns and make arrests, and their ranks are swelling

Michael Youlen stopped a driver in a Manassas apartment complex on a recent night and wrote the man a ticket for driving on a suspended license. With a badge on his chest and a gun on his hip, Youlen gave the driver a stern warning to stay off the road. The stop was routine police work, except for one fact: Youlen is not a Manassas officer. The citation came courtesy of the private force he created that, until recently, he called the “Manassas Junction Police Department.” He is its chief and sole officer. He is a force of one. And...
  • First Sunday of Lent: The Triumph of Orthodoxy

    03/01/2015 12:46:56 PM PST · by NRx · 5 replies
The Sunday of Orthodoxy is the first Sunday of Great Lent. The dominant theme of this Sunday since 843 has been that of the victory of the icons. In that year the iconoclastic heresy, which had raged on and off since 726, was finally laid to rest, and icons and their veneration were restored on the first Sunday in Lent. Ever since, this Sunday has been commemorated as the "Triumph of Orthodoxy." - See more at: http://lent.goarch.org/sunday_of_orthodoxy/learn/#sthash.gdvBOiyY.dpuf

Minnie Minoso, the hugely popular All-Star outfielder from Cuba who became the major league’s first black player out of Latin America and a treasured figure in the history of the Chicago White Sox, died on Sunday in Chicago. His true age was never entirely clear, but by an account in his autobiography, he would have been 89 when he died.
