Former President Bill Clinton's speech was the highlight of the Democratic Party convention — overshadowing President Obama's own acceptance speech, according to a new poll. A new Pew survey finds that 29 percent of those who watched some of the coverage named Clinton's speech as the highlight. Obama's speech drew 16 percent of the plaudits, and first lady Michelle Obama's speech was the highlight for 15 percent of respondents. Obama's speech was also rated lower than his 2008 acceptance speech. According to Pew, 42 percent of watchers rated Obama's speech as excellent in 2008. This year, only 29 percent rated...

“We’re doomed,” Limbaugh said this afternoon on his top-rated talk show. “If Obama’s re-elected, it will happen. There’s no IF about this. And it’s gonna be ugly. It’s gonna be gut-wrenching, but it will happen. The country’s economy is going to collapse if Obama is re-elected. I don’t know how long: a year and a half, two years, three years.” Limbaugh is expecting California to go belly up first, setting off a chain of financial calamities. “California is going to declare bankruptcy and you know what Obama will do? BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: My question is, why is Obama still campaigning? Could somebody explain that to me. Everywhere I look, this election's over. Why, Obama has hit 50% approval in the polls now for the first time ever. The bounce out of that disaster of a convention was unprecedented, other than Dukakis who had a 17-point lead after his, and somehow he lost. Brit Hume said today on Fox, "Well, you know, you gotta keep in mind the guy leading in the polls in mid-September rarely loses." Ever heard of Dukakis? Ever heard of Jimmy Carter? CHARLOTTE - Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-MA) will lacerate Mitt Romney on foreign policy in a major speech tonight at the Democratic National Convention. "In this campaign, we have a fundamental choice," Kerry will say, according to speech excerpts provided to The Cable. "Will we protect our country and our allies, advance our interests and ideals, do battle where we must, and make peace where we can? Or will we entrust our place in the world to someone who just hasn't learned the lessons of the last decade?"

The Obama campaign has insisted on seeing the speech before Clinton delivers it, and Clinton has just as insistently refused to show it to them. As a result, no one — not even the president — knows what Clinton intends to say. This has led some Democratic insiders to speculate that Clinton will make not-so-flattering remarks about the last four years of Democratic rule in the White House.

Around two dozen clergy from various churches in the area met for two hours on Saturday in Chesapeake, discussing possible ideas for motivating support for Obama among their congregations. "We are concerned that many of our congregants are developing an aversion to supporting the president at the polls," read the invite email, which was sent out last month. The major concern among the clergy was that Obama's support for same-sex marriage would prompt many African Americans to...

Under President Obama, there has been an unprecedentedly sharp, and first-ever, switch, to preferring the Republican Party, over the Democratic Party. In fact, the damage that has been done to the Democratic brand during the Obama Presidency, going from a historically normal Democratic ratio of 1.38 in 2008, down 39% to the present abysmal .83, exceeds the Republican fall-offs under each of George W. Bush’s terms, which declined from the Republican ratio of 1.41 in 2000, down 18% to 1.16 in 2004, and then down yet another 31% to the unprecedented low .80 in 2008, which virtually doomed the campaign...

Marc Benioff, a national campaign co-chair for President Obama's reelection campaign, donated $10,000 to Ryan's political action committee earlier this summer, in June, according to CNN. Benioff has helped raise more than $500,000 for Obama's re-election effort, and even hosted a $35,800-a-plate fundraiser featuring Stevie Wonder and hip-hop artist The founder and CEO of is also an Obama national campaign co-chair, a distinction awarded to select Democratic heavyweights like Rahm Emanuel, Dick Durbin and Russ Feingold. Americans Continue to Give Obama Low Marks on the Economy Low rating on the economy may be more problematic than even lower deficit rating PRINCETON, NJ -- Three months before the election, President Barack Obama gets good marks from Americans for his handling of terrorism, fair marks for education and foreign affairs, but poor marks on immigration and three big economic issues: the federal budget deficit, creating jobs, and the economy generally.
  • The “youth vote” is turning away from Obama

The numbers surrounding the “youth vote” – where it is likely to go and how small it is likely to be – spell trouble for Barack Obama. In 2008 51% of eligible voters 18 to 29 showed up to vote. They represented 18% of the total vote and supported Barack Obama over John McCain 66/34. Nevertheless, history tells us that when it actually come down to showing up at the polls to vote this group has a track record of falling short of their “declared” numbers. In other words the “youth voters” can talk a good game but often don’t...

President Obama defended the tone of his campaign today, saying his team doesn't "go out of bounds." The president was asked by CBS's Nancy Cordes if he had compunctions about the tenor of the campaign, saying that "your campaign has suggested repeatedly without proof that Mr. Romney might be hiding something in his tax returns, they have suggested that Mr. Romney might be a felon for the way that he handed over power of Bain Capital, and your campaign and the White House have declined to condemn an ad by one of your top supporters that links Mr. Romney to...

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — When President Barack Obama made an unannounced stop at a farm market here on Saturday, he likely had no idea how much some of his recent comments have caused quite a stir with its employees and management. Before a fired-up campaign speech in Windham, N.H., Obama stopped at Mack's Apples, a farm market that specializes in sales of fresh fruit. It was a place Obama visited twice in 2008, holding two campaign rallies on the property. But lately, the management at Mack's has noticed some of Obama's comments that have been seized by Republicans and caused a...

Look, I’m a pretty sunny optimist, but this stretches even my credulity. A pollster in Illinois believes that Mitt Romney can win Barack Obama’s home state, thanks to a mediocre performance in Cook County by the incumbent, and outright hostility outstate: A poll conducted by Illinois-based pollster and political strategist Michael McKeon found Obama leading Republican Mitt Romney by 49 percent to 37 percent in Cook County, the home of Chicago. That puts him ahead by a far thinner margin than expected in a county he should be winning handsomely. Cook is the most Democratic leaning county in the state....

"The other reason I think Biden’s gaffes aren't that damaging to the president is because the media is so playing a part in this campaign. I think this is going to be the worst media bias we’ve seen since the 1992 election. We can bring back those old bumper stickers. It was 'Annoy the Media - Vote Bush.' Now it’s 'Annoy the Media – Vote Romney.'”So said conservative author Ann Coulter on Sunday's Fox & Friends Weekend (video follows with transcript and commentary): Coulter: 'Biden’s Gaffes Aren't That Damaging to Obama Because Media Is So Playing a Part in This...
