It's deja vu again: A Wisconsin woman visiting the 9/11 Memorial yesterday was arrested after a security guard screening her bag spotted a gun in the purse. Ursula Jerry, 41, had a .380-caliber semi-automatic Kel-Tec gun in her purse. The Wall Street Journal reports, "The weapon had two rounds in the magazine-none were in the chamber, the official said." Jerry also told cops, "I travel with this from home on Amtrak to New York City. I don’t mean harm to anyone." Jerry has a permit for the gun in Wisconsin, but not NYC. Responsible gun owners would know that New...

Tourists visiting the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City can read its brochures in 10 different languages – but Arabic is not one of them. Nor will it be any time soon. “Nine languages are spoken by over 97 percent of our visitors: English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Mandarin, Italian, Japanese and Russian,” a representative from the memorial told the New York Post. The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, claiming Arabic is the world’s fourth-most-spoken language, is sending letters to memorial coordinators demanding answers on why the language is not included. But it appears that the Arabic community is looking for...

Last week at more than 200 colleges and high schools across the nation, students came together to arrange memorials on campus featuring thousands of flags representing each victim of Islamic terrorism on that date. Who could find that gesture offensive? Five student protesters at Middlebury College in Vermont, brainwashed by multiculturalist nonsense, that’s who. “The 9/11: Never Forget Project has been an annual nonpartisan event at Middlebury College for the past ten years,” writes Hillary Cherry, Program Officer of Public Relations there. After five years of insignificant media coverage and minimal public awareness, construction of the Flight 93 Memorial centerpiece is already in progress. It is difficult to screw up an appearance at Ground Zero on September 11th. You have to be either completely oblivious or completely indifferent. It is a signal feat of idiocy. And yet Barack Obama accomplished it. John McCain and Obama visited Ground Zero together. Obama and McCain entered the site. Along with the many inscriptions that have nothing to do with 9/11, Arizona’s 9/11 memorial commission wanted to include the names of the 19 9/11 hijackers on the memorial in Phoenix... What happened in Phoenix is what would have happened in New York had the International Freedom Center not been removed from the plans and what will happen at Ground Zero if activists sneak back onto hallowed ground. To be clear, we advocate these five things for Ground Zero...
  • Video: Arizona 9/11 memorial designers wanted to commemorate hijackers (Puke Alert!)

Why wouldn’t they? There are no enemies in their cosmology (except Bush). Violence itself is the enemy. Which means the hijackers are victims too. Oh, and we also sort of deserved it because of our “total support of Israel.” And the Afghan civilians who were accidentally killed in a bombing run ten months later belong on the memorial because they’re all “part of the tragedy of war, terrorism, hatred, [and] mistrust of everyone else.” We’re going to lose. You know that, right? LINK<.b> to video: http://hotair.com/archives/2006/10/10/video-arizona-911-memorial-designers-wanted-to-commemorate-hijackers/

As pre-ordained, Mayor Bloomberg was voted in as chairman of the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation yesterday. While waiting for the inevitable, my mind wandered back to late last year and this. Following the 9/11 money (from a New York Daily News editorial, originally published on December 10, 2005) No one knew how much money the city was going to need and for what purposes. Sen. Chuck Schumer presented the best guess to Bush in the Oval Office, and the President said, "You got it." So programs were created, and grants, loans and tax incentives began arriving to meet immediate...

Instead of someone who actually cares about 9/11—its dead and living victims and heroes—and remembrance of the day America was attacked, someone with less interest, without the time, and with an obvious conflict of interest is about to be left in charge of the memorial and museum at Ground Zero. Mayor Bloomberg’s choosing culture over remembrance, arrogant indifference for human remains, sabotaging all prior fundraising for the memorial, and callous disregard for thousands of living victims of 9/11 renders him unfit to serve as the chairman of the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation. More than five years after 9/11, a...

A September 11th memorial poses peculiar problems for the modern American university. In the typical college of today, the “intellectual” vogues are anti-Americanism and sympathy for America’s enemies. By contrast, patriotism and support for our national defense are embraced about as strongly on college campuses as are capitalism and Dick Cheney. Anything that portrays America as under attack by Islamic terrorists, as even the most purely apolitical 9/11 memorial inevitably will, challenges the university dogma. And so it is often left to students properly to mourn and remember that tragic day when its anniversary arrives. But what if students wanted...

A new state memorial honoring victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack has drawn criticism from a number of sources, including Republican gubernatorial candidate Len Munsil. Munsil claims some of the monument's inscriptions are anti-American. The Arizona 9-11 Memorial was unveiled earlier this month and was sponsored by numerous businesses including The Arizona Republic, Bank of America, Schaller Anderson Inc., McCarthy Building Cos., Bashas' Supermarkets and Grupo N Advertising. The monument was dedicated by Gov. Janet Napolitano on Sept. 11 of this year and is located across from the state Capitol in Phoenix. Munsil and some other conservative Republicans...

Inscriptions etched into Arizona’s Sept. 11 monument — meant to inspire and capture the horror of the terrorist attacks — sparked the beginnings of a political blog battle this week. *snip* One inscription states, “You don’t win battles of terrorism with more battles.” Another: “Congress questions why CIA and FBI didn’t prevent attacks.” And another reads, “Erroneous US air strike kills 46 Uruzgan civilians,” referring to a wedding reportedly hit by mistake in Afghanistan.

Poland remembers 9/11 Poland marks the 5th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks with solemn ceremonies in many towns and cities. Michal Kubicki reports 11/09.06 In Warsaw, the city’s acting mayor Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz and the US ambassador Victor Ashe laid wreaths at the memorial in tribute to the six Poles who lost their lives in the attacks. They also opened an exhibition of two prominent photographers, from Poland and the United States, entitled ‘New York – before and after 9/11’. In Suwalki, northeastern Poland, the school friends and teachers of Lukasz Milewski, one of the victims, met at his...

At dusk on Monday, the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, residents across the Tucson valley will be able to look up and see two pillars of light streaking toward the sky from "A" Mountain. The beams of light that will flank the red, white and blue "A" on the mountain are intended to mimic the "Tribute in Light" that occurs annually on Sept. 11 in Lower Manhattan. It was all supposed to be a secret until Monday night. "Our original goal was to turn on the lights and not tell anyone," said Tucson developer Jim Campbell, who...

On the eve of the fifth anniversary of 9/11, Harvard's Kennedy School of Government showcases Mohammed Khatami, former president of Iran. Khatami gets the royal treatment although the U.S. State Department places Iran on the A-List as a state sponsor of terrorism. Another triumph for enemy propagandists. This week marks the fifth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist strikes on our nation. How best to honor the memories of the nearly 3000 fallen from those vicious attacks? Let's start with the lunacy emerging from distinguished Harvard University. The oldest institution of higher learning in the United States has stepped forward...
