Church resurrects controversial billboard

A controversial Christmas billboard which was vandalised will be resurrected today by the church which put it up. The Auckland billboard shows a deflated looking Joseph and a disappointed Mary lying in bed together, with the caption "Poor Joseph, God was a hard act to follow." It was put up by Auckland's progressive Christian church St Matthew in the City. The vicar says he wanted to lampoon the literal Christian conception story and get people discussing miracles and God. But a few hours after the billboard went up, an angry man with a pot of brown paint covered over Mary...

Unholy row over New Zealand Mary and Joseph billboard

An unholy row has broken out in New Zealand over a church billboard aimed at "challenging stereotypes" about the birth of Jesus Christ. A dejected-looking Joseph lies in bed next to Mary under the caption, "Poor Joseph. God was a hard act to follow". St Matthew-in-the-City Church in Auckland, which erected the billboard, said it had intended to provoke debate. But the Catholic Church, among others, has condemned it as "inappropriate" and "disrespectful". Within hours of its unveiling, the billboard had been defaced with brown paint. The church's vicar, Archdeacon Glynn Cardy, said the aim of the billboard had been...

Of course the Facist left who whined about free speech during the Bush years will be up in arms you know the drill do as I say not as I do.

A billboard at a Wheat Ridge car dealership — with a caricature of President Barack Obama as a turban- wearing jihadist — has sparked a boycott and death threats, but even more support, its sponsor said. Phil Wolf, owner of Wolf Automotive, said the billboard asks a legitimate question about Obama's alleged lack of documentation of his American birth. "President or Jihad?" the billboard reads. "Wake up, America! Remember Fort Hood!" Wolf said politicians have not been held accountable.

Big Missouri Billboard Calls For Second American Revolution

A new billboard off of Interstate 70 in Missouri provides a short “citizens guide to REVOLUTION of a corrupt government” and issues a call to “PREPARE FOR WAR.” It reads: 1. Starve the Beast. Keep your money. 2. Vote out incumbents. 3. If steps 1 & 2 fail.... You can guess the rest. This billboard replaces one that warned that the socialist “Obama-Nation” is “coming for you.” It’s unclear who the owner of the billboard is, but the first one was the work of a “Missouri businessman.” While it’s unclear who owns it, the Lafayette County Republican Central Committee seems...

Anti-Obama billboard stirs controversy (with Poll)

(Excerpt) WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. - Call it Freedom of Speech. A billboard recently erected in Wheat Ridge compares President Barack Obama to a terrorist and questions his U.S. citizenship. The billboard, located at 4855 Miller Road, shows two cartoonish images of Obama wearing a Muslim turban and reads "PRESIDENT or JIHAD?" It also says "BIRTH CERTIFICATE - PROVE IT!" alluding to the conspiracy theory which claims Barack Obama was born in Kenya rather than Hawaii, which would disqualify him for the office of President. The words "WAKE UP AMERICA! REMEMBER FT. HOOD!" appear on the bottom of the billboard. (more...

Non Religious Billboard Brings Controversy To Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A new Nashville organization classifies itself as non-religious, but the group's billboard has stirred up a religious debate. The organization behind the billboard is called Secular Life. Secular Life is a group of about 340 people who consider themselves part of the non-religious community. On Sunday, they began advertising on a billboard in Green Hills, and already Secular Life is getting a lot of attention. "It just absolutely wrong place, wrong town, wrong timing," said Green Hills resident Donnie Cude. Something about the phrase "Not Religious, You're not alone", doesn't sit well with Cude. "It's a slap...

Beer-Bottle Baby Is Turning Drivers' Heads

The image of a baby sucking on a beer bottle is drawing eyes to a billboard on Route 154 in Deep River, Connecticut. "There's a lot of conversation about it, and that's good. Something like that makes people think and start talking," said Wayne Martin, who owns the bakery and deli next to the billboard. That's what the people who designed the billboard were trying to do. They say you take special care of your child as an infant and you should be doing the same when they're teenagers. That means not letting your teen drink. "Letting kids drink young...

BLUE SPRINGS, MO. – An unusual sign has appeared along Interstate 70 in Blue Springs. If you are traveling in the eastbound lanes of the freeway between Adams Dairy Parkway and the Grain Valley exit you will see a sign that appears to be anti-President Barack Obama. NBC Action News reporter Sloane Heller confirmed late Thursday morning the billboard is owned by William...

Islam on the March, Recruiting via Billboards

Yesterday, for the first time I saw a billboard very similar to the one pictured here: It leads to the linked website. Apparently, this is a nationwide campaign to place advertisements to recruit for "islam," aka mohammedanism. Not only did the sight of it chill me to the bone, I notice the timing is close to 9/11 and Rosh Hashanah. The one I saw in L.A. is adjacent to the largest Black area and very near the most orthodox Jewish neighborhood.

Americans make homemade 'Where's the birth certificate?' signs WASHINGTON – Americans are picking up on the "Where's the birth certificate?" billboard campaign by creating their own homemade versions of the signs and displaying them on highways, byways and on their own properties. As the latest WND-sponsored billboard went up in front of Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Hotel, others are pitching in to demand proof of Barack Obama's eligibility for office with some bootleg versions of the message – often in slightly less prominent venues.
