Andrew Lloyd Webber, known for his musical "The Phantom of the Opera," has opened up about his encounter with a “mischievous spirit” at his Eaton Square residence in London — and how he sought a priest's help to remove the entity. In an interview with The Telegraph, the award-winning composer revealed that while he has never seen a ghost, his former 19th century home in Eaton Square was occupied by a poltergeist that would “do things like take theatre scripts and put them in a neat pile in some obscure room.”“In the end we had to get a priest to come...

Andrew Lloyd Webber posted a picture of himself getting a vaccine shot on his Instagram page, saying that "I'll do anything to get theaters large and small open again and actors and musicians back to work." The English composer and the patron of many musicals offered, literally, his hand in the efforts to combat the coronavirus by participating in vaccine trials in the University of Oxford, according to NBC news. In the picture, the dedicated composer can be seen proudly displaying a black T-shirt on which it was written across in white letters #SaveOurStages. It seems that Webber is truly...

The new production stars Brandon Boyd as "Judas Iscariot," JC Chasez as "Pontius Pilate" and Michelle Williams as "Mary Magdalene." Ben Forster, a relative newcomer to the U.S., takes on the daunting role of "Jesus Christ." The musical offers a unique interpretation of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, with Judas Iscariot,...

Former Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer and Horry County Council Chairman Tim Rice will face each other in a runoff for the Republican nomination in South Carolina new 7th Congressional District. Bauer led a field of nine Republicans, getting about 32 percent of the vote in Tuesday's primary. Because he did not get a majority of the vote, he will face the second-place candidate, Rice, in a runoff June 26. Rice got about 27 percent of the vote, attorney Jay Jordan was third with about 22 percent.
  • ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER: The last thing this country needs is a pirate raid on the wealth creators

The opinion polls have uttered. The country loves the new 50 per cent top rate of income tax. Soak the rich. Smash the bankers. So Government spin doctors are in second heaven. The Conservatives' silence redefines a tomb. And I suppose there'd be quite a turnout for the public flogging of Sir Fred the Shred. But before you book your tickets, hold hard. And before you lynch me as a rich b*****d flying a kite for my own cause, let me beg you to believe that I am not. I believe that this new top rate of tax could be...

Together with Tim Rice, Lord Lloyd-Webber began his theatre career with two shows that drew on Christian tradition - Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Now theatreland's most successful composer, who is currently planning a new BBC talent search to find a Dorothy for a West End production of The Wizard of Oz, has spoken of his fears that political correctness is stifling creativity. In an interview looking back on his triumphs, Lord Lloyd-Webber said: "I'm lucky to have had such a successful career. I'm actually lucky enough to have always done as I want. "I...
  • Phantom of the Opera - The movie

I am curious if any Freepers have seen the Phantom in movie form. For those of us who are old enough, it seems impossible that anyone could match Crawford and Brightman and the London Symphony. Having read the play, I can only say that the opera surpasses it by far. And Webber, no matter what his politics are, is an extraordinary genius.
