Seventh Day Adventistsby Sebastian R. FamaThe main difference between Seventh Day Adventists and other Protestants is their adherence to Sabbath worship. They reason that since Exodus 20:19 establishes Saturday as the Jewish Sabbath, Christians ought to worship on Saturday. They rightfully claim that the Catholic Church changed the day of worship from the Sabbath (Saturday) to the Lord’s Day (Sunday). However, they wrongfully claim that such an act was illicit. Scripture speaks of an Old Covenant and a New Covenant. The Old Covenant was in effect until the coming of the Messiah [Jesus]. Once Jesus came He established a New...
  • (SDA Caucus) What do Adventists Believe

To start of the caucus threads I thought I would do one addressing what Adventists believe since other threads had talked about it and debated it. This thread I believe will stay in caucus rules as it in no way will contrast SDA views with other religions but only state our views. If some one wants to debate a view then they can start an open thread on that one view and see who is interested in the debate.

I would personally like to thank those Seventh-day Adventists who have adopted the Joel Osteen version of Christianity. Finally, Seventh-day Adventists now have a popular message that appeals to the mass of humanity. Who in the Adventist church of the 19th or 20th century would have even imagined that the most important message in the world today is that we need to pursue feeling good about ourselves and just love everybody? There is no question that many Seventh-day Adventists are following Joel Osteen's lead and happily dismiss every teaching of the Bible that creates argument and controversy. Giving credit where...
  • Ellen G. White Rebuked Adventist Leaders for Not Thinking for Themselves

"Do your own work.—The subjects which many of our ministers present before the people are not half as connected and as clear and strong in argument as they should be. They profess to be teachers of the Word, but they sadly neglect to search the Scriptures for themselves. They are content to use the arguments which are prepared in pamphlets and books, and which others have labored earnestly to search out; but they are not willing to tax their minds to study them out for themselves. In order to make full proof of their ministry, those who open the Word...

Toxic Tugs - Public Poisons by J.B. Stone - 04/17/02 What do Maryland, Utah, Alaska, Hawaii, Johnston Atoll, and the Marshall Islands have in common? BioChemical warfare tests were conducted in all of them behind a blinding haze of Cold War secrecy. And hardly a word of warning was ever issued, before during, or afterward the test conductors, subjects, or citizens living in surrounding areas. Marine jets and Army artillery sprayed "harmless simulants" and live biological and chemical agents on unsuspecting citizens for 15 years on land and sea during Operation Deseret. The randomly selected human test rats onboard ships...

It could be the ultimate whodunit. Fifty people live on the island, 12 may be suspected of engaging in child sex — and the future of all is in jeopardy. They are the descendants of the sailors of the Bounty — the infamous British warship whose crew mutinied in 1789 and went ashore at Pitcairn Island in the South Pacific Ocean. The last trial on the British protectorate was 105 years ago. Pitcairners are now dreading the prospect of another trial, which could tear the island community apart. No charges have been filed yet, and the prosecutor has declined give...
