It may be the Summer of Trump, but the publicity-hungry real estate magnate is not the only Republican presidential candidate relishing all his attention. Donald J. Trumps surge in the polls has been met with barely concealed delight by Jeb Bush and his supporters. Mr. Trumps bombastic ways have simultaneously made it all but impossible for those vying to be the alternative to Mr. Bush to emerge, and easier for Mr. Bush, the former Florida governor, to position himself as the serious and thoughtful alternative to a candidate who has upended the early nominating process. With little indication that his...

SARAH Palin and Donald Trump have exchanged words of admiration after a brief meeting at the real estate magnate's Trump Tower penthouse in Manhattan. Palin, the former Republican vice-presidential nominee, said she and Trump shared similar ideas for improving the US economy, while Trump called Palin a "terrific woman and a terrific friend" whom he hoped would seek the Republican presidential nomination. -- I thought this was an interesting post, which I found recently. Babies as young as 8 months want to see wrongdoers punished, a new study finds. In contrast, younger babies prefer to see individuals being nice to one another even when that means that someone is nice to a character who deserves a slap on the wrist. "This study helps to answer questions that have puzzled evolutionary psychologists for decades," Kiley Hamlin, a psychologist at the University of British Columbia, said in a statement... Turkeys recent intervention aims to prevent the emergence of a de facto Kurdish sovereignty stretching along its southeastern border The latest events in northern Syria constitute a bold move by the Turkish leadership to deal with a most pressing problem, from their point of view. That problem is not the continued existence of the Assad regime, far to the south. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would certainly like to see the end of this regime. But its continued truncated existence between Damascus and the coast and in isolated spots elsewhere does not constitute an immediate danger for the Turkish leader. (snip)...

Jason Stanford refers to himself as an 'astronaut wife', because his actual wife and stepmother to his two sons, Sonia Van Meter, 36, was one of the people chosen for the Mars One Project, a privately-funded one-way mission which hopes to establish a permanent human colony on the red planet. Sen. Ted Cruz wants to safeguard the open Internet from authoritarian regimes. Youd think that would be an easy position to take, but its not. The Texas senator and presidential candidate is bucking the leadership of his Republican Party to push hard against the Obama administration plan to abandon Americas protection of the Internet from political interference. This became an issue in March 2014, when the Commerce Department announced it would give up its Internet oversight by September 2015. Cruz is right… if the Iranian deal goes through and they receive somewhere between $100 and $200 billion in blood money, the US will become the de facto largest sponsor of Islamic terrorism on the planet. President Barack Obama has authorized using air power to defend a new U.S.-backed fighting force in Syria if it is attacked by Syrian government forces or other groups, raising the risk of the American military coming into direct conflict with the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. U.S. officials said the decision ended a monthslong debate over the role the American military should play in supporting its few allies on the battlefield in Syria. Administration officials had been deeply concerned that defending the Pentagon-backed force could inadvertently open the first open conflict with the Assad government, which has denounced the U.S....

CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio - In May, Murray Energy, which sits along the old National Pike here in eastern Ohio, told nearly 1,500 workers at five of its West Virginia mines that their jobs were eliminated. In Ohio, 249 Murray jobs were gone; nearly 170 employees were out of work in Illinois. The announcement wasn't an isolated one. Mines are being boarded up and thousands of coal jobs are vanishing across America, in part because of competition from abundant natural gas but in larger part because of new federal regulations limiting carbon pollution from coal-fired power plants. One month later, Murray...

(VNRN) - Any new U.S. Ambassador will always attract the attention of Vietnamese everywhere, but when President Barack Obama nominated Asia pro Ted Osius, it generated a little more than the usual high interest. You see, Osius is openly gay. Regardless of whether the nominees sexual orientation was a factor, the nomination hopefully will usher in more LGBT rights in Vietnam. Certainly Osius is qualified to be ambassador. He has served as Deputy Chief of Mission before, in Indonesia from 2009 to 2012. For the past year, he has been an Associate Professor at the National War College. Osius had...

  • Scott Walker Still Refusing To Release Records (and more - there's always More)

After failing to sneak through a repeal of Wisconsin's Open Records Laws by inserting it (quietly, in the dead of night, right at the start of a 3 day holiday weekend) in the already non-budgetary, policy-bloated State Budget, Scott Walker still acts as though Open Records Laws don't exist. He continues to refuse to release records. That sneak attack on Wisconsin's best-in-the-nation Open Records Laws was rapidly reported, the information was quickly disseminated, and the public reaction was so intense that the measure was quickly removed. The issue became so hot that Walker and Republican leaders started pointing fingers blaming...

Scott Walker. Now with extra "splainin' to do. Thanks to a legal filing by Cindy Archer, former top aide to then Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker, we now have more information on how the first John Doe Probe was born. It turns out that the John Doe Probe became necessary because of the lack of cooperation and obstruction by Walker's own office. We have known that it started with an investigation into money missing from the accounts of Operation Freedom which provided services to families of veterans. This money, formerly handled by an American Legion Post, was ordered to be...

Things got very awkward on Thursday when Chris Matthews asked DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz what the difference was between the modern Democratic Party and Socialism. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was completely stumped. She couldnt answer the question. We havent seen that dazed look since Rachel Dolezal was busted as a fraud. Because, as we all know, there is no difference between todays Democrat Party and radical Socialism. On Sunday DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz was again asked to explain the difference between the modern day Democratic Party and Socialism. Again She failed. You know Chuck it is always fun to...
