Letter: Where's the EO's coverage of ACORN controversy?

I recently read an item on your editorial page that I would like to comment on. In the article the author claimed to be a "serious journalist" who reported the "important events of the day." It seems that "important events" are in the judgment of the reporter. Of all the EO's reporters, not one word has ever been reported of the scandalous activities of ACORN. Not only were they trying to pervert the outcome of our national elections, but tried to help import underage girls to be prostitutes. Then they advised how the people involved could cheat on their income...

Fannie / Freddie - What Does Treasury Know?

Fannie / Freddie - What Does Treasury Know? by: Karl DenningerDecember 25, 2009 On Christmas Eve one would think you could have a nice evening with your family. Little did I know what Timmy Geithner had up his sleeve: The two companies, the largest sources of mortgage financing in the U.S., are currently under government conservatorship and have caps of $200 billion each on backstop capital from the Treasury. Under the new agreement announced today, these limits can rise as needed to cover net worth losses through 2012. I see. But I thought housing was getting better? That's what I...

Rock The Vote Sinks to New Lows for Obamacare [Says No Sex For Those Opposing ObamaCare]

Monday, 21 Dec 2009 12:11 PM Article Font Size By: James Hirsen Despite widespread public opposition to the current healthcare reform package, which is slated to be passed by the Senate on Christmas Eve, advocates have a new tool in their arsenal to court younger voters. Sex, what else? Rock the Vote, the celebrity weighted group that tries to reel in votes for Dems, recently released a video that encourages young folks to use sexual favors, or the withholding thereof, as a means of persuasion. Libs of the past made a career out of ridiculing abstinence programs. But some Rock...

Lawmakers Only Now Finding Out ACORN Eligible For Funding In Senate HealthCare Bill

I heard about it on the radio, this morning as Michelle Bachmann informed Glenn Becks’s sub, Chris Baker about the ACORN provision, one of the eleventh hour additions made behind closed doors. These Dems are absolutely brazen. Roland Burris is claiming credit: The provision he cites, found on pages 240 through 248 of the manager’s amendment, requires that six different agencies each establish an “Office of Minority Health.” The agencies are the “Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the...

Demcare and the race hustlers: It’s not just about ACORN

The Weekly Standard’s John McCormack reports tonight that Illinois Democrat Sen. Roland Burris is claiming credit for inserting a provision that may benefit ACORN. But it’s not just the ACORN angle that’s scandalous. It’s the race hustler shakedown. Why, oh, why do we need to be funding massive new federal bureaucracies to create separate “Offices of Minority Health” in six separate health care agencies:

ACORN Qualifies for Funding in Senate Health Care Bill

Senator Roland Burris is claiming credit for a provision in Harry Reid's "manager's amendment," unveiled Saturday morning, that could funnel money to ACORN through the health care bill. On December 9, Burris, an Illinois Democrat, pledged that he would filibuster a health care bill without a public option. "If we have to get 60 and it comes back and it does not have a public option in it, I will not vote for it," he said. Then early last week he said he could vote for the bill if there were changes made to achieve the goals of the public...

D.C. ACORN Chair Says Corruption Streams from Top Down

The chairwoman of the Washington, D.C.-Northern Virginia chapter of ACORN said corruption in the organization stems from a top-down approach, as decisions for more than 300 affiliate organizations are made by about 30 or 40 individuals. Marcel Reid, who headed the board of the D.C. chapter of the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN), explained how she and other board members are now in "exile" for asking too many questions about the finances of the national organization in 2007 and 2008. Further, she said the organization was so cleverly set up that it would be difficult to investigate...

Bigger Than Watergate

ACORN critic Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) is mystified that both the Democratic-controlled Congress and the Obama administration aren't doing much about the tax-subsidized organized crime syndicate ACORN even as evidence of its wrongdoing continues to pile up. In an exclusive interview, the House Judiciary Committee member describes the ACORN saga as "the largest corruption crisis in the history of America." "It's thousands of times bigger than Watergate because Watergate was only a little break-in by a couple of guys," said King. "By the time we pull ACORN out by its roots America's going to understand just how big this is."...

Lieberman, a Connecticut independent, currently is the target of liberal wrath over his opposition to a government-run insurance plan in the health care bill.
The Working Families Party has irregularly reported rent payments over the years on its state campaign finance disclosures, leading some to question whether the Party has been getting what could be considered large in-kind contributions in the form of office space. Also among the recipients of rent payments was an entity called NYOSCI, listed on multiple documents as having an address in New Orleans identical to one used by many ACORN entities on incorporation documents. NYOSCI has been the recipient of most of the Party’s recent rent payments, though some have also been made to Community Labor Administrative Services, a...

How did he achieve so much with so little? He founded a 527 group which funded candidates in one kind of race in which the victor has the most influence over election integrity, and in which there is so little political competition: the Secretaries of State.
