EXCERPT: Donald Trump’s ratings-challenged Apprentice TV show has already been cancelled and brought back from the dead once. His real estate empire may not be so lucky. The partnership behind the Trump Ocean Resort Baja, a luxury hotel-condo project in Mexico, has gone belly up, costing scores of small investors more than $32 million. Investors have been told they won’t get a penny back. The Mexican problems couldn’t come at a worse time for Trump. ...

Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle told Meet the Press host Tim Russert that being First Lady doesn’t exactly constitute an apprenticeship for the Presidency. Daschle wanted to boost Barack Obama over a suddenly resurgent Hillary Clinton, and he attacked her experience argument. Daschle pointed out that Obama has more time in elective office than Hillary, but he somehow managed to avoid noting that John McCain has more than the both of them put together: Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) on Sunday questioned Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (N.Y.) pitching of herself as the most experienced candidate in the...

In addition, we're keeping up with Trump's Apprentice LA and this week we discuss the firing of the male half of an Apprentice team once involved in a budding romance.

August 31, 2006 -- CAROLYN KEPCHER, Donald Trump's co-star on "The Apprentice," has heard him say "You're fired!" for the last time - because this time he said it to her, sources told The Post. The icy, 36-year-old blonde - who was running the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff in Westchester and helping supervise the Trump National in Bedminster, N.J. - was let go earlier this week. "She became a prima donna," said one insider. "Being on 'The Apprentice' went to her head. She was no longer focused on business. She was giving speeches for $25,000 and doing endorsements."...

One 'Apprentice' Is Running for Office; Could There Be Another? By: Robert B. BlueyPosted 03/09/0602:20 PM Raj Bhakta, who was “fired” by Donald Trump on the second season of “The Apprentice,” will run on the Republican ticket this November against Democratic Rep. Allyson Schwartz in the suburban Philadelphia district, reports the Associated Press. “We offer voters legitimate change,” Bhakta told the AP. “I am not a politician. I am someone from a business background who wants to make a change.” Who knew Trump would breed an aspiring Republican lawmaker? The truth is, however, Bhakta isn’t the only cast member from...

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Raj Bhakta, the aspiring "Apprentice" turned aspiring politician, is running for Congress. Bhakta, who was fired by Donald Trump during the second season of the NBC reality show "The Apprentice," is challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz for the state's 13th District seat representing suburban Philadelphia. Bhakta received the county GOP's endorsement days before making his announcement Monday. "We offer voters legitimate change," Bhakta said. "I am not a politician. I am someone from a business background who wants to make a change." If elected in November, Bhakta said he would serve a maximum of three terms...

WASHINGTON, Feb. 16, 2006 – Kelly Perdew was hired as Donald Trump's "Apprentice" in 2004, and he believes his training at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point helped him win the reality TV competition. HABBANIYAH, Iraq, Dec. 29, 2005 – While western Iraq's Anbar province was making headlines with its voter turnout this month, a quieter turnout of its young men was making headway graduating from school. In Habbaniyah, a volatile city where rockets and mortars destroy buildings and lives all too suddenly and frequently, the Iraq Construction Apprentice Program is facilitating Iraqi rebuilding efforts, one brick and one life at a time. The apprentice course began in September at the military base here, an old British base that the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence contracted ECC International to renovate so the Iraqi...

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - "The Apprentice" winner Bill Rancic, entrusted by the reality TV show's creator, Donald Trump, to develop a skyscraper, says he'll stop working for him next year and start his own business. Rancic, who won the first season of the U.S. NBC network's "The Apprentice" in April last year, said his contract with Trump, the American real estate mogul, to oversee construction of the 90-story Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago will end in March. "That will probably be it for me," Rancic said late Wednesday during a global leadership forum in Malaysia. "I'm going to...

HONG KONG — China will soon have its own version of the extremely capitalist reality TV show "The Apprentice," according to a news report. Donald Trump will be the executive producer of the Chinese show, which will be hosted by a Beijing property mogul, the South China Morning Post newspaper reported Sunday. The report said the version in the communist country would closely follow the U.S. original, in which contestants use their business savvy to compete against each other, and the winner gets a job with Trump. No release date was given, and the paper said the details of the...

Will 'The Apprentice' Be a Black and White Issue? Business mogul Donald Trump says 'he wasn't particularly happy' with the most recent season of his hit reality show, (featuring 'book smarts' vs. street smarts') and is considering controversial changes bound to generate buzz for upcoming episodes.Among the proposals: piting a team of African-American contestants against a team of all white players.'Whether people like that or not, it would be somewhat reflective of our world,' according to Trump. 'But needless to say, not everyone thinks it is a good idea.'Trump wasn't available for further comment, but a representative told the Scoop...

OK, OK, I'm not a big telly watcher, certainly not of ''reality'' programmes, and I've only seen ''The Apprentice'' a couple of times, but is this master chef a thoroughgoing asshole AND a poor businessman to boot? Given a brand new staff, some of whom are known to be amateurs in the kitchen, just 90 minutes to become harmonised with the restaurant procedures and the menu? I'm just a jackleg cook, no intent of becoming a professional line chef, and I would have told this master chef genius to bugger off in 90 seconds' time, perhaps less. Views, opinions, thoughts...

TAMPA, Fla. - Real estate millionaire Chris Shelton, a contestant on NBC's "The Apprentice," was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge. Shelton, 22, one of six remaining contestants competing for a job with Donald Trump, was taken into custody early Sunday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. He was released after posting $250 bail. A tribal police officer said he heard a noisy Shelton in the hotel lobby and asked him twice to calm down before arresting him, said Seminole police spokesman Gary Bitner. "He was loud and he just wouldn't calm down," Bitner said. Shelton was peeved...

Domestic Hypocrisy: Martha Stewart’s “Apprentice” Lie March 16, 2005 By Debbie Schlussel Amidst the Second Coming of Martha Stewart, the Domestic Diva told another big lie. But not a single member of the pandering media has taken note. Remember the empathetic Martha’s exhortations from prison about poor treatment of convicts when they’re released from prison? Stewart decried the lack of employment for convicts. No-one will hire them, she complained. No-one, including Martha. Even before she was released from Camp Cupcake in Alderson, West Virginia, Stewart’s production partner, reality TV king Mark Burnett, was holding auditions for Martha’s version of “The...

Disabled Attorney Says 'Apprentice' Biased The Associated Press By JIM SUHR Feb. 9, 2005 | ST. LOUIS | (AP) - A quadriplegic lawyer has sued producers of NBC's "The Apprentice," saying the tryouts for the popular reality show discriminate by requiring that would-be contestants be in excellent physical health. In his federal lawsuit filed here last week, James Schottel Jr. wants a preliminary injunction that would force the show's producers to drop such requirements that exclude him and "others similarly situated" from being considered for the show. The St. Louis attorney, who has applied to try out for the show...

Donald Trump chose conservative entrepreneur Kelly over liberal attorney Jenn in last night's season final episode of The Apprentice... Kelly was the choice of almost every business expert on hand, as person after person praised him for his leadership, drive, and most of all for his results. The sharp tongued Jenn almost pulled the rabbit out of the hat as she attempted to argue her way to the job in the final boardroom exchange. As an attorney she seemed more adept at arguing her case... but in the end couldn't overcome the results that Kelly had shown.

December 8, 2004 -- Donald Trump knows the "Art of the Deal" - and he is proving it by getting this $1.5 million wedding ring for free. He will present it to Melania Knauss at their upcoming nuptials. The Donald has arranged a deal with the tony Graff diamond sellers, in which the company will provide a 13-carat masterpiece ring in return for the November appearance of the jeweler's products on "The Apprentice," a source close to Trump said yesterday. In addition, Trump's sexy model fiance has agreed to pose in ads for the tony, high-end gem seller as part...

There are a lot of important life lessons that can be learned from NBC's 'The Apprentice.'Things like 'passion and desire are key components to sucess' and 'you should never underestimate a competitor' and 'if youre a woman, you can get pretty much get anything you want by acting like a complete whore.' One thing you cannot get by acting like a whore, though, is respect, and Ivana Ma, a 28 year old 'venture capitalist' from Boston found that out the hard way on last night's episode.Dont get me wrong, I was as happy as the next guy to see Jennifer...

Background: In 1931 the Davis-Bacon Act was adopted to create a "prevailing wage," usually the union rate, for any construction contract over $2,000 funded in whole or in part by the federal government. The benefits of the "prevailing wage," however, go to a very few at the expense of taxpayers and the Act is a prime example of unfunded mandates and government waste. Davis-Bacon inflates the cost of federally funded construction projects by as much as 15%, discourages economic growth, and raises federal spending. In fact, Davis-Bacon Act wages cost taxpayers over $1 billion annually, in addition to the $100...

Pamela Day may represent a first for ``Apprentice'' contestants who have been pink-slipped. She's grateful she was fired by Donald Trump. ``I think it was the greatest thing to ever happen,'' she said. ``Because people who were watching the show and saw what I'm all about were so outraged. So I've become this very memorable character, and it's become like me vs. this pack of wild women, and I'm the one woman that America identifies with, and they hate the other ones.'' (For the record, she doesn't - they're all ``good friends'' now). The New Jersey native, who was an...

ALBANY, N.Y. -- "Apprentice" contestant Jennifer Crisafulli was told "you're fired" by Donald Trump this week. Now she reportedly has lost her real job as well. An official with the Manhattan firm where Crisafulli was a real estate agent told the Times-Union of Albany that she would not be welcomed back because of comments she made on Wednesday night's episode of "The Apprentice." Crisafulli -- an Albany native living in Manhattan -- made remarks that were perceived by some as anti-Semitic. She has said she did not mean to offend.

When Donald Trump fired loose-cannon Stacie J on last week's episode of "The Apprentice," he may have violated a federal law that forbids employers from getting rid of employees just because they're "crazy." That's what an employment-discrimination lawyer claimed yesterday — though it is hard to figure out just how serious he is about the charge. Morris Fischer, a Baltimore lawyer who specializes in employee discrimination cases, argues that even though "The Apprentice" is just a TV show, the prize is a real job and therefore the American Disabilities Act should apply....

A confident Bradford on ‘The Apprentice’ relinquished his immunity in the boardroom. The move got him fired. ...[snip] But did The Donald make the right call? “Bradford made an impulsive decision,” Trump explained on “The Apprentice.” “A stupid, impulsive, life-threatening decision that, frankly, if you were running a company and made that kind of a decision, you’d destroy that company instantaneously,” Trump said. “Bradford, you’re fired.” ... Would you have fired him?

In my humble outpost here in the hinterlands of Maine, listening to Imus this morning, "The Don", Donald Trump said; "The war in Iraq is worse than Vietnam." This comment came right after complaining about not being able to buy concrete because a lot is going to Iraq to rebuild thier country. Trump maybe a good businessman, but when it comes to the world outside of his financial empire, he's just an apprentice. Vietnam = 58,177 KIA Iraq = 1,003 KIA And if you cannot make a distinction between the importance of our presence in Iraq and the war on...

A JUDGE in the Miss Universe pageant selected because of his role in Donald Trump's US television reality show The Apprentice has been sacked from the competition panel. Kwame Jackson, a contestant for the reality show's April 15 final prize - a year-long, US$250,000 ($350,000) job with the billionaire developer - was disqualified by pageant organizers for waving at beauty queens he bumped into in their hotel lobby. "Kwame is intelligent, charming and we were really looking forward to him judging on our panel," pageant president Paula Shugart said in a statement. "But his interaction with the delegates, albeit unintentional,...

The NBC project would document Rancic's year working for Donald Trump, overseeing the construction of a 90-story Trump International Hotel and Tower on the site of the Chicago Sun-Times building (where Rancic may soon move into his very own office alongside the Trump Tower sales force and residential unit model). Burnett also hinted that former contestants from "The Apprentice" might be hired as Rancic's employees, and that Trump would be demanding regular progress reports.

According to Extra!, Mark Cuban, the billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks NBA team, made a "huge job offer" to Kwame after Bill Rancic was hired by Trump instead of Kwame. Kwame told Extra! that Cuban had waited for hours at The Apprentice after-show cast party before finally cornering Kwame so that he could make the offer. Cuban is an honest American success story. Born middle-class in Pittsburgh, Cuban went to Indiana University, where he honed his sales skills. After graduation, he started a computer consulting company -- although he knew nothing about computers. However, by a combination of his...

Former Gore staffer and fired candidate on the Donald Trump NBC reality show 'The Apprentice' Omarosa Maginault Stallworth is contemplating a run for Congress .However, she inflated her salary and her position with Vice President Gore in applying for another government job. If you are hooked on NBC's "The Apprentice," chances are you hold some pretty strong opinions about Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, the black woman who was recently fired on the reality TV show. To say that Omarosa, a stunningly attractive woman, rubbed some of her colleagues on the show the wrong way is to put it mildly. Still, early in Omarosa's 15 minutes of fame, I was rooting for her to win it all. After watching Omarosa calmly deflect her opponents' criticism in the boardroom -- leaving them speechless -- I was convinced she had the skills to become the strongest leader....

CHICAGO -- Some prefer their coffee with a dash of cream and sugar and others just want it black. As for those intense coffee drinkers, preferences for coffee have become a little more difficult. Just ask Rhonda Cain, owner of Color Me Coffee espresso bar located at the trendy Navy Pier in Chicago. Her favorite coffee? Sumatra Mandheling, an Indonesian bean. As hundreds of delegates, members of the media, and convention-goers discovered in August at the Democratic National Convention, Cain's passion for coffee goes beyond mere caffeine craving. "I selected the name 'Color Me Coffee' because I feel that it...
