Pro football star J.J. Watt is once again aiding the Houston area in a time of tragedy, as the community deals with Friday’s horrific school shooting that left at least 10 dead and 10 more injured in Santa Fe, Texas. The Houston Texans defensive end – who raised millions of dollars for relief efforts following Hurricane Harvey last year – reportedly said he will pay for the funerals of those who were killed Friday morning at Santa Fe High School when 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis allegedly opened fire on his classmates, FOX 26 reported. School officials have been notified of Watt’s...

Sidney Bouvier Gilstrap-Portley allegedly posed as a 17-year-old Hurricane Harvey refugee so he could play boys' basketball at Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Texas. On Tuesday, the Dallas Morning News reported the 25-year-old, who also spent time at Skyline High School, was arrested Friday on a charge of tampering with government records. The mother of a 14-year-old female student told the paper he dated her daughter while at Hillcrest High. Gilstrap-Portley, who officials say was operating under the alias Rashun Richardson, was named the District 11-5A Offensive Player of the Year during the 2017-18 season.
  • John McEnroe: Donald Trump offered me $1 million to play Serena or Venus Williams in Singles Tennis

Yahoo News ^ | Liz Roscher,
How much would you pay to put on a modern-day Battle of the Sexes tennis match? According to tennis great John McEnroe, Donald Trump was willing to pay $1 million. On Wednesday, McEnroe was interviewed on “In Depth with Graham Bensinger,” and revealed that 20 years ago, the not-yet-president offered him a decent chunk of change to play either Serena Williams or Venus Williams. According to McEnroe, he got an envelope while he was calling a match in 1998. It was from Donald Trump, who McEnroe was definitely aware of at the time — he called Trump a “promoter galore.”...

But by the standards of the Trump era — where style and identity overshadow ideology and policy, and where the lengths you go to to present yourself as a Trump loyalist often matter more than your voting record — there are sharp differences between Anthony Gonzalez and Christina Hagan. Gonzalez, 33, was a star wide receiver at Ohio State and a first-round draft pick in the NFL, where he caught passes from Peyton Manning. He later earned an MBA from Stanford and worked as a top executive with an education technology company in Silicon Valley. His first television ad? Packed...

This is a story about love and betrayal. Andrea Barone was barely 18 months old when he first set out on the ice, his tiny legs shaking and pushing behind a chair along the cold surface. If, in Montreal, hockey is religion, then this was baptism by ritual, every morning practice, every unsteady drag of his skates drawing him closer to the game he was falling for. .... Barone is sure of two things about himself: He is a hockey man, and he is a gay man. In the sport he has devoted his life to, this has proved an...

Eagles cornerback Daryl Worley was arrested in South Philadelphia on Sunday morning. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Worley "became combative" with officers and was tasered at the corner of Broad and Pattison, right next to the NovaCare Complex, at 6 a.m. Worley was reportedly found passed out in a vehicle and 911 was called. A gun was also reportedly taken from the scene. The Eagles confirmed Worley's arrest in a statement: "We are in the process of gathering more information about Daryl Worley's arrest this morning." Worley, 23, came to town as the return from Carolina in the Torrey...

Six people were detained Sunday for allegedly plotting an attack on the Berlin Half Marathon. Local police said the men supposedly planned to brandish knives in crowds and slash spectators and participants around them, according to The Washington Post. “There were isolated indications that those arrested, aged between 18 and 21 years, were participating in the preparation of a crime in connection with this event,” prosecutors and police wrote in a joint statement.Police reportedly tracked the main suspect and his co-conspirators for weeks when they discovered a plot to attack civilians at the event. Once suspicions were confirmed, the residences...

If Tim Tebow wants to make a return to football, it looks like he's finally got an offer on the table. The former Florida Gators quarterback would even get to potentially play in the state of Florida. Tebow's football offer comes from Steve Spurrier, who was officially named as the coach of the Orlando franchise in the Alliance of American Football on Saturday. Spurrier doesn't have any players yet, but it sounds like he would be very interested in adding Tebow. "That would be wonderful," Spurrier said on the Open Mike radio show Monday, via the Orlando Sentinel. "I think...

Patrick Reed had two putts for par, two putts on the 18th green, two putts to win the Masters. He was sitting at 15-under, he had held Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth and everyone else off for going on three days. He was 24 feet away with an opportunity to lag it, then tap it, then slip on a green jacket. The throng around the 18th here at Augusta National sat politely but when his first putt slipped by the hole leaving him a slightly tricky 4-footer, they began a murmur that built into a consensus, not of dread that he...

A biological male weightlifter competing as a woman in the Commonwealth Games lost the gold medal after trying to lift far more weight than was needed for victory. Laurel Hubbard, formerly known as Gavin Hubbard before “transitioning” into a female identity five years ago, was expected to easily defeat Australian weightlifter Deb Lovely-Acason in the finals of women’s 90kg-plus weightlifting Monday. Competing for the New Zealand team, Hubbard suffered a “horror elbow injury” when attempting to set a personal and Commonwealth record by lifting 132 kg (291 lbs). Hubbard was already far ahead of the nearest adversary, Feagaiga Stowers of...

TMZ Sports has learned ... Woods and Smith (who dated from 2015 to 2017) are currently in arbitration -- and sources familiar with the situation tell us it's all over a non-disclosure agreement. In every way, Rusty Staub, the beloved Mets' hitting icon, who passed away early Thursday morning at age 73, was bigger than life — a bigger-than-life baseball personality, humanitarian, gourmet chef, wine connoisseur, friend-to-all and, to the fans of Montreal, quite simply, "Le Grand Orange." snip Staub died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Palm Beach, Florida, due to multiple organ failure. He was initially admitted with pneumonia, dehydration and an infection and had spent the last eight weeks in the hospital. He would have turned 74 on Sunday.

To get a feel for the level of craziness of today's world, take a look at sports – women's sports in particular. It is on the cusp of being turned upside-down because of the rise and societal acceptance of the phenomenon known as "transgenderism." "Transitioning from male to female" does not make a man into a woman. In spite of any cosmetic surgery, hormone treatments, affected mannerisms, and so on, the cellular DNA of the body does not change. A man is still a man. As this relates to women athletics, it doesn't take a detective of Nero Wolfe's caliber...

Adam Rippon is back in the news, this time from rumors that he is producing a reality show with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. The news is likely to ruffle some feathers, as Rippon has become a polarizing figure — perhaps unfairly. Rippon, 28, is a 2018 Winter Olympics athlete and medalist. He received significant attention for being one of the first openly gay athletes to represent Team USA at a Winter Olympics and the first openly gay male athlete to win a medal in a Winter Olympics. But throughout the Olympics, it seemed as though Rippon made headlines just...

Prodded on by the approving ESPN SportsCenter host Cari Champion, LeBron James delivered his latest installment of attacks on President Trump today. The professional basketball star who tweeted the unprofessional message "u bum" to the president last year, uses his Uninterrupted internet forum to blast Trump as someone who "really don't give a f--- about the people." Zachary Ripple, online sports editor for The New York Daily News, gave James more mileage by posting the video on his site along with a short story. This episode of Uninterrupted, titled "Rolling with the Champion: LeBron James and Kevin Durant," features Champion...

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Missing since Friday, former Dallas Cowboys running back Lincoln Coleman was found safe on Tuesday morning, according to Dallas Police. Investigators were worried about his diminished mental capacity and his need for medical help. He said Coleman could not figure out where he left his car or how to get home. Randolph said on Tuesday at about 4 a.m., Coleman returned home but was confused about what happened. “We were worried about him freezing....
