EVEN BY TRIAL LAWYER STANDARDS, EDWARDS A REAL SLEAZEBAGAugust 13, 2008 The good news: DNA testing has confirmed that John Edwards is not the father of Rielle Hunter's baby. The bad news: The father is Bill Clinton. Ha ha -- just kidding! It's almost impossible to get pregnant by having the type of sex Bill Clinton prefers. Also, by now, everyone has heard the news that Edwards' mistress, Rielle Hunter, has refused to grant a paternity test. I wonder if Edwards knew that when he was making his chesty offer to take a paternity test? Edwards gushed to ABC's Bob...

Hooray! The National Enquirer has published photos of former political person John Edwards with a baby. The baby is almost certainly made up in part of DNA he left in a woman named Rielle Hunter, a former Edwards staffer who now spends her time cashing checks and hiding in hotels and denying everything to the media (until Good Morning America finally books her!). So now would be a perfect time for, like, established print media to cover this story, right? Anyone? Ha, no, they are all too embarrassed. Once again, it's up to the internet! The story is still sneaking...

ONLY HIS HAIR DRESSER KNOWS FOR SURE!August 6, 2008 The mainstream media's reaction to the National Enquirer's reports on John Edwards' "love child" scandal has been reminiscent of the Soviet press. Edwards' name has simply been completely whitewashed out of the news. Say, why isn't anyone talking about John Edwards for vice president anymore? No, seriously –- hey! Why are we going to a commercial break? I suspect that if I tried to look up coverage of the Democratic primaries in Nexis news archives, Edwards' name will have disappeared from the debates. By next week, Edwards won't have been John...

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Beverly Hills police are treating a late night confrontation between tabloid photographers and man identified as former U.S. Sen. John Edwards as a "civil dispute" and leaving his name out of official reports. Photographers from the National Enquirer say they chased Edwards as he was leaving the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel after 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22. The Enquirer reported Edwards was visiting a mistress with whom he had a child this year. Edwards has dismissed the stories as "lies" and "tabloid trash" but avoided reporters with questions about them. Enquirer photographers Alexander Hitchen of...

I think Mickey Kaus is correct about this. Under normal circumstances, John Edwards would have a prominent role in the Democratic convention in Denver — remember the adoring, break-into-the-news coverage of Edwards' decision to endorse Obama? But these are not normal circumstances for Edwards. I think most people in the media believe the National Enquirer story about him is accurate, even as they have adopted a this-is-not-happening editorial policy. But the policy would be harder to maintain were Edwards to take a high-profile role at the convention. It is impossible to imagine that the Obama campaign would want Edwards to...

I believe that in the US, laws against polygamy have become unenforceable while no one was looking. Consider the following: 1) Polygamists, for the most part, are not legally married (they do not have multiple marriage licenses obtained by fraud). Therefore, they are simply cohabiting, in some states illegally. 2) Even states where cohabitation is still illegal, such laws are never enforced. 3) Clearly, there are men in these communities who father babies with multiple women. Just as there are in Detroit, Baltimore, Houston, and Los Angeles. This is not a crime per se. 4) So, what is different about...

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - A teenage boy is accused of fatally shooting his mother and her two little girls, one of whom was the 4-year-old daughter of rap star Juvenile. Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr., 17, was charged Friday with murder in the deaths at the family home near Lawrenceville, where the bodies were found the night before, said police spokeswoman Illana Spellman. She identified the victims as Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputy Joy Deleston, 39, and her two daughters, Micaiah, 11, and Jelani, 4. The motive was still unclear.

Travis Henry reportedly fathered nine children in four states Travis Henry just got tackled by a $3,000-a-month child support judgment. Sure, the Denver Broncos running back has a $25 million contract and a base monthly salary approaching $50,000, but that kind of bill can still crimp your style when you're accustomed to expensive cars and fancy jewelry — and lots of other child support payments. Henry, 28, has fathered nine children by nine women in at least four Southern states and has been ordered by various judges to provide child support for seven of them, according to court records involving...

JEFFERSON CITY — David Salazar is what many would call a "duped dad." Repeatedly, courts have ordered him to pay child support for a 5-year-old girl, even though no one — not a judge and not the child's mother — claims he's the father. In the eyes of many, Salazar, of Buchanan County, is the victim of a law that traps men into the child support payments, even though they can prove they're not the dads. -snip- That kind of statement angers Sen. Chris Koster, who is sponsoring the Missouri bill. Koster, R-Harrisonville, said he knew children would be harmed...

MILWAUKEE, WI (AP) -- Alderman Michael McGee was arrested in Milwaukee County Circuit Court after a bailiff received a complaint from a woman who had a restraining order in effect against him. The move took place Wednesday after Judge Clare Fiorenza told McGee she was throwing out a restraining order he had obtained against the woman, who claims she is pregnant by the alderman. Kimley Rucker said McGee threatened her while Fiorenza looked for paperwork and her attorney, Russell Jones, said he also heard the remark. But McGee and his attorney, Tarena Washington-Franklin, both denied the alderman said anything while...

Following on the heels of Al Sharpton's criticism of the Democratic Party, Jesse Jackson Friday turned up the rhetorical heat, blaming the party for its "weak, fuzzy ideology." Jackson faulted the Democrats for supporting the NAFTA and CAFTA international trade deals as well as the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, which contained a provision imposing life sentences for people convicted of three violent crimes. Jackson warned black voters to avoid becoming pawns "in the struggle [over] our dignity and our identity. "We must have a commitment to a political order that makes sense for our constituency,"...

No Love Child Left BehindUpset over yesterday's NY Post article, Democratic Assemblyman Herman "Denny" Farrell stormed into The Post's Albany bureau and threatened state editor Frederic U. Dicker on Dicker's radio show. Farrell cried "I'm so freakin' mad. If this was a neighborhood, you know how this could end,". He also added "I just came in to let your listeners know what a piece of slime you are," and added "You're a bully." Within a few hours Farrell issued an apology to the listeners, but not to Dicker. The soon-to-be father has also raised the indignation of local constituents who...

Despite the fact that the cause of Ol' Dirty Bastard's death may not be known for several days, it seems that some of his survivors are already bracing for battle over his assets. The rapper, whose real name was Russell Jones, has been widely reported to have fathered more than a dozen children with different mothers over the years.

Jackson calls on neighboring St. Joseph to lend a hand to Benton Harbor By JAMES PRICHARD The Associated Press 6/20/2003, 2:55 p.m. ET BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (AP) — The Rev. Jesse Jackson says St. Joseph should take more responsibility in helping this neighboring community whose residents' outrage led to nighttime rioting this week. "Biblically, it is the strongest of us who must bear the burden of the weakest of us," the civil rights activist told an audience of about 200 at a Benton Harbor community center on Friday. Boarded-up buildings line many of the streets in economically strapped Benton Harbor....

London (CNSNews.com) - The Rev. Jessie Jackson will be one of the headlined speakers at a planned anti-war rally in London this weekend, organizers said Wednesday. A spokeswoman for the Stop the War Coalition said that Jackson decided to come to England because war protests in the British capital are "more important at the moment" than similar protests in the United States. Several members of Parliament from the ruling Labor Party will be marching in opposition to their party's official line, and the leader of Parliament's third-largest bloc, Liberal Democrat Charles Kennedy, has said he would speak at the rally....
