As the Internet continues to make significant strides in gaining respectability among mainstream media, more and more attention has been focused on the true power of the World Wide Web. Some of that power was felt just a couple weeks ago when Web-savvy viewers of the CBS series "Jericho" convinced the network they were not paying enough attention to how the show was being distributed through non-traditional means -- you know, the Internet -- and in the end, had vastly miscalculated the audience for the show. On top of that, the campaign to organize the "Save Jericho" campaign came almost...

The 10-part series is executive produced by Brian Henson and Robert Halmi, Jr., and produced by The Jim Henson Company in association with RHI Entertainment. "The series will revive and...

Ronald D. Moore, executive producer of SCI FI Channel's original series Battlestar Galactica, told fans that the upcoming third season of the hit SF series could see some fatalities among the characters. "Oh, there're some changes in the air," Moore said at the 64th World Science Fiction Convention, or WorldCon, in Anaheim, Calif., over the weekend. "We're going to lose some people this year. Not all of our friends are going to make it all the way." Moore declined to be specific, but said that the show's writers have finished breaking the story arc for the end of the upcoming...

In 2004, television producer Bryce Zabel (The Crow: Stairway to Heaven) and fellow producer J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5) had an idea to "reboot" Star Trek—an idea that ultimately never came to fruition, though it caught the attention of Trek fans. Since then, the news has emerged that Mission: Impossible III director J.J. Abrams is developing his own take on Star Trek for a proposed 11th film. And Zabel has chosen to post the 14-page treatment he and Straczynski developed on his own blog so that fans can finally get a look at the Trek that might have been. The...

The latest issue of DreamWatch features an interview with actor Richard Hatch, who played Captain Apollo in the original Battlestar Galactica TV Series and now plays Tom Zarek in the Galactica remake. Hatch talked about how he continues to feel that a continuation of the original series would have been just as successful as the Ronald D. Moore's re-imagining. "I don't think a continuation would have been any less successful than a re-imagining," he stated firmly. "A continuation would have evolved the original show: it would have updated the Cylons, brought new characters in and gone into equally provocative areas....

Here are a few excerpts from the update. "Adama, like everyone else in the fleet, had been constantly on the run, constantly under stress, and constantly in danger of losing his life for months on end, with virtually no break from the metal walls surrounding him day in and day out." Moore wrote "When, finally, the people decided to end the long sojourn and settle on New Caprica,...

Yet another great episode. I particularly liked the scene where Adama and Roslyn were discussing abortion while just behind Roslyn was a number counting the remaining people in the fleet. I think it underscored the reality that abortion really does kill people. The fact that this subtle point was mentioned explicitly by Adama (in his usual classy way) was great. This take on abortion was really great and in my opinion very unusual for a TV show. It is clear that Roslyn wasn't pro life and it was interesting to see her forced to move to a different public position...

Anyone else find this to be another episode with parallels to today. There were some lines in it that sounded very familiar. Particularly the bit about not negotiating with terrorists. "Just give them what they want!" , "What if the terrorists are right?" sound like things we hear a lot these days. When i heard "Just give them what they want!" it really reminded me of the way people react to hostage takings in Iraq today. In fact I think Jill Carroll said the same thing in a video the same day this was aired. That is something that immediately...

Tonight's Sci-Fi Listing: 8/7 - Stargate SG1 Ethon: Daniel is imprisoned on a world under the influence of the Ori, and the Prometheus is caught in a firefight when SG-1 tries to rescue him. Last Weeks Episode was good. I liked seeing Samatha Carter and I did like the sea...

Ok did anyone else like tonight's Battlestar? This along with the episode where the media were cylon agents makes me wonder. There are clear parallels here between the peace faction and the anti war left. I especially liked the part where the peace group was created and directed by a cylon. The peace activist suicide bomber screaming peace as she detonated herself among innocent civilians reminded me of Michael Moore from team america.
