I took an old Pentax ME Super SE 35mm I found at a thrift store and tuned up. This is from the 2nd test roll.St. Augustine has a lot of lion sculptures, I think when it cools down this autumn I'll go see how many I can find with a camera.

On my last trip to the thrift shop there was a mysterious Nauguhyde bag in the show case. Y'all know me, LOL, I just had to look! The Pentax ME Super was made around 1980, it's a compact by SLR standards but built like a brick. This is the SE version, top ot the crop.I got a 50mm f2 Pentax lens and an 80-200 f4,5, all in mint condition, a 2X TC and a bunch of filters, plus a really nice bag. These are with the 80-200 f4.5.I had the film run at Walgreens and scanned the negatives on my Epson 3590.

I've been putting this rig together for a while now, one piece at a time. It's all just about new in condition. The Minolta Maxxum XTSi was released in 1998, the 3200i flash is from a few years earlier. This is one of the toys I lusted after when it came out but couldn't afford, the body alone was 600 bucks in 1998.Minolta digital cameras appeared not long after this, rhen the line was bought by Sony. If I put this camera next to my Sony Alpha digital the XTSi, although smaller, shows a lot of the same design trends, likely from...

I finished another project tonight. This Minolta X9 has been sitting in a project drawer until I got time to mess with it. A capacitor triggers the shutter and also regulates shutter speed. Blown capacitors are common on the X9s, Minolta seems to havw bought a big batch of bad ones.. The new capacitor shouldn't have that problem. It's a simple soldering job for young hands and young eyes, which I don't have! I finally figured out a workaround and got her done! The X9 is a later generation than my XG-M, lots more plastic but it has some nice features...

Several months ago I found a Minolta XG-M from the early 80s in a thrift shop, for 5 bucks. It cleaned up really pretty but needed light seals and a mirror damper to really be back in shape. It's ready to go now, maybe it will make another 25 or 30 years.I used Kodak Hi Def 400 for these, Walmart developed the film and I scanned the negatives with my Epson scanner.

I was in my favorite thrift store last week, found this sitting in a plastic bin with a 5 dollar sticker. It had a 28mm lens on it, I found a 35-70 f2.8-4 Sigma for another 18 bucks.I've been cleaning and testing, got it ready to roll again. The Minolta XG-M came out in the early 80s, it has auto exposure and manual focus. It all cleaned up to about 99%. I'll shoot it some and the rest of the time it will look great on my shelf.I can get negatives digitized to discs, it isn't very expensive.
