An 18-year-old girl has been left with horrific injuries after she was attacked by a gang of men for wearing a bikini. Jessica Byrnes-Laird from Haughton, Louisiana, stopped at a local convenience store on the way back from the beach with her boyfriend on Sunday. Surveillance footage shows the group of men then approached the car and started catcalling her. Seven young males from a Minneapolis basketball Amateur Athletic Union program were arrested and charged with misdemeanors in Wichita, Kan., after assaulting at least three homeless people in downtown Wichita over the weekend, police said. The young males, ages 12 to 18, were in Wichita to play in the Mid America Youth Basketball championships. A 10-month-old baby is in intensive care after her uncle allegedly mixed her formula with alcohol, Dothan police said Friday. Dothan police charged Dontavian Lee McCree, 19, with felony torture child abuse after hospital staff discovered the baby had ingested alcohol. The Dothan Eagle reports the baby was admitted around 1:30 p.m. Thursday but her condition had improved by Friday. A 91-year-old Ocala woman was beaten by two suspects who broke into her residence early Saturday morning, according to the Ocala Police Department. Ocala police said it appears the burglars entered the elderly woman’s northeast Ocala home through a back window shortly before 6 a.m. and, when she heard noises, she called out to see who was inside. An Omaha police officer and a suspect involved in a shootout Wednesday have died. Kerrie Orozco, 29, a gang unit officer, was serving a warrant on the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force when she was shot. Orozco is the 25th officer – and first female – in the department killed in the line of duty.
