After a cold and rainy Christmas Day Rally at Walter Reed, Olney was the FReepers Christmas Gift. A misty rain was still there, blowing all over our glasses, but it was sufficiently warm that no gloves were needed. At least I didn't wear any. And the State Highway Administration has provided us with another flag pole support. BELOW LEFT: The new signal pole that will hold some additional flags. I’m putting up one flag on the power pole but the new pole will hold two. BELOW RIGHT: Lurker Bill setting up a banner on the soon to be torn down...

Two thousand brave cold, snow for Palin book signing in Fairfax

Sarah Palin brought a taste of the Alaska winter with her to a Saturday book signing at the BJ's Wholesale Club in Fairfax. After alternating between drizzle and rain for much of the night Friday, snow flurries began in earnest about 8:30 a.m. "I wanted to feel like I was at home" Palin said, as she walked into the store while the first snowfall of the season soaked a crowd of about 2,000 people who came to meet her.

PLANO – Sarah Palin, political rock star and self-proclaimed "rogue" of the Grand Old Party, swept into town on Friday. snip "I love Sarah Palin," said Margaret J. I think she's so special." Palin struck a familiar pose, too, looking very much like the folksy yet fashionable presidential candidate her most avid fans hope to see in 2012. Tonight was no different. Very windy, making the hi 40’s seem like the lo 30’s. Even so, eleven of us were in place during the evening.
What I saw at the Palin Booksigning (Roanoke)

Got to Valley View Mall at 8:30pm (our drive was about 90 min). Before eating dinner with family at Abuelo's Mexican, decided to swing by the Barnes and Noble. Asked my wife if she thought there'd be a line (the signing was next morning at 10am) -- she said "no way". She was surprised (she's a big Palin fan, but gets her news through me as English is not her first language) -- well there was of course a line of chairs and tents that was already very long. It made our dinner at Abuelo's more hurried than we planned....

Her father, Chuck Heath, seated to her left, shakes people's hands and asks their names. Palin greets each fan with a quick 'Thank you, thank you' and grasps a hand if a fan offers, her smile barely budging.
