It's hard out there for a first lady of the United States. Take it from travel-weary Michelle Obama. On Tuesday night, she boarded a luxury 757 for Copenhagen. Think of the stairs she had to climb. Oh, the agony of the feet! Upon arrival, Mrs. O, her "chit-chat buddy," Chicago-based talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey, and Chicago powerbroker/interest-conflicted real estate mogul/senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett immediately embarked on a grueling, grip-and-grin campaign to secure the Olympics for their hometown. Our smile muscles ache in sympathy. You will be comforted to know that the gracious FLOTUS feels your pain for her...

A national dance craze in Ivory Coast has spawned a black market in treatments claiming to increase one's bottom size. The dance in question has been inspired by DJ Mix and DJ Eloh's hit song Bobaraba, which means "big bottom" in the local Djoula language. When it plays you can be guaranteed that the dance floor will be packed with people shaking their derrieres. Even Ivorian footballers have adopted the moves and could be seen wiggling their bottoms in a curious on-pitch dance after each goal scored during the just-ended Africa Nations Cup. However, doctors have warned of the possible...

Why cavemen liked curvy cavewomen...like Kylie 09/03/07 By Martin Evans THERE are a few exceptions which will always stand out, but most female stars yearn for a diminutive derriere. However, it appears that the small and slender bottom is very much a recent trend after an archaeological discovery revealed how Stone Age pin-ups were far from size zero. Ancient carvings depicting the female form 15,000 years ago reveal that prehistoric women were revered for their curvaceous bodies and prominent buttocks. The most popular were the cave-dwellers’ equivalents of Kylie Minogue (pictured), whose renowned behind is the world’s most popular posterior....

Men lust for hourglass curves, say researchers By Roger Highfield Science Editor Last Updated: 11:14pm GMT 09/01/2007 The traditional theory of beauty says that for every man who chases the voluptuous type, such as Jordan or Marilyn Monroe, there is another who prefers to woo a waif such as Twiggy or Kate Moss. But this and the idea that beauty is subjective and ever-changing has been overturned by Prof Devendra Singh and his daughter Adrian Singh. The psychologists from the University of Texas today publish research showing lovestruck men have only one thing on their minds: a woman's WHR -...

It turns out that the worldwide known heart-shape, the symbol of love, doesn’t have to do anything with its anatomic original. An American psychologist says it wasn’t the human heart but the women’s buttocks that were used as its prototype. heart shape looks like woman's bum Galdino Pranzarone, a psychologist from the Roanoke College in Salem , Virginia , says that the red chubby heart, the symbol of love, was inspired by women’s body shape . He suggests that it was the beauty of women’s buttocks that inspired our predecessors to use this part of the body as a...

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – William Donald Schaefer, a former governor who is now state comptroller, ogled a young woman at a Statehouse meeting. And he made no apologies about it. “She's a pretty little girl,” the 84-year-old Democrat told reporters. “The day I don't look at pretty women is the day I die.” Schaefer stared intently at the woman – an aide to Gov. Robert Ehrlich – as she walked away after bringing him a beverage Wednesday during a Board of Public Works meeting. Then he summoned her back, as people waiting to testify watched and waited. The aide, looking puzzled,...

Thin is still in, but apparently fat is nowhere near as out as it used to be. A survey finds America's attitudes toward overweight people are shifting from rejection toward acceptance. Over a 20-year period, the percentage of Americans who said they find overweight people less attractive steadily dropped from 55 percent to 24 percent, the market research firm NPD Group found. With about two-thirds of U.S. adults overweight, Americans seem more accepting of heavier body types, researchers say. The NPD survey of 1,900 people representative of the U.S. population also found other more relaxed attitudes about weight and diet....

The growing epidemic of obesity means that many women and some men aren't getting the full benefit of vaccines and other intramuscular injections, researchers here said today. The solution may be longer needles, said Victoria Chan, M.B., of the Adelaide and Meath Hospital in Dublin colleagues reported at the Radiological Society of North America meeting here. Many medications designed to be delivered by injection into a major muscle group, such as the buttocks, don't make it into muscle when the buttocks are overly fat, said Dr. Chan. Indeed, in a prospective imaging study, Dr. Chan and colleagues found that more...

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Fatter rear ends are causing many drug injections to miss their mark, requiring longer needles to reach buttock muscle, researchers said on Monday. Standard-sized needles failed to reach the buttock muscle in 23 out of 25 women whose rears were examined after what was supposed to be an intramuscular injection of a drug. Two-thirds of the 50 patients in the study did not receive the full dosage of the drug, which instead lodged in the fat tissue of their buttocks, researchers from The Adelaide and Meath Hospital in Dublin said in a presentation to the annual meeting...

The fashion for an out-there derričre, as made famous by J-Lo has prompted a market for silicone implants in the buttocks. Women (or is it their boyfriends?) want their bottoms high and round. An incision is made in the centre of the lower back, and the implants are placed behind the gluteus maximus muscle. Does it hurt? You'll be uncomfortable and bruised, have to wear a support garment for at least two weeks and must carry a soft cushion everywhere - not very J-Lo. Why have it? If your rear end is hopelessly Anglo-Saxon (flat) and no amount of "buns...

BUTT SERIOUSLY By ORLA HEALY June 27, 2005 PEEK-A-BOO g-strings - divine! Runaway bra-straps - sexy! Lumps of puckered lard cascading over the chafing waistbands of skin-tight skirts - absolutely fabulous! Whether it's thunder thighs bursting out of keister-cupping shorts, blubbery bellies drooping over belt lines or deflated bosoms languishing under form-fitting tops - New York is boldly redefining its celebrated status as the nation's fashion capital. The carb-friendly look that's spreading like a pair of child-bearing hips across the city lends itself to creative interpretation, as you'll see in our investigation on the following pages. Never mind that pesky...

Las Vegas law prohibiting strippers from fondling customers during lap dances is unconstitutionally vague, a judge ruled....Friday's ruling affects only dancers within city limits. The Clark County Commission in 2002 limited touching between strippers and patrons during private lap dances, specifically barring strippers from touching or sitting on the customer's genital area. But the municipal code was not as specific, saying only that strippers and their patrons should not "fondle" or "caress" each other.

Swallows are getting sexier. Male barn swallows attract females with long tail feathers, and European researchers have observed that over the last 20 years those feathers have become much longer. "We've demonstrated quite a dramatic change in a short period of time," said Dr. Anders Pape Moller, an evolutionary biologist at Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, who conducted the research with Dr. Tibor Szep of the College of Nyiregyhaza in Hungary. The findings are to be published in The Journal of Evolutionary Biology. Advertisement Experiments suggest that the males' tails act as advertising for good genes because males...

The ice-cloaked Arctic Ocean was once apparently a warm, biologically brewing basin so rich in sinking organic material that some scientists examining fresh evidence pulled from a submerged ridge near the North Pole say the seabed may now hold significant oil and gas deposits. This is just one of many findings from a pioneering expedition that in late summer sent dozens of scientists and technicians on three icebreakers - one with a drilling rig nine stories tall - into the drifting, crunching plates of sea ice to retrieve the first long-term record of climate and ocean conditions there. The expedition...

.Lo and Beyonce can take another bow. The booty-shaking stars have shaped the newest generation of mannequins, with hundreds of well-rounded plastic backsides appearing in shop windows across New York. Bootylicious figures clad in tight low-rise jeans have spilled from the city's street fashion stores into more established labels. "It's absolutely the trend," said Dwight Critchfield, creative director for mannequin firm Goldsmith. "These mannequins look great, and there is a real sex appeal about them." The recent pop culture fixation on large bottoms has been around since at least 1992, when rapper Sir Mix-a-Lot scored a hit with "Baby Got...

I have to confess the J-Lo phenomenon was a difficult one for me to understand. Not that she's an unattractive woman or anything, but let's face it: She possesses a reverse of what most men would consider to be the ideal bust-to-butt ratio, if decades of Playboy, Maxim and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue are any guide. It wasn't until reading an article by the expatriate sage, Fred Reed, that I finally began to understand why Ms. Lopez – or is that Lopez-Anthony now, I'm never quite sure about these things – should present such an appealing image to the...

Esquire Magazine's August edition features some revealing photographs of the 2004 Democratic Presidential contenders in what they consdier their natural elements, but the good editors at the magazine were smart enough to know that it would take more sizzle to attract readers. That may explain why they slapped a picture of actress Jennifer Lopez --clad in a bikini--on the cover.J-Lo's pinup shot leads readers into the features about the candidates, in which Sen. John Kerry is photographed in his Washington townhouse, talking on the phone while his wife Teresa, sits perched on his wingback chair with a cup of tea in...

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congress today approved legislation granting statehood to the "huge ass" of Jennifer Lopez, celebrated Latina movie and pop star. The new state, to be called Buena Booty, will have 3 electoral votes and will hold its first elections on the same day as the Grammy Awards are shown on TV. Ben Affleck, widely considered to be the front-runner for the governorship of Buena Booty in 2003, was completely clueless as to the policies he will pursue if elected to office. "Hey, remember, I was the dumb one in Good Will Hunting," he reminded reporters.

The wild life and times of America's latest ubiquitous pop culture presence: Jennifer Lopez. WITH FLU SEASON UPON US, millions of Americans have rushed to their immunologists, hoping to avoid the cruel bite of the Moscow, New Caledonia, or Hong Kong strains of the influenza virus that are prevalent this year. But no matter the precautions, these doctors can do nothing to stave off the most insidious airborne pathogen to take root since the 1968 pandemic that claimed 34,000 American lives. For it is already here. And we have all suffered exposure. It is nothing less than the J. Lo...
