Brian Ulch, of Trinity Lighthouse Church in Denison, packs a pistol and says he feels a great sense of responsibility to protect his congregation. "Our desire is to be able to meet any need that comes through our doors, whether it's ministry, medical or an active threat," Ulch said. Ulch said increased threats against houses of worship inspired him to make a choice. "We sought out to what we could...

After the carnage like we’ve witnessed in American cities such as San Bernardino and Orlando, and more recently in Europe, the national conversation tends to shift temporarily back toward gun control legislation and how to best protect ourselves in the homeland from future terrorist attacks. Sadly, however, what is always absent from these post-tragedy conversations is any mention of one change with enormous potential to save lives—one which would not require controversial legislation, millions of dollars, nor procurement of expensive advanced technologies. This change includes an overdue re-examination of how unarmed civilians should respond during these events, including how federal,...

This summer, deadly terrorist attacks and crimes have taken place across the world and have many wondering how they can be safe even in the United States or Western Europe. This violence has been conducted with a range of weapons—including a suicide bomb in Ansbach, Germany, a truck in Nice, France, a rifle at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, and a pistol in Munich, Germany, last weekend. While most of these are clear cases of terrorism, the investigation is still ongoing in Munich.Such violence will likely continue and every American should take the time to think about what they would...

Experts say yes, and that Dallas is just the beginning A cop-killing suspect died Friday when Dallas police detonated a “bomb robot” at his parking garage hideout, using a possibly unprecedented policing tactic after 5 officers were shot dead. But are American police actually allowed to blow up a suspect? Legal experts says under certain circumstances, the answer probably is yes, though special considerations differentiate killings using robotics and explosives from more common defensive shootings. The precise details of the robot-bombing are unclear, and experts say facts are essential to the legal analysis, even if existing principles governing use of...

Help! I'm doing research on improving our security at work. I'm trying to find an article posted here a couple of years ago. Someone put a lot of effort in to find out the difference in victim count when people waited for police to show up and end a mass shooting vs people on site taking action to end a shooting. I remember there being fewer victims when people didn't wait for the police. Thanks in advance!

A few days ago, on 21 January, Military.com White House Correspondent Bryant Jordan wrote an article about the Air Force reviewing its policies on allowing trained military personnel to carry concealed or openly, on and off duty, to supplement official guards and military police.      Picture from Human Events One of the most popular articles that I have written was "Mass Killings Stopped by Armed Citizens".  The article is a compilation of documented cases where armed citizens stopped what would likely have become mass killings before they occured.  Such incidents are usually spiked by the media because the body count is either non-existent or too low to meed the FBI criteria of a mass killing. It appears that the Air Force has got the memo.  In an article From military.com: The Air Force on Wednesday said its review of "active-shooter incidents across the country"...
