FULL TITLE: Moving on and out: Anthony Weiner and pregnant wife Huma finally sell Queens apartment as they prepare for first child As the Weiners try to put the year's events behind them, it was only natural their marital home - Anthony Weiner's former sexting headquarters - should be one of the first to go. Thankfully for the couple, after putting their Queen's two-bedroom apartment back on the market - after quietly taking it off during the scandal - they have finally found a buyer. Their 875-square-foot home on Ascan Avenue was listed at $449,000 in June.

HOUSTON - From the exterior of Kennedy Place, it looks like any other upscale apartment complex. Inside you'll find faux granite top counters, a matching refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and an alarm system. Move over to the amenities room and there are flat screens in the lounge area, computer and workout rooms. The only thing different about this apartment complex: it’s public housing . Sheila Johnson has lived at Kennedy Place for that last seven years. She remembers when it used to be a 30-year-old building with lots of crime. But after $11 million in renovations, there are three-story units with...

Reno police say a squid left cooking in microwave is the suspected culprit of noxious fumes that left two apartment dwellers queasy. Authorities don't know if the squid was put in the microwave as a prank or act of cruelty when they found it Sunday night. But they believe the squishy cephalopod was stuck in the microwave by burglars and left to cook in a communal kitchen. Two residents made ill by the fumes were treated at a hospital. Police were still investigating Monday.

It looks like Rush Limbaugh is moving ahead with his threat to leave New York City. He's (finally!) put his tacky Fifth Avenue apartment up for sale. The cost of ridding NYC of Rush once and for all? $13.95 million. Limbaugh promised that he'd sell his Manhattan apartment last March after the Paterson administration proposed raising taxes on New York residents who make more than $500,000 a year. (That wasn't the first time he'd made the threat. On the eve of the 2008 presidential election, Limbaugh said he was "seriously considering selling it," since "it may now become stupid to...

When her husband left for war, newlywed Nicole Buonanno hung a time-honored tribute in his honor — a flag with a blue star, a symbol since World War I that a loved one in the military is in harm's way. Now the young bride is in trouble with her Tucson landlord, who wants the tribute taken down from the balcony of the couple's east-side apartment. On Wednesday, Buonanno received written notice from the management of Finisterra Luxury Rentals that she had 24 hours to remove the offending banner. She put it up on Jan. 4 — the day her husband,...

CHIBA — Police on Friday arrested a truck driver Friday on suspicion of property damage after he allegedly urinated on a towel at the entrance of the apartment belonging to a woman he liked. Police said that 22-year-old Yuuki Oshima, a resident of Noda Cioty, visited the woman’s apartment after midnight on Nov 19 and urinated through the mail slot in the door onto a towel that was hung inside to keep people from peeping into the apartment. Police said Oshima admits to the charges, and quoted him as saying, “I absolutely went crazy for her the first time I...

Was that headline mean? I'm sorry, but the silliness of this story, which centers around one couple's quest to annoy/sue the hell out of their entire apartment building, warranted it. The ridiculous story unfolds like this:On Saturdays, Dr. Dena Coleman and her husband Gordon claim they are imprisoned in their condo because the landlord went and installed a motion-sensing security light to save energy and money. As Orthodox Jews, they say triggering the light violates a Sabbath rule, so they sued. Which rule? The Promethean one: [The couple] claim they cannot leave their holiday flat on the Sabbath because...

Manhattan apartment sales plunged more than 50 percent and the average price dropped 21.4 to 24 percent from a year ago, as the U.S. recession forced many who own a piece of the Big Apple to eat humble pie, several reports said. The average price of Manhattan apartment in the second quarter slid to $1,312,920 down from $1,669,729 a year earlier, according to a Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate report released Thursday. Most of the year-over-year decline occurred in the fall, when the credit crisis brought the market to an abrupt halt, said Jonathan Miller, president and chief executive of...

NEW YORK (AFP) – Disgraced Wall Street investment baron Bernard Madoff was placed Friday under 24-hour house arrest in a toughening of his bail conditions. LOS ANGELES -- The City Council in Calabasas plans to discuss a proposal Wednesday on whether to extend its anti-smoking law to some homes. Council members may consider a law that would prohibit renters from lighting up inside apartments. Current resident smokers would be exempted from the ban as long as they stayed in the same apartment. The law would require all new buildings with at least 15 units to be smoke-free; the law would cover condominiums, as well as apartment buildings.

One day my landlord told me he was going to evict the woman across the hall from me because she hadn't paid rent in months. Let's just call this woman Wanda. He finally got Wanda to leave and the day we walked into this place, we found an abomination. This apartment was not just messy, it was a downright health hazard. Not only was I shocked at what I saw, I was amazed that I could still be shocked! I thought I had seen it all. When I was a kid, my mother taught me this rhyme (as yours probably...

Zhao Ziyang, former Secretary-General of mainland China’s Communist Party, died at a Beijing hospital last Monday. Good riddance to another communist? In this case, no. Not all tigers are incapable of changing their stripes. During his tenure in China’s one and only political party, Zhao took steps that truly can be called “reforms.” Zhao's greatest moment occurred during the pro-democracy rebellion of 1989, which was centered in and around Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. He opposed the use of China’s vast military might against the peaceful protestors gathered in the square. On May 19, 1989, Zhao personally pleaded with the protestors, mostly...

Despite the Chinese government’s horrific oppression of its people, dissent persists. Today, six women held a protest on an apartment building rooftop in Beijing. “The Chechnya Anomaly” A Study of the Viewpoints of the Chechnya Anomaly and the Russian Hand Compiled By: Ryan Mauro tdcanalyst@optimum.net The warfare in Chechnya has many different faces on it and very different sides to it. For some, it is a war of liberation against an aggressive Russia. For others, it is Russia’s own War on Terrorism. Yet, for the rest, it is both. Chechnya and the neighboring Pankisi Gorge area of Georgia are probably safe-points for terrorists. Chechnya is a scene for international terror, and Russia’s offensive into the area has created a battlefield to which radical Muslims...

A retired physics professor has been ordered by the courts to jettison half of the belongings that are jamming his tiny Brooklyn flat or face being thrown onto the streets. It is a blow for Fei Xu, 71, who seems puzzled by the furore that has been stirred up since his landlord went to a Housing Court to complain about the clutter. Never mind that the place looks like a flea market. Gail Cromer, a lawyer for the landlord, is barely sympathetic. "Every nook and cranny was stuffed. There was only a 14-inch-wide walk through the apartment. There were...
