Coup d’états come in a variety of forms. Some are violent with arrogant colonels pointing forty-fives at the temples of their predecessors and blowing their brains out; others are stealthy with the citizens awakening on an ordinary morning to find their whole world has changed yet not a drop of blood has been shed. The latter is what has happened in America. We are the victims of a media coup d’état and are currently living under it. You will see that clearly in evidence on Wednesday night when the debates commence, each one moderated by a member of the liberal...

Team Obama: Don't expect debate 'zingers' from president Posted by CNN's Ashley Killough (CNN) – President Barack Obama's re-election campaign said Sunday the president likely won't be flinging barbs during this week's presidential debate. "If you're expecting that, that's probably not what he's going to deliver," campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters on Air Force One. "He's speaking directly to the American people, and what they want to hear is what his plan is for moving the country forward." Psaki was referring to reports that the president's opponent, Mitt Romney, was "working on zingers" and memorizing short attack lines to...

An Afghan soldier turned his gun on American troops at a checkpoint in the country's east, killing two Americans and at least two fellow members of Afghanistan's army in a shooting that marked both the continuance of a disturbing trend of insider attacks and the 2,000th U.S. troop death in the long-running war, officials said Sunday. The string of insider attacks is one of the greatest threats to NATO's mission in the country, endangering a partnership key to training up Afghan security forces and withdrawing international troops. Saturday's shooting took place at an Afghan army checkpoint just outside a joint...

As America’s strategic and political position in the Middle East continues to deteriorate, President Barack Obama’s political opponents have stepped up their claims that he is an ineffective leader on foreign policy. But New York Times columnist David Brooks isn’t convinced those attacks will work. During his weekly appearance on PBS’s “NewsHour” on Friday, Brooks suggested Obama deserves a pass for remaining calm throughout the crisis, which he said puts a kind of burden on his challenger, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

From his spot on the Time Ideas blog, the MSNBC anchor Toure admitted "If President Obama had to run against Senator Obama of 2008, he’d probably be crushed. Back then, Obama seemed superhuman; today he is merely mortal. His victory in 2008 was historic, breaking the race barrier in the nation’s highest office." Guess what came next. Re-electing Obama is a greater test of whether America is racist than it was in 2008: "But an Obama victory in 2012 would say something even more profound about how far our country has come. I think we’re at the most dangerous time in our political history in terms of the balance of power in the role that the media plays in whether or not we maintain a free democracy or not. You know, when I first started in politics – and for a long time before that – everyone on both sides, Democrats and Republicans, despised the press commonly, because they were SOBs to everybody. Which is exactly what they should be. They were unrelenting. Whatever the biases were, they were essentially equal-opportunity people. That changed in 1980. There are a lot of reasons...

If anything as embarrassing as what follows occurred at a Republican presidential contender's website, including the follow-up ridicule by the opposition, the press would never be able to resist covering it. A mythical (I hope) ecard created at the Obama-Biden campaign site call purports to be from a daughter to her mother, and asks about the most ridiculous question you can imagine. The Israeli Embassy in the U.S. had a field day after the Iranian state-run Fars News Agency used a made up report by the satirical news site The Onion, and passed it off as what they presumed to be real. The fake report stated that a new Gallup poll showed that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was overwhelming preferred over President Obama by rural white Americans. The Onion headline, “Gallup Poll: Rural Whites Prefer Ahmadinejad to Obama”, was immediately picked up by Fars and hours later the news agency ran an identical story. Go here to read the brilliant rest.  Most presidential horserace polls are assuming a Democrat advantage at the polls this fall of D-7, which is the advantage the Democrats had in 2008.  That simply isn’t going to happen after the failed Obama Presidency.  In 2010 the parties had roughly equal amounts turn out at the polls.  I imagine that the election result this year will range from parity to a D-2 advantage.  Assuming Romney wins the independents, as most polls show him doing, a D-2 electorate would lead to a Romney victory.  Parity would be a Reagan 1980 landslide. http://datechguyblog.com/#!/entry/demoralized-as-hell-the-poll-the-media-isn8217t-talking-about,40362

After seeing photos of himself in the news, an Occupy Wall Street protester suspected of rape turned himself in to police over the weekend, where he was arrested in not one but two different rape cases, including for one alleged sex assault against a 14-year-old girl earlier this summer. According to police, Jackie Barcliff, 44, surrendered himself on Friday night. His photo had been widely published, including on the pages of Metro, as a suspect wanted for the alleged rape of a woman last Monday, Sept. 10, at Pier 15 park near the South Street Seaport. He threw the woman...

Zogby: Romney Running Worse Than McCain in ‘08 Thursday, 13 Sep 2012 06:05 PM President Barack Obama received a surprisingly strong bounce after the Democratic National Convention, and now leads GOP challenger Mitt Romney by nearly 6 points according to a new JZ Analytics poll. The national poll of likely voters shows Obama leading 47.7 percent to 42 percent, and indicates that Romney is not polling well enough among some conservative demographic groups: NASCAR fans, evangelicals, and the so-called “Walmart voters.” According to JZ Analytics pollster John Zogby, Romney is in a somewhat worse position than GOP nominee Sen. John...

WASHINGTON (AP)—As Americans debate whether they are better off now than they were four years ago, there is a similar question with a somewhat easier answer: Are you safer now than you were when President Barack Obama took office? By most measures, the answer is yes. More than a decade after terrorists slammed planes into the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania countryside, Americans have stopped fretting daily about a possible attack or stockpiling duct tape and water. Getting through airport security has become a routine irritation, not a grim foreboding. While the threat of...

According to the White House calendar, there is no public record of President Barack Obama attending his daily intelligence briefing–known as the Presidential Daily Brief (PDB)–in the week leading up to the attacks on the U.S. embassy in Cairo and the murder of U.S. Libyan Ambassador Chris Stevens and three American members of his staff...

Many conservative news people have talked about Obama NOT being vet the last election and it appears that even the authors looking into his history have neglected to thoroughly investigate one area. The Clinton’s, like good magician assistance distracted with the help of lawyer, Phillip Berg…Look over here! Look at his birth certificate! Those who attempted to look into that fact were ridiculed or ignored. In an attempt to ignite research facts and questions follow. “Where did the Dunham family get the money to travel?” asked one blogger who listed many on the family trips to and through Asia. http://wtpotus.wordpress.com/2011/10/12/barack-hussein-obama-ii-child-of-privilege/...

September 13, 2012 POLL: OBAMA UP 5 IN D+11 POLL Mike Flynn Today's RCP Average of presidential polls show Obama leading Romney by a little more than 3 points. A big reason for this is the abundance of polls featuring heavily Democrat skews in their samples. Juice the numbers enough and you can show just about any Obama lead you want. Garbage in, garbage out, as they say. A good example of this is today's Democracy Corps poll. It shows Obama with a 5-point lead over Romney. Of course, the sample for the poll is D+11. Now, I get tired...
