Yesterday we took note of former Reagan State Department official Elliott Abrams' piece over at NRO that went after Newt Gingrich on his relationship with Reagan. While voting regularly with Reagan as a young congressman from Georgia, Gingrich, claimed Abrams, "often spewed insulting rhetoric at Reagan, his top aides and his policies to defeat Communism." Abrams then goes on to cite " a famous floor statement Gingrich made on March 21, 1986." Or sort of cites it. In fact, I'm sorry to say, what appears to be going on here is that Elliott Abrams, a considerably admirable public servant and...

We have witnessed something very disturbing this week. The Republican establishment which fought Ronald Reagan in the 1970s and which continues to fight the grassroots Tea Party movement today has adopted the tactics of the left in using the media and the politics of personal destruction to attack an opponent. We will look back on this week and realize that something changed. I have given numerous interviews wherein I espoused the benefits of thorough vetting during aggressive contested primary elections, but this week’s tactics aren’t what I meant. Those who claim allegiance to Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment should stop and...

Norm Coleman, an advisor to Romney, went on record saying We’re not going to do repeal. Thanks to Dan Riehl for this. There’s a short excerpt of a 1988 C-SPAN video purportedly showing Newt Gingrich bashing Reagan when talking about how Bush, Sr. should run. As I suspected, it’s edited to give a false impression. What you don’t see is immediately after when Gingrich praises Reaganism and the Reagan platform. If you can’t watch it all, it begins at about 2:30 in to confirm it’s the same segment. It’s the minute or two afterward you also need to hear to understand that Newt wasn’t bashing Reagan at all. See Video here...go viral.

LE MARS, Iowa — Newt Gingrich’s campaign said on Wednesday that it had raised close to $9 million in the last quarter of the year, a significant improvement over the six-figure sum it raised over the summer, reflecting a flood of small donors who responded to Mr. Gingrich’s debate performances and propelled his surge to the top of polls this month. But as his momentum has evaporated under the assault of rival campaigns, especially those of the better financed candidates Mitt Romney and Representative Ron Paul of Texas, Mr. Gingrich plans to spend nearly all of his available cash in...

Would you be outraged if the Department of Justice shut down The Foundry [1] without any warning and blocked access for more than a year? That’s exactly what happened to a hip-hop blog called [2], which was falsely accused of criminal copyright infringement [3]. The blog posted music from artists promoting their work. But federal authorities viewed it differently. They seized the domain name, then shared virtually no information with its owner for more than year. Only recently did they quietly drop the case [4]. The government’s handling of this hip-hop blog is fueling fears about legislation moving quickly...

I just started a new facebook page as a place for grassroots conservatives to urge Virginia to allow the leading Republican contender for the presidency onto the Virginia ballot. Gingrich is the Republican leader nationwide and in Virginia! It's absolutely ludicrous, if not criminal, for Virginia to deny the conservative base and tea party favorite a spot on the ballot while they promote their elite ruling class RINO! Do not allow Virginia to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of conservative grassroots voters who would mark their ballots for Newt Gingrich! Adding insult to injury, they don't even allow write-ins on their...

~~snip~~ "A Gingrich campaign official prior to the move by the Republican Party of Virginia said the problem is how the rules are set up, arguing that the party is, for apparently the first time, cross-checking the addresses that signature-givers gave against the electronic voter database file for accuracies. A name without a proper address match was tossed, the official said."

After a breezy time on the corner for the Olney Freep, several FReepers spent an hour or so at the Olney Compound before heading out to Lurker Bill’s for the DC Chapter’s Christmas Party. As everyone is aware, winter is creeping closer. In the western parts of Maryland there has been several "measurable" snow falls. I know, several inches is nothing compared to some places, but here in Maryland, it is the talk of the day. The colder weather is still bearable but the wind today made it uncomfortable. The flags looked good though. BufordP - This flag is for you. Patriots in Olney on this Saturday are: Lurker Bill and FReepers Fraxinus, GunsAreOK, iMacMan, [Mrs] T and myself. iMacMan has been out with us the last month or so. iMac is a "cold...
