NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Country singer Trace Adkins will perform prior to President Donald Trump's appearance on stage during his visit to Nashville on Tuesday. Trump will be in town stumping for Rep. Marsha Blackburn, who is running for Senate. Blackburn hopes to take the seat currently filled by Senator Bob Corker. Adkins will perform before Trump takes the stage at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium for the rally. Adkins is no stranger to the president, appearing on the Celebrity Apprentice in 2008.

A 17-year-old Texas high school student was shot and killed while trying to sell marijuana to two suspects on Christmas Eve, police said. The incident took place shortly after 9pm on Sunday when officers with the Irving Police Department responded to a shooting report in the 200 block of Red River Trail. Arriving at the scene, the cops found 17-year-old Brett Adkins, of Plano, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the left chest.

The psychologist who helped pull off the biggest Social Security fraud in U.S. history was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison. Alfred Bradley Adkins was part of the fraud ring orchestrated by Eric C. Conn, one of the country’s most prominent disability lawyers, and David B. Daugherty, a Social Security judge who rubber-stamped at least 1,700 bogus applications for benefits. All told, the scam would have cost the government at least $600 million in fraudulent lifetime benefits, according to the government’s conservative estimate. Police have yet to charge a black motorist who shot dead a mentally disabled and unarmed "white Hispanic," Daniel Adkins, in a Taco Bell parking lot near Phoenix earlier this month. The two reportedly exchanged words before the shooting that occurred, according to some accounts, after the motorist almost ran over Adkins who then banged his fist on the car's windshield. The April 3 shooting by the 22-year-old black man -- whom police in suburban Laveen have yet to identify -- has gotten little if any coverage by the national media. LAVEEN - Police are saying more about a shooting at a Taco Bell Tuesday night in which one man died. They're also identifying the victim as 29-year-old Daniel Adkins. The U.S. State Department says one of its diplomats has been found dead in his home in Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa. A State Department official, who asked not to be identified, said 25-year-old Brian Adkins was found dead Saturday. The official says U.S. diplomatic security is investigating the death as a suspected homicide. The State Department has not officially released details of Adkins' death. Adkins was a foreign service officer in the consular section of the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa. He was on his first diplomatic assignment."

OLATHE -- Gov. Bill Graves has jumped into a controversy over a campaign ad attacking the attorney general candidate he has endorsed in the Republican primary.
