SNIPPET: "There are some good reasons for allowing at least a few jihadi forums to operate." SNIPPET: "However, there are limits to our ability to exploit all the intelligence opportunities a forum may present. To put it another way, jihadi forums contribute to future terrorism in ways that are unpredictable and/or beyond our ability to control. This would be the view held by those other government agencies who prefer to seek out and destroy forums and to take down forum activists. For my part, I can live with keeping online those forums we have sufficient access to monitor and resources...

A top Republican has rejected the notion that Congress should re-examine the nation's gun laws after al Qaeda urged Muslims to attack America by exploiting loose firearm rules. Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said tightening gun laws to address the threat would be to surrender to terrorists at the expense of Americans' rights. “We’ve seen time and again that terrorists will use anything, including our own rights and freedoms, to plot attacks against innocent Americans,” Smith said in an email. “But simply because terrorists abuse our liberties doesn’t mean that we should limit the...

In a new video message released on the internet Friday, American-born al Qaeda spokesman Adam Gadahn calls on Muslims living in America to carry out deadly one-man terrorist acts using fully automatic weapons purchased at gun shows, and to target major institutions and public figures. "What are you waiting for?" asks Gadahn in English, and then adds that jihadis shouldn't worry about getting caught, since so many have been released. "Over these past few years, I've seen the release of many, many Mujahideen whom I had never even dreamed would regain their freedom." The two-part, two hour video appeared on...

In a chilling new video, U.S. born Al-Qaeda spokesman Adam Gadahn calls on American Muslims to buy weapons from gun shows and carry out random, lone-wolf attacks. The video, called 'Do Not Rely on Others, Take the Task Upon Yourself', was produced by al Qaeda's as Sahab media team and shows 32-year-old Gadahn speaking alongside old clips of Ayman al-Zawahiri and Osama Bin laden.

An Al Qaeda call-to-arms video released in Detroit by a U.S. intelligence agency hints that terror attacks may be coming to the U.S. and parts of Europe, MyFoxDetroit reports. Adam Gadahn, Al Qaeda’s American-born spokesman, posted a 40-minute video on terrorist Web sites on Sunday, looking to attract local Muslims in sparking terrorism attacks. Gadahn urged Muslims living “in the miserable suburbs of Paris, London and Detroit” to stage religiously motivated attacks on targets in Europe and the United States. "It is the duty of everyone who is sincere in his desire to defend Islam and Muslims today, to take...

(Detroit, MI) -- A senior al-Qaida leader is calling for Muslims living in metro Detroit to commit terrorist attacks in the U.S. In a 48-minute recording released on Saturday, Adam Gadahn called upon Muslims living in "the miserable suburbs of Paris, London, Detroit" to attack Americans.

Al Qaeda's American mouthpiece Saturday urged wannabe terrorists in a new video to act alone instead of trying to join cells attempting 9/11-type spectacular strikes. Californian Adam Gadahn urged individual violent jihad in a 40-minute tape, which endorsed an Al Qaeda ally's call last week for sympathizers to mimic the Ft. Hood killings and attempted bombings over Detroit last Christmas and in Times Square in May. "My brothers: know that Jihad is your duty," Gadahn ranted in Arabic. "You have an opportunity to strike the leaders of unbelief and retaliate against them on their own soil."

If al-Qaida looks and sounds different as we approach 9/11's ninth anniversary, it's because it's under new American management. No fewer than four U.S. citizens and a permanent U.S. resident have risen to senior leadership posts. These five English-speaking leaders are actively planning or facilitating attacks against their countrymen, while recruiting and radicalizing other American turncoats to carry them out. By remaking itself into an American enterprise, al-Qaida is now more lethal than ever. Its new generation of leaders understands the way America works, having lived here for decades. They have a better sense of our security blind spots. They...

SNIPPET: "KARACHI: Pakistani security agents denied on Monday that an American al Qaeda spokesman wanted in the United States for treason had been arrested, saying there had been confusion over the identity of a detained suspect." SNIPPET: "Some Pakistani officials had said on Sunday that Adam Gadahn, a California-born convert to Islam with a $1 million US bounty on his head, had been arrested on the outskirts of the city of Karachi. But a senior government official and two security agents said on Monday the suspected al Qaeda operative picked up in Karachi was not Gadahn. “Our initial impression was...

Authorities in Pakistan were backing away Thursday from reports that they had arrested Adam Gadahn, a U.S.-born spokesman for al Qaeda. Two senior Pakistani government officials said Sunday that investigators in that country had arrested Gadahn, who has been indicted for treason in the United States. U.S. counterterrorism officials told CNN, however, that they had received no indication from Pakistan that any American had been arrested. One official said there was "no validity" to reports of Gadahn's arrest. Another called the reports "bogus." On Thursday, a senior Pakistani intelligence official told CNN that Gadahn was not in custody. So did...

U.S.-Born al Qaeda Arrest News Found False Detained Taliban Militant's Identify Verified, Ending Confusion Over Reports of Adam Gadahn's Detention in Pakistan (CBS) An "important Taliban militant" was arrested today in Pakistan. But that is where the confusion started. Earlier it was reported by Pakistani media that intelligence agents had arrested Adam Gadahn, the American-born spokesman for al Qaeda, in an operation in the southern city of Karachi. It was further reported by the Associated Press and Reuters that Gadahn had been arrested, sourcing security officials. CBS News was told by sources in the Pakistan government that it was Gadahn,...

Abu Yahya was arrested on Sunday from an area surrounding the super highway, on the outskirts of Karachi." SNIPPET: "Pennsylvania-born Abu Yahya is a US citizen and assumed to be a commander of foreign militants fighting in Afghanistan against the US. ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — An American Qaeda operative was arrested in the sprawling southern city of Karachi in recent days by Pakistani security officials, Pakistani officials said Sunday. American and Pakistani officials said the man arrested was Abu Yahya Mujahdeen Al-Adam, who was described as having been born in Pennsylvania and who was thought to be affiliated with the operations division of Al Qaeda, commanding fighters in Afghanistan. Little else was known about him, American officials said, and it was not immediately clear that American officials were involved in the arrest. Initial reports seemed to have confused the American with Adam...

The NEFA Foundation has obtained a new video recording of most wanted American Al-Qaida spokesman Adam Yehiye Gadahn, titled "Let's Continue our Jihad and Sacrifice." SNIPPET: "Now how does Adam Gadahn’s video earlier this month in, “The Mujahideen Do Not Target Muslims” at all fit with attacks on people watching volleyball games? American-Born Al Qaeda Spokesman Adam Gadahn Arrested in Pakistan

In a 25-minute video titled “A Call to Arms” posted to militant Islamic Web sites on Sunday, Al Qaeda’s American-born spokesman Adam Gadahn called on Muslims serving in the U.S. armed forces to emulate Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan charged with killing 13 people in Fort Hood, “Brother Nidal is the ideal role-model for every repentant Muslim in the armies of the unbelievers and apostate regimes.” Dressed in white robes and turban, Gadahn, known as Azzam al-Amriki, called for attacks on what he described as “high-value targets.” “You shouldn’t make the mistake of thinking that military bases are the only...

The Obama administration is already being flaky about where to try confessed 9/11 terrorist mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Will Obama's Justice Department, headed up by Attorney General Eric Holder, fold and not follow through with the treason charge made in 2006 by the Bush Justice Department? What about an interrogation of Gadahn?

It was only a few hours after this latest incitement to murder and mayhem that Pakistani officials announced that they had captured Gadahn. It was, as a news report in New York Daily News put it, “a huge victory” for the good guys, i.e. us, we Western infidels who promote that long list of things anathema to “honest and vigilant Muslims”—things like individual freedom, freedom of religion, representative democracy, equal rights for women, and a legal system that has bid farewell to barbaric practices like stoning, flogging, amputation, and beheading. If convicted, the News notes, Gadahn faces the death penalty....

KARACHI, Pakistan – The American-born spokesman for al-Qaida has been arrested by Pakistani intelligence officers in the southern city of Karachi, two officers and a government official said Sunday, the same day Adam Gadahn appeared in a video urging U.S. Muslims to attack their own country. The arrest of Gadahn is a major victory in the U.S.-led battle against al-Qaida and will be taken as a sign that Pakistan is cooperating more fully with Washington. It follows the recent detentions of several Afghan Taliban commanders in Karachi.

Today was a big day for Adam Gadahn known in terror-land Azzam the American. Gadahn is an American-born senior operative, cultural interpreter, spokesman and media adviser for al-Qaeda, and is believed to be a close associate of Osama bin Laden. This morning al-Qaeda's media arm released the latest propaganda video made by Gadahn (seen in the picture above) and later in the day it was announced that the American Traitor was arrested by the government of Pakistan. Even though the operation was alleged to have been planned by the Taliban, the video comes from al Qaeda’s as Sahab arm. Worst news of all? On a personal note, I disagree with Senator Obama’s remedy and long term plan. I don’t think we should “spread the wealth”, as he said recently. I do not agree that one’s success and making more money, is justification for the government to then tax them at a higher rate for social programs for people that perhaps haven’t worked as hard or been as successful. I don’t agree with the government establishing programs that people begin to depend on, without incentives to become independent. This was the failure of New York City prior to Rudy Giuliani, and for every percentage...

FBI Warns of Potential Terror Attacks The FBI and Department of Homeland Security today issued an analytical "note" to U.S. law-enforcement officials cautioning that al-Qaida terrorists have in the past expressed interest in attacking public buildings using a dozen suicide bombers each carrying 20 kilograms of explosives. Authors with the U.S. Office of Intelligence and Analysis added that they have "no credible or specific information that terrorists are planning operations against public buildings in the United States." The FBI and DHS analysts said they were releasing the note because "it is important for local authorities and building owners and...

How The West Was Won The rapid and unexpected decline of the Sunni insurgency in Iraq was officially recognized this week, when Maj. Gen. John Kelly, commanding the Marine Expeditionary Force, turned operational control of Anbar Province over to the Iraqi army and police. Anbar, a vast expanse of desert the size of North Carolina, had been the stronghold of the Sunni insurgency. For years, foreign fighters loyal to al-Qaida had sneaked across Iraq's northwestern border with Syria, into Anbar and down a "rat line" of safe houses in Haditha, Ramadi and Hit. From Fallujah, the arch terrorist Zarqawi...

SANTA ANA An American propagandist for Al Qaeda who was raised in Orange County may have been killed along the Afghan-Pakistani border in an air strike by an unmanned U.S. Predator aircraft, according to intelligence experts quoted by a British newspaper. Months of attacks by unmanned US predator aircraft have caused carnage among the middle ranks of terrorist leaders in the lawless lands along the border with Afghanistan, where al-Qa'eda remains dangerous despite suffering a serious defeat in Iraq. Their victims have included experienced Arab leaders and, it is now thought, Adam Gadahn, a former heavy-metal fan and so-called "killer computer nerd" originally from California. Nothing has been heard from him for months, leading intelligence experts to conclude that he may be dead. Mr Gadahn has been credited with helping transform al-Qa'eda's al-Sahab propaganda wing into a slick operation which communicates...

Adam Gadahn, the former Californian heavy-metal headbanger turned al-Qaida mouthpiece, has vexed American officials for four years with his bombastic, and sometimes threatening, video taunts. But now U.S. officials have launched an aggressive new media campaign to try to smoke him out. In ads that have been running on more than 30 radio stations in Afghanistan, the FBI and State Department ask for the public’s help in locating Gadahn--and in the process seem to taunt the 29-year-old.

This afternoon, Al-Qaida's As-Sahab Media Foundation has released the second audio recording of Usama Bin Laden in the space of only three days--this time, openly addressed "to the Islamic nation." But, perhaps what is most interesting about Bin Laden's latest set of audio recordings is not what they contain--but rather, what they inexplicably lack: the English-language subtitles and matching transcript that have, until recently, been a customary feature of professional-quality As-Sahab videos. An analysis of the history of As-Sahab recordings and their evolution over time would seem to indicate that the responsibility for creating these English-language products fell largely on...

I’m away from the site tomorrow and wanted to end the week on a good note. Early rumors said dead; follow-up rumors said dead; late-breaking rumors said dead; Al Qaeda sources said alive; and now late late-breaking rumors say … still dead. From the NEFA report: Twelve militants were killed in a single missile attack on a residential compound in Khushali Wazir in the Mirali tehsil during the night of January 28. A loud explosion rocked the area at 11:22 p.m. According to well-informed NEFA sources in Pakistan, among those reportedly killed in the attack were senior al-Qa’ida commander Abu...

I've been hearing the same speculations and rumors that Laura Mansfield has that Adam Gadahn, the only American indicted for treason since 9/11, was killed in the Predator bombing that took out Abu Laith al-Libi. Al-Libi was a bigger fish, but taking out America's number one traitor would be so sweet. The first indication that the rumors might be true were confirmations that computers and a satellite phone were found among the rubble. Sure, could mean nothing, and maybe this is just wishful thinking making the rounds as hope filled rumors, but, like I said, if there is one person...
