While the prevailing "wisdom" of the day continues to suggest Beltway sniper suspects John Muhammad and John Lee Malvo acted without inspiration – let alone direction – from Islamic terrorists, growing circumstantial evidence suggests just the opposite. Police are now investigating whether Malvo and Muhammad may be connected to a March 19 shooting at a golf course in Tucson, Ariz. Jerry R. Taylor, 60, was shot and fatally wounded on that day while practicing chip shots at the Fred Enke Golf Course. He was killed by a single shot to the chest from long range. Federal authorities are investigating whether accused snipers John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo had ties to a growing sect of militant American Muslims committed to waging holy war against the United States. Law-enforcement authorities yesterday said investigators want to know whether the suspects — now awaiting separate murder trials in Virginia — were involved with Jamaat al-Fuqra, a militant Muslim group with documented ties to international terrorism that has been linked to 13 slayings and 17 firebombings in the United States and Canada. The al-Fuqra network, through an offshoot group known as the Muslims of America, has established a...

Sniper suspect John Muhammad fits the profile of a disaffected outcast who becomes increasingly radicalized under the influence of Islamism, say terrorism analysts and investigators, who suspect he is connected with the radical Islamist group, al-Fuqra. According to Christian M. Weber, contributing editor for Soldiers for the Truth, an organization headed by Col. Who is doing these random 'snipings' in and around our nation's capital? The media is of course focusing on a 'Son of Sam' type solo, deranged nutball. And maybe they are right. FBI profilers have become frequent TV Talking Heads opining on who this shooter is. Two men means a conspiracy – and it also means planning, talking, debating and some sort of direction and chain of command. Now,...

President's bodyguards join hunt for sniper From Tim Reid in Washington THE hunt for a sniper whose killing spree has been terrifying Washington was stepped up yesterday, with members of the Secret Service who normally protect the President and foreign embassies sent to guard schools and highways. Yesterday, a $160,000 (£102,000) reward was...
