Kendrick Lamar opened the BET Awards Sunday night rapping about police brutality while on top of a vandalized police car with a ripped American flag waving behind him. Performing his song “Alright,” the 28-year-old rapped about overcoming his struggles. Many saw the performance as a political statement referencing recent events in Ferguson and Baltimore.
