European leaders are at a crossroads: They must pull closer together or risk the euro currency project falling apart.

BERLIN — For decades, Germany’s role in Europe has been to supply the cash, not the leadership. With fresh memories of war, the continent was cautious about German domination — and so were the Germans themselves.

A TINY stallion just 35cm high is thought to be a record breaker as the world's smallest foal. Einstein, a pinto stallion, weighed in at just 2.7kg when he was born last week in the US. Breeder Judy Smith, of Tiz A Miniature Horse Farm, in Barnstead, New Hampshire, told Sky News she thought he was dead when she first saw him. "I have been at this for 20 years plus, but I have never seen one this tiny or even close to it. "At first he didn't move very much. We started rubbing him with a towel and he...

Al-Qurani said he has been subjected to ill-treatment almost every day An inmate in the US prison facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, has told Al Jazeera that he has been beaten while in custody and had tear gas used on him after refusing to leave his cell. "Since Obama took charge he has not shown us that anything will change," he said....

Frist's Cat Problem Tennessean columnist Gail Kerr notes that Sen. Bill Frist (R-TN) "fessed up in his 1989 book, Transplant, to adopting cats from shelters when he was in medical school, treating them like pets for a while, and then using them in his research experiments." The subject also came up in the 1994 Senate GOP primary. "It was a short-lived local story that briefly flared in the national press. Yes, what Frist did was odd and rather icky, but he also saved a lot of lives as a heart surgeon. The kitty killer charges were widely dismissed, and Frist...

Sorry for the vanity, but this is information I thought Freepers would like to hear about. Apparently due to unresolved contractual disputes, the Los Angeles and Chicago affiliates of leftist Air America Radio have pulled the programming from their airwaves and returned to local programming. I'm hearing this second hand, so if anyone has verifiable information or clarifications, please post them.
