WINTER PARK, Fla. - Three former workers at a Winter Park home for adults with autism who were arrested on accusations of abusing people living there have bonded out of jail. State investigators said video of the abuse helped them catch the trio and now there will be changes at the home. The allegations of abuse came out in March thanks to a former employee who recorded it on a cellphone. That former worker handed the video to the executive director at the Threshold Center for Autism because he felt what happened was wrong, and he now plans to testify...

The National Rifle Association on Tuesday said it's launching a $1.3 million television ad campaign to promote Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Cotton's bid to unseat Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor, a little over a year after the group ran radio ads defending Pryor's record on guns. The NRA said the 30-second spot will begin running in Little Rock and Jonesboro starting Wednesday and will run for at least four weeks. The ad touts the group's endorsement of Cotton and doesn't mention Pryor. The group is also spending six figures to run radio ads in the state and has been sending direct...

Prime Minister Tony Abbott said authorities obtained intelligence about a "demonstration killing" -- a killing, Australian media reported, in which alleged assailants planned to kidnap a member of the public, behead the victim and then drape him or her in an ISIS flag. Throughout the 20th century most people would never have thought about Canada being an important producer of diamonds. [1] Their knowledge of diamonds was fixed on mining operations in Africa and diamond trading centers in Europe. All of this started to change in 1991 when two geologists, Chuck Fipke and Stewart Blusson, found evidence of diamond-bearing Kimberlite pipes about 200 miles north of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. One of these pipes would soon be developed by BHP Billiton into the EKATI Diamond Mine, which produced Canada's first commercial diamonds in 1998.

The College Football Czar: Week 4 Week three in review: Sixth-ranked Georgia was upset by South Carolina 38-35, but donít count the Dogs out of national championship contention just yet. Aside from an early October trip to Missouri, thereís not that much standing in their way between now and their grudge match against Auburn on Nov. 15th. Heisman-winning Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has already been nominated for the Lardhead of the Year Award, but if there were also a Banana-Brain of the Year and a Nougat-Noggin of the Year, he could easily challenge for the Triple Crown. Coach Jimbo...

Attitude in Adversity Today's Scripture ďIn your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.Ē (Philippians 2:5, NIV) Today's Word from Joel and Victoria Thereís an old saying, ďattitude determines altitude.Ē In other words, a positive, faith-filled attitude will cause you to rise higher in life, but a negative, self-defeated attitude will only drag you down. When we face adversity, our attitude affects the outcome. Are we going to treat people right even when weíre being mistreated? Are we going to stay full of joy even when the bottom falls out? So many people get all...

This year, three National Football League players -- Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice, and Greg Hardy -- have either admitted to or been convicted of domestic violence. Their stories coalesced into a storm this past week with the release of a damning new video of Ray Rice punching his wife (then fiancťe) and the indictment of Adrian Peterson, debatably the NFL's best running back, for child abuse. The media onslaught of updates, analysis, and opinion on what has been called the National Football League's "worst week ever" leaves a distinct impression: the NFL is a league stocked full of criminals. Evidence,...

His Temptation and Ours " We do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin ¬óHebrews 4:15 " Until we are born again, the only kind of temptation we understand is the kind mentioned in James 1:14, ‚ÄúEach one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.‚ÄĚ But through regeneration we are lifted into another realm where there are other temptations to face, namely, the kind of temptations our Lord faced. The temptations of Jesus had no appeal to...

Choirs of Angels Fr. William Saunders¬†Q: With all of the talk about angels, the multitude of pictures and books about them, and even the television shows with angels, why don‚Äôt we ever hear more about them? Some of these shows make angels seem like fantasy spirits. Too many people have a superficial view of angels. Do we still believe in them? The Catechism of the Catholic Church clearly affirms, ‚ÄúThe existence of the spiritual, non-corporeal beings that sacred Scripture usually calls ‚Äėangels‚Äô is a truth of faith. The witness of Scripture is as clear as the unanimity of Tradition‚ÄĚ (no....

Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, one of the masterminds behind Obamacare, has now explained that he wishes to die at age 75. In an article in The Atlantic, Emanuel writes, ďSeventy-five. Thatís how long I want to live: 75 years.Ē He explains that his daughters disagree; so do his brothers and his friends. But, he says, ďI am sure of my positionÖhere is a simple truth that many of us seem to resist: living too long is also a loss. It renders many of us, if not disabled, then faltering and declining, a state that may not be worse than death but
