I have decided to start a thread focusing on edible weeds. Many of the common plants we see everyday are edible, and while most are not hugely palatable or nutritious, a few are truly very good. If you would like to post a recipe, please post recipes related to these plants only. As always, an extreme amount of caution is advised. It's probably true that 90 percent or so of plants are actually edible, there is a small percentage that if you eat them, you WON'T have to worry about eating again! Oleander comes to mind, it would take less...

Yes, he's cutting the military budget...in the midst of two wars. Think about that; he is cutting back on supplies, health care, VA funding and everything else while simultaneously pushing a bill that includes $4-billion plus for "neighborhood stabilization"--read ACORN. Obama needs his base right about now and he'll do anything to get their support, including sentencing our men and women of the military to substandard conditions. That will result in deaths to those who joined to protect our nation.

News services in Israel are on fire with talk that Barack Obama has just sent a supporter of the terror group Hamas as his envoy to Syria and Egypt to relay news of his policies to come. Last September Israel's suspicions were heated up about "former" Obama advisor Robert Malley being sent to Syria with a George Soros funded group. It was then claimed by Egyptian sources that Malley was still working as an advance man for Obama which angered Israelis because six months earlier Malley announced that he had held "regular meetings" with Hamas. At that time, Malley's comment...

JERUSALEM – Hamas held a meeting in the Gaza Strip several months ago with aides to President-elect Barack Obama, but the terror group was asked to keep the contacts secret until after last week's elections, according to a senior Hamas official. Ahmed Yousef, Hamas' chief political adviser in Gaza, told the leading Al-Hayat Arabic-language newspaper Hamas has maintained regular communication with Obama aides that even continued during the past week. "We were in contact with a number of Obama's aides through the Internet, and later met with some of them in Gaza, but they advised us not to come out...

"One item apparently on Mr. Obama's agenda would restrict offshore drilling still again. Brilliant, isn't it? Just as the price of gasoline is going down, to the relief of the nation, the president would send a signal that we're not serious about developing our own resources. This would bring warmth to the hearts of assorted mullahs, princes and other managerial types, and the price of gas at the pump would shoot up again. Before signing such an executive order, to appease radical environmental groups, Mr. Obama might consider the meaning of such terms as "political suicide," "approval rating," and "one-term...

A curious thing has happened as Americans were choosing their first black president. Democracy suddenly ceased to be a bad word for many genuine democrats in the Middle East. In the aftermath of the war on Iraq and as part of President George W. Bush's attempts to win the hearts and minds of Arabs, a public democracy campaign was launched aimed at injecting Arabs with the democracy virus. Millions of dollars and years later, the effort had been pronounced a failure. Democracy salespeople had a problem selling their goods while the Bush administration was occupying Iraq, supporting the continued occupation...

Mr Farrakhan, 75, said Senator Obama's presidential candidacy had excited the nation in a way not seen since Robert Kennedy ran for the White House in 1968, and that he had been moved by the "oneness of spirit" he saw among voters, particularly on election night in Chicago. Barack Obama will enter the White House without any military experience and with a playbook that emphasizes diplomacy, behind a president who waged two wars and presided over some of the largest-ever defense budget increases. So, how will President Obama be received at the Pentagon? Much depends on his first moves. One of his senior security advisers, former Rep. Lee Hamilton (D-Ind.), said even though the president-elect has experience on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he’ll need a strong defense team that works together well.

Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign slogan, "the audacity of hope," should have instead been "the audacity of deceit." After months of telling the American people that he supports the Second Amendment, and only hours after being declared the president-elect, the Obama transition team website announced an agenda taken straight from the anti-gun lobby--four initiatives designed to ban guns and drive law-abiding firearm manufacturers and dealers out of business: "Making the expired federal assault weapons ban permanent." She is the half-sister of Obama’s father, Barack Obama Sr. and is believed to be the “Aunti Zeituni” in Obama’s memoir, “Dreams From My Father.” Two women who know Onyango and live in the same housing complex off West Broadway said they hadn’t seen Onyango in...
  • Romney: Obama must be 'educator-in-chief' (Romney "schools" Obama on the economy)

Mitt Romney offers his advice to Barack Obama, and his views on labor unions, federal bailouts, Detroit, protectionism, and America's debts. Any management advice for the next president? The unions have helped Barack Obama. They will hope to be paid back. I'm particularly concerned that organized labor would call on Barack Obama to pass the card check program. This removes from American workers the right to the secret ballot in deciding whether or not to accept a union. This legislation would do more to harm America's long-term competitiveness than almost anything I can imagine. It would be a partisan payback...

Barack Obama - U.S. Senator for Illinois - obama.senate.gov 'Call to Renewal' Keynote Address Wednesday, June 28, 2006 Washington, DC Good morning. I appreciate the opportunity to speak here at the Call to Renewal's Building a Covenant for a New America conference. I've had the opportunity to take a look at your Covenant for a New America. It is filled with outstanding policies and prescriptions for much of what ails this country. So I'd like to congratulate you all on the thoughtful presentations you've given so far about poverty and justice in America, and for putting fire under the...

We have reported on a number of incidents—almost all of them before the election—of Obama supporters and allies feeling emboldened in a rather scary way. Weasel Zippers posts on another such incident in . . . Chicago: Arrests at Obama Victory Rally, Woman Yells "White [expletive], [expletive] McCain--you White Police Can't do Nothing Anymore"...Then Proceeds to Slap a White Cop..... No doubt there was a fair amount of people who voted for Obama thinking that when Obama is president, I'll get what's coming to me.That's kind of lame, in that it's the typical lazy human impulse that gives seemingly...

President-Elect Senator Barack Obama’s running mate, Senator Joe Biden forecast that Obama would be tested by an international crisis within six-months of taking office. However, barely hours after Obama won, three governments all put in their own bids to make the forecast come true. Russia announced it was stepping up the pressure on Poland. “Poland’s agreement to allow U.S. weapons on its soil is an act of aggression we cannot overlook,” said Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. “We reserve to ourselves the right to take preemptive intervention should we deem it necessary.” Iran demanded that Obama pull U.S. forces from the...

News comes today that Loui Luieye Farrakhan, the admitted Jew hater, sees Barak Obama as the "New Beginning". This isn't surprising, considering that they are neighbors and Barak was with Farrakhan during the Million Man March. What is surprising is that Farrakhan said this: Farrakhan painted many McCain voters as older whites living below the Mason-Dixon line, and said it pains those people to see a black person in power. He urged the crowd to reach out to people who may not like seeing blacks succeed, and help them change their views. I personally don't think that McCain voters think...

There's a coming crisis looming that may make every situation the world has faced since World War II look like a children's game. President-elect Obama isn't ready for it. Are you? There is already historical precedent that Israel will attack Iran during the U.S. Presidential transition. Israel attacked a target in Lebanon in December of 1988 - during the Reagan-Bush transition. In a Jerusalem Post article Historian Benny Morris describes that operation, and notes: The operation took place one month after US President George H. Bush was voted into office, and a month before he was sworn in, replacing the...

Hamas strongman Mahmoud Zahar on Friday said he hoped that Barack Obama's presidential election victory would open a new page in relations between the U.S. and the Muslim world. However, Zahar said he does not expect immediate change in U.S policy toward Hamas. The Bush administration is boycotting the Palestinian Islamist group, along with most of the international community.

Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005 9:08 a.m. EST Saddam's Hangman Details Torture One of Saddam Hussein's official hangmen is speaking to the media for the first time - offering a firsthand account of some of the torture techniques he used on Saddam's orders. Recalling his time working at Iraq's notorious Abu Ghraib prison, Abu Hussein [last name withheld] recalled that a new batch of political prisoners was brought in - without being charged with a crime - every week. Deserters from Iraq's war with Iran faced the firing squad, the hangman told Reuters, while prisoners who had insulted Saddam were hanged...
