Thousands of Occupy protesters from across the country are expected to converge Tuesday on Capitol Hill to take their message to the halls of Congress, in what some observers say is the movement’s overdue moment to engage the American political system. Protesters already have set up camps in public spaces, taken over foreclosed homes and shut down key shipping ports, but for the most part they have shunned the political system, viewing it as beyond salvation. The congressional protest – which falls on the movement's four-month mark and the beginning of a new session of Congress – appears to represent...

Ron Paul rarely makes news, and his candidacy is frequently ignored by Beltway reporters. But headlines, his aides say, are overrated. In fact, the Texas Republican’s low-key autumn was strategic. As Paul’s competitors stumbled and sparred, he amassed a small fortune for his campaign and built a strong ground operation. And with January fast approaching, his team is ready to surprise the political world and sweep the Iowa caucuses. “This was a movement when he first started running in 2008,” says Trygve Olson, a senior Paul adviser. “Now it’s turned into a highly professionalized campaign, but the energy from that...

The man who likely has done more than anyone to put the libertarian philosophy of freedom and small government on the political agenda probably will make another run for the presidency: U.S. Rep. Ron Paul. Paul is always upbeat, but lately he's had more reason to be, as he sees libertarian ideas bubbling up from the grass roots. "People outside of Washington are waking up," he told me, "and they're getting the attention of a few in Washington." Paul has been in Congress more than 20 years, and much of that time he's played a lonely role, often being the...

http://alethonews.wordpress.com/2010/11/09/german-people-in-unprecedented-rebellion-against-government/ German people in unprecedented rebellion against government 1000 injured in nuclear protests, police at breaking point By Jane Burgermeister – November 8, 2010 Like the Roman legions vanquished in the Teutoburger Wald in Lower Saxony in 9 AD, the 17,000 police officers that marched into the woods around the nuclear storage facility in Gorleben in northern Germany on Sunday morning looked invincible. Police personnel from France, Croatia and Poland had joined in the biggest security operation ever mounted against protestors against the a train carrying nuclear waste to a depot in an isolated part of Lower Saxony’s countryside. A 22-year-old British woman is feature in the Sun newspaper in England about her story of having four abortions in the span of the last three years, including one late-term abortion done at 22 weeks into pregnancy. The interview takes place at an abortion center where Stacy Cutler watches the image of her viable late-term unborn child on an ultrasound monitor.“Cutler listens to her 22-week-old unborn child’s heartbeat – and her eyes fill with tears,” the Sun reports. “The grainy scan shows the fully developed foetus moving around inside her. But Stacy’s tears are not of joy at seeing her...

Historically, the structural and class bases of anti-Jewish feeling in Europe were inextricably linked with the ruling classes and the forces of reaction. The Catholic church propagated anti-Semitism as a matter of religious ideology as well as expediency. Landed aristocracy created the class of Jewish moneylenders, and then allied themselves with the peasants against their Jewish creditors. Reactionary regimes like the Tsarist Regime in Russia used the Jews as scapegoats for the ills of their society. [snip] Much literature and philosophy of the 19th century, especially socialist and communist literature, was permeated with anti-Semitism. Proudhon and Fourier were notorious anti-Semites....

PROTESTS Riot police used tear gas and batons on masked anarchists during mass anti-government demonstrations in France. The worst violence broke out in Paris where 30 protesters were arrested. Anger also spilled over to Marseilles and Toulouse, where students attacked windows and bus stops. Demonstrators were furious over government plans to raise the state retirement age to 62. More unrest is predicted tomorrow as France prepares for a national strike. Industrial action has already shut down 10 out of France's 12 oil refineries, sparking panic fuel buying. A police spokesman said: "Anarchists groups were leading many of the protests. Missiles...

Because the New Left lacked cohesion it fell apart as a political movement. However, its revolutionaries reorganized themselves into a multitude of single issue groups. Thus we now have for example, radical feminists, black extremists, anti-war ‘peace’ activists, animal rights groups, radical environmentalists, and ‘gay’ rights groups. All of these groups pursue their piece of the radical agenda through a complex network of subversive organizations such as the Gay Straight Lesbian Educators Network (GSLEN), the American Civil Liberties Uni0n (ACLU), People for the American Way, United for Peace and Justice, Planned Parenthood, Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United...

Labor Raid: The FBI raids the Chicago home of a local union leader looking for terrorist connections as the union's former chief is investigated for corruption. Why are we not surprised? Thuggery and corruption are not quite synonyms for unionism, but it gets very close when you consider the Service Employees International Union, formerly led by Andy Stern. From being involved in fraudulent voter registration in Texas to beating up Tea Party activists outside town hall meetings in Missouri, SEIU's reputation is well-established. Now we can possibly add a linkage to terrorism. On Friday, the FBI searched eight addresses in...

Anarchists have used the black flag as a symbol at least since the early 1880’s. The origin of the symbol is not clear, but it was adopted and bonded to anarchism during the latter half of the 19th century. Some claim it has its origin in the use of black flags by pirates, which ships were navigated over the seven seas through the work of free men and the captain usually elected and subject to instant recall. Pirates were also thoroughly hated by the ruling class(es) and the pirate symbol due to these circumstances to some extent embodied the spirit...

I am sick and tired of this site being taken over by Catholics ( of which I am one ) stories or proverbs. This is a news site not a religion site. Go do that somewhere else. I am not opposed to your prostilazion(sp), just not here. We lose credibility if any religious group dictates or can be quoted from this site. As a long term member of this site I regret posting this information, but the site has been buried in Catholic stuff recently and it should be shunted to some separate page.

Marxian socialists and anarcho-communists, and the like, want to collectivize the means of production, meaning that they are owned in common by everyone in society, such that the individual has no opportunity to own his own means of production and operate his own enterprise as he alone sees fit. This puts him in the position of having to work for the collective or starve. I can't fathom how anyone who desire individual freedom, autonomy, and self actualization would find being in the position of subservience to a tyranny of the collective appealing. To the contrary, it sounds suffocating.

On July 4th in the Bay Area of California, a group of young people who claimed to be veterans of the war in Iraq took it upon themselves to show their “love” for America in a way few do; by burning an upside-down American flag in celebration of the birthday of America’s independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. "The flag is a symbol of our unity and the blood sweat tears of those that came before us. The flag also has a purpose, some times it is a beacon or a message a warning that something is wrong. We...

“Another World Is Possible” is the slogan of the World Social Forum, an event first convened in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2001 as a challenge to the World Economic Forum, the annual gathering of the world’s political and corporate leaders in Davos, Switzerland. The possible world imagined in Brazil (and at subsequent gatherings of the World Social Forum) is based on more cooperative, sustainable, egalitarian and democratic institutions than those favored at Davos. It is designed and implemented from the bottom up rather than the top down, in opposition to both authoritarian state planning and capitalist profit maximization. “Another U.S....

ATHENS, Greece — Greek investigators examining last week’s assassination attempt on a government minister are unraveling evidence of a network of urban guerrilla groups operating across Greece, Spain and Italy. Europe’s international police agency, Europol, in its 2010 report noted a 43-percent increase over the past two years in what it terms “terrorist” strikes in these three countries. In the latest attack in Greece, the minister for the protection of the citizen, Mihalis Chrysochoidis, was sitting just meters away from a bomb that blew up inside his offices last Thursday, killing his deputy. Despite a drumroll of low-intensity terrorist attacks...

ATHENS, Greece - A bomb disguised as a gift exploded inside the Greek law enforcement ministry, killing a close ministerial aide in Greece's highest profile attack in years. Public Order Minister Michalis Chryssohoidis, who was in his office a few yards (meters) away from the blast, said the package had been intended for him. Pale and visibly shaken, but otherwise unharmed, he told reporters he had "lost a valuable and beloved associate." There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the Thursday night bombing, which killed police officer Giorgos Vassilakis, a 50-year-old father of two. But suspicion fell on radical...

A few anarchists from Greece thought it would be "fun" and "rebellious" to walk into a supermarket, steal food and money from the register and burn the money to protest the already dead capitalism in their country. Please tell me antics such as this won't happen in America any time soon. I have no other comment beyond that.

How to be a bigot under the guise of a "critic of Israel" Try and substitute 'anti-Zionist' instead of anti-Jewish, at least make sure, your references convey such messages. Avoid all humanitarian aspects of Israel's humane army in its constant fight against Arabs who trick them into firing upon civilians, ommit all the risky steps Israeli soldiers take in going house to house searching for bombs/bombers, instead of just leveling the place down (if Zionists were not caring about civilians), the repeated notification for residents to leave a certain area ahead of anti-terror operations, in order to give a chance...

In mid-May, Portland police Officer James Crooker went to Southeast Portland on a patrol call. With a few minutes to spare, he decided to get a coffee. So, he popped into the Red & Black cafe on Southeast 12th Avenue near Oak Street, bought a coffee and was heading out when a customer approached him, saying she appreciates the hard job that police officers do every day in Portland. One of the co-owners of the cafe, John Langley, has another point of view. While the officer and customer were chatting, he walked up and asked Crooker to leave, saying he...

Anita Moncrief has written a worthwhile personal account of her involvement with ACORN, and effectively lays out the entire strategy the Alinksy left, and its chosen instrument, Barack Obama, to "fundamentally change" America. Moncrief describes the moment in 2008, when she went from unwitting to witting, in terms of the strategy to make America into a people's socialist republic. As an ACORN insider my indoctrination as a socialist was a slow but steady progression from radical liberalism to embracing the stealth socialist methods that had made ACORN a powerful force in American electoral politics. Two years ago, in the mist...

I do not often reprint full articles written by others. But having been involved in exposing ACORN as the anti-Civil American rights, socialist organization it is for two years, I cannot let Anita MonCrief's expose of ACORN suffer anything less that as much exposure it can possibly get. Already Anita's latest work has been reprinted by HotAir.com, and examined by American Thinker's Thomas Lifson. Anita MonCrief according to her facebook page, is "a blogger and writer in Washington, DC. She attended the University of Alabama. She has worked with the American Bar Association Central European and Eurasian Law Initiative; the...

The few serious contributions by socialist writers towards understanding Jews and Jewish history are normally entitled The Jewish Question (Abram Leon's book) or The Jewish Problem (Isaac Deutcher's essay on 'The Russian Revolution and the Jewish Problem'). Also, reactionary writings on this subject have similar titles—for instance Marx's article and Sack's book on The Jewish Question. What is really at issue here is a non-Jewish problem. It is a non-Jewish problem every time a Jew on the Left comes out as Jewish and is immediately requested—with grave suspicion by the person making the request—to give their position on ... zionism....

The term "social justice" is now commonly used by leftist activists, clergy, educators, judges, and politicians to describe the goal they seek to achieve with many of their policies. No precise definition of "social justice" is ever offered by the left. Instead, the term is always used in a vague way -- as if everyone already knows, or should know, what the seemingly well-intentioned phrase "social justice" means. So, what exactly is "social justice"? Social justice is the complete economic equality of all members of society. While this may sound like a lofty objective, what it really means is that...

These "frail racist white people" better beware of La Raza "forefront of the revolution," at least so says Mexican racist and hatemonger Ron Gochez. Political protests are one thing, but when old-fashioned bullying techniques that prompt fear of safety are used, activists have crossed a line. There is a difference between respectful dissent and advocacy for one's civil rights and demanding public endorsement of what many still consider "unnatural sexual behavior" through hate language and fear tactics. One thing is for sure: The days of peaceful marches like those headed up by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. seem to be long gone. The truth is that the great majority of Prop 8 advocates are not bigots or hatemongers. They are American citizens who are...

Barack Obama's critics appropriately have spotlighted his ties to William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, the remorseless co-founders and leaders of the terrorist Weather Underground. Though not a jackpot, this represents Ayers' only recorded political contribution. The Illinois State Board of Elections' online database shows that Ayers donated to no other candidate. Barack Obama, who has consistently downplayed his relationship with William Ayers during his presidential campaign, once gave a glowing endorsement of a book by the former domestic terrorist and was mentioned by name in the book itself. Featured next to a smiling photograph of himself, then-State Senator Obama called Ayers' book, "A Kind and Just Parent: Children of the Juvenile Court," a "searing and timely account of the juvenile court system, and the courageous individuals who...

A green British jury has perverted an ancient legal right, using it to excuse eco-terrorism. Why Statists Always Get it Wrong by Per Bylund [Posted on Monday, February 20, 2006][Subscribe at email services and tell others] In a recent article, Carl Milsted uses Rothbard to argue it would be permissible to use force to make people pay for a service of which their benefit is at least double its cost. His conclusion is that it is reasonable, and even preferable, to establish a minimalist state if it is to people's advantage. As has already been argued by N. Stephan Kinsella, he totally misses Rothbard's point. Furthermore, he fails to show why people would not choose...

President Bush's State of the Union address made clear that his plans for his second term will focus on two projects: the Greater Middle East Initiative and Social Security overhaul. The response from the other side of the aisle suggests that Democrats plan to spend the next four years fighting back these two projects. What Democrats have not yet offered, however, is an alternative set of projects, which might then be claimed to be better or more worthy of the nation's energy and capital than Bush's. This is an emerging pattern not only in the Democratic party but in the...

One of my favorite quotations comes from Thomas Pynchon: "If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don´t have to worry about answers." Our world is in the mess it is in today because most of us have internalized the fine art of asking the wrong questions. Contrary to the thinking that would have us believe that the conflict, violence, tyranny, and destructiveness that permeates modern society is the result of "bad" or "hateful" people, disparities in wealth, or lack of education, all of our social problems are the direct consequence of a general failure to respect the...

Contrary to predictions I made earlier this year, all eleven states considering a constitutional amendment on gay marriage passed their bans, including Oregon, a state heavily targeted by gay activists. It appears I was wrong on the connection between the contraceptive mentality and the acceptance of homosexual behaviour. Or was I? You see, while Americans in general opposed same-sex marriage 61% to 34%, the 18-29 age bracket supported gay marriage or civil unions 56 to 40%.
