A shot now reverberating around the evangelical world was fired by Atlanta megachurch pastor Andy Stanley in recent days. Preaching at North Point Community Church, in a sermon series known as “Christian,” Stanley preached a message titled “When Gracie Met Truthy” on April 15, 2012. With reference to John 1:14, Stanley described the challenge of affirming grace and truth in full measure. He spoke of grace and truth as a tension, warning that “if you resolve it, you give up something important.” The message was insightful and winsome, and Andy Stanley is a master communicator. Early in the message he...

Editor’s note: this opinion piece would usually appear on the blog. We have decided to feature it on our story side. Is this what fundamental transformation looks like? In an op-ed on the Huffington Post, former SEIU president Andy Stern decided to get all “Founding Fathers” with his audience. He went back, way back, to the time of male, powdered wigs and the Federalist Papers. His thesis: you know those checks and balances the old guys put in place? Yeah, they’re just kind of getting in the way of change. “American democracy has layers of power and responsibility, which James...

Choudary: Refuses to discuss his dissolute youth At 39, Anjem Choudary should be a symbol of success for his peers. Born into the working-class family of a market trader in Welling on the outskirts of London, he has risen - thanks to the opportunities offered by the British education system - to become a qualified lawyer. But it is unlikely his old school will be inviting him to be guest speaker on prize-giving day. Their former pupil is not famous for his elegant oratory in court. Instead, the articulate Mr Choudary preaches hatred and murder in the streets of Britain...

Old People Turn on Obama Sellout Andy Griffith The government recently enlisted aged actor Andy Griffith for a commercial showcasing Medicare benefits available through health care reform. North's Carolina's old people, at least, didn't appreciate these lies, and Griffith's favorability rating has dropped 25 percentage points there.

Purple may be the official color of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), but Andy Stern is leaving the union deep in the red. Last week, he surprised the labor community by announcing his resignation as president of SEIU. Mr. Stern has claimed victories in helping pass health care legislation and getting President Obama elected, but his impact within his own organization shows gaping budget deficits and massive underfunding of pensions.

President Obama has always made a pretty big deal about not working with “lobbyists”. Registered lobbyists can’t get stimulus money, can’t be White House advisors and are not allowed access to meetings and summits. So how does one get around that? It’s simple; you just don’t register as a lobbyist. That’s what Andy Stern did and it may come back to bite him.

When Internet Powerhouse Andy Martin wrote his first column on Barack Obama’s family history and birth certificate, Andy had no idea he was creating an “industry” that would pursue Obama’s records to the ends of the earth. Although Obama’s mouthpiece Robert Gibbs says the BC has been released (Gibbs lies) and Fox News’ Shepard Smith has insulted people who question Obama’s missing records, Andy’s Army continues to battle Obama & Company to find the facts and tell the truth about Obama’s hidden “roots.” (Includes article by Andy Martin.... read on)

The 80-year-old actor had hip surgery on September 5 and has been in hospital in Los Angeles ever since, where he's being monitored for heart problems, according to reports that have not been confirmed by his publicist. Griffith is a high-risk patient because he has suffered from heart problems and underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery in 2000. NEW YORK -- A young man who told his family that he was distraught over the result of the presidential election was found dead Saturday, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, inside the gated pit where the World Trade Center once stood, authorities said. He was identified as Andrew Veal, 25, of Athens, Ga. Veal had worked for the University of Georgia's Survey Research Center, where the center's director, James Bason, said: "He was a great worker. And he got along well with everyone. Again, we are all at a loss at to why something like this would happen."

Friends: Here's a link for Andy Garcia's new film "The Lost City". It's a movie about the Cuban revolution, without Hollywood's typical pro-Castro slant. Andy wants us to send it out to all of our friends to spread the word of the film's upcoming limited release. As many of you know, he had a lot of difficulty getting Hollywood to take it on. This film is very a very important piece telling "our story" for the first time. If you can forward this poster and release information out to your friends, your support will be greatly appreciated. SAN DIEGO – For the first time in a while, voting in San Diego seemed to go smoothly. During Tuesday's balloting, there was no question of whether people remembered to fill in a bubble when writing in a name. There were no computer glitches to frustrate workers. The troubleshooters whom the San Diego County Registrar of Voters had standing by didn't have much to do."We have a whole troubleshooting hotline where people are sitting very quiet," said Registrar Mikel Haas, about a hour before voting concluded.Even a power outage in Mira Mesa didn't stop the vote scanners, which have back-up batteries....

For those watching the DUmmie "William Pitt" this past week was surely a wondrous one, full of explosive fireworks, on the heels of several weeks of utter silence on this subject from the DUmmie "William Pitt." It appears the DUmmie "William Pitt" finally read what had been said about him.....about four weeks too late. The guy is hurt, angry, insulted, and it showed. This is reminescent of a similar event about nine weeks ago, when the acolytes of Andrew Stephenson finally discovered the DUmmie FUnnies, and were alas for them three weeks too late. One suspects that during his weeks...

Henry Hyde (R-IL), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee during the Clinton impeachment hearings, was interviewed by ABC News political reporter Andy Shaw. The ABC headline is entitled, "Clinton Impeachment was Retaliation for Nixon, Says Retiring Congressman." This is completely bogus. When listening to the clip, I noticed a couple things. First, Andy Shaw said that the impeachment of Clinton embarrassed Henry Hyde because it brought attention to his "hypocrisy" many years earlier when he participated in an extramarital affair. (Unsurprisingly, Shaw did not mention anything about obstruction of justice.) Second, Shaw commented on Hyde's retirement, saying that some people...

NEW YORK (CBS) In Montgomery, Ala., recently, a judge refused to remove a 5,000-pound stone bearing the Ten Commandments from his courthouse. Finally, after a higher court order, the stone was removed - and so was the judge.Three years ago, there was a similar incident outside a high school in Adams County, Ohio. The issue then was a plaque with the Ten Commandments on it.Like the stone in the Alabama courthouse, the plaque was finally removed over the objection of a lot of people who are both Christian and patriotic.Religion and patriotism have a lot of the same characteristics. My...
