A coalition of pro-life organizations, activists, and journalists issued a public statement today calling upon Cardinal Sean O'Malley, the Archbishop of Boston, and the other Catholic bishops of Massachusetts, to stop their betrayals of the pro-life movement. In its 2004 document Catholics in Political Life, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops specifically prohibited Catholic institutions from giving awards, honors or platforms to political figures who support legal abortion. The coalition cited nineteen violations of this in the last three years involving Catholic prelates in the Bay State.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops slammed as "reprehensible" President Trump's decision to "wind down" the program that protects immigrants brought to the country illegally as children, charging that the uncertainty as Congress is left to forge a consensus "causes unnecessary fear for DACA youth and their families." Some 800,000 beneficiaries are covered under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. "While new applications for work permits will not be accepted, all existing work permits will be honored until their date of expiration up to two full years from today," President Trump said in a statement issued by the White...

Catholic voters know better than their bishops, it would seem. Leading American bishops have complained about the “harshness” of Trump’s campaign rhetoric and called for an end to deportation of aliens until the “broken” system can be fixed. Yet, despite this opposition from the Church’s hierarchy, Trump won 52% of the Catholic vote (to Hillary’s 45%), a historic margin for a Republican. How to explain this contradiction? Real simple. The laity get it better than the bishops. Trump’s nationalism is fully consistent with Catholic social doctrine as it has developed in the last 126 years. It is the leaders of...

The two bishops of Aleppo abducted in 2013 in Syria are still alive, said Mgr Daniel Kourie, Syriac Orthodox bishop of Beirut, who spoke on Saturday at the ceremony marking the 47th anniversary of the Virgin Mary’s apparitions over the dome of the cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Moussaitbeh, near Beirut. The commemoration of these apparitions, which this Church invariably commemorates on the first Sunday after Easter, coincided this year with the 4th anniversary of the abduction in Syria (22 April 2013) of the Syriac Orthodox and Greek Orthodox bishops of Aleppo, Youhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yazigi, whose...

Donald Trump has scared the devil out of America’s Catholic bishops. They have supported the Democrat agenda for so long – global warming, amnesty, raising the minimum wage, and national health care – that they can’t seem to let go. As a result, with few exceptions, these prelates have blithely ignored Trump’s defense of moral principles supported by the Church – on abortion, on religious freedom, on radical federal judges, and on education. Given Trump’s reversals of Obama’s pernicious policies, why aren’t Catholic bishops cheering? Why haven’t they told the faithful and the public that at last we have a...

Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, leader of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston in Texas, was elected to a three-year term as president of the bishops’ organization, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The bishops also elected Cardinal Jose Gomez of Los Angeles as vice president, the report states. DiNardo previously served as the vice president and as the chair of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities of the USCCB. One of his duties as the new president will be to guide U.S. Catholic...

Last Saturday, I dropped my last mailing to the bishops in the mailbox. I have said all I can say to them for this election cycle. So far, I have largely been ignored... but there are exceptions. My own bishop, though, has denied me a hearing with him. I simply pray for our beautiful country and for our Church. The collective silence of our bishops in the face of the ever-expanding evil in our government, hurts our authority. It is true authority that separates the Catholic Church from all others. This authority is given to administer the Sacraments, instruct in...

The next president will likely appoint a 7-2 Supreme Court. Think this election is just politics as usual? Think again. If that president is Hillary Clinton… “I do have a litmus test, I have a bunch of litmus tests, because the next president could get as many as three appointments,” the former first lady responded. “It’s one of the many reasons why we can’t turn the White House over to the Republicans again.” . . . “We have to preserve marriage equality,” Clinton said. “We have to go further to end discrimination against the LGBT community, we’ve got to make...

August 23, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – Leaked emails through WikiLeaks reveal that billionaire globalist George Soros - one of Hilary Clinton's top donors - paid $650,000 to influence Pope Francis’ September 2015 visit to the USA with a view to "shift[ing] national paradigms and priorities in the run-up to the 2016 presidential campaign." The funds were allocated in April 2015 and the report on their effectiveness suggests that successful achievements included, “Buy-in of individual bishops to more publicly voice support of economic and racial justice messages in order to begin to create a critical mass of bishops who are aligned with...

Archbishop Blaise Cupich of Chicago ranks as one of the most progressive (if not heretical) bishops in the United States. His disdain for Catholic morality is all-too-well known. To wit: As bishop of Spokane Washington he forbade his priests from participating in the 40 Days for Life campaign. When the Supreme Court passed a ruling on "gay mowwidge", the statement he uttered was, at best, limp-wristed lip service to marriage. He issued a statement claiming that gun control and immigration are equal in importance to baby-slaughter. He advocates violations of Canon 915. Despite all these serious and blatant shortcomings, the...

A new book reveals that Pope Pius XII was intimately involved in a plot to kill Hitler. His contacts with German Catholics from the days when he was Apostolic Nuncio put him in a unique position to orchestrate the overthrow of the tyrant. Today, it's difficult to imagine a pope strategizing the downfall of a dictator. But it's also difficult for us to imagine the terror that gripped Europe at that time. Extreme times call for extreme measures that are rarely contemplated in peace time... ...With all their good intentions, some bishops seem to have forgotten that the peaceable kingdom...

As the United States prepares to celebrate Thanksgiving - a holiday that American legend traces back to a dinner between Native Americans and bedraggled, immigrant pilgrims - some of the country's top political leaders are calling to block the arrival of Syrian refugees, would-be immigrants fleeing chaos and possible death in the Middle East, a situation some think the U.S. may have helped create. In the wake of the Nov. 13 Paris terrorist attacks, newly elected U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said the U.S. government needs to "balance our compassion and our safety," when it comes to processing refugees...

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is a "satanic terrorist group." Those were the words of Cdl. Kurt Koch of Germany on Tuesday at the International Ecumenical Congress held in his country near Stuttgart. The German cardinal, one of the few remaining orthodox prelates in Germany, told his audience it's wrong to believe violent persecutions of Christians are a thing of the past. Instead, he pointed out how there are plenty of martyrs for the Faith today, specifically because of ISIS. "In about 25 countries Christians are under threat of life and limb," observed Cdl. Koch. Hence, it is...

A Spanish archbishop has called the large influx of migrants currently travelling through Europe an "invasion" that could turn into a "Trojan horse" in European societies. Cardinal Antonio Canizares, Archbishop of Valencia, told a meeting of the New Economic Forum that many so-called refugees are in fact not fleeing persecution and may not be "totally trustworthy" in their intentions in settling in Europe. The cardinal asked the audience: "This invasion of migrants: is it totally trustworthy? What will Europe be like in a few years, given when is happening now? "You cannot play with history, nor with people's identity," he...

Vatican City (AFP) - Bishops launched a global appeal Monday for a breakthrough at upcoming Paris climate talks, including a "complete decarbonisation" of the world's economy and more help for poor countries battling the effects of climate change. The bishops said any agreement "should limit global temperature increases to avoid catastrophic climatic impacts, especially on the most vulnerable communities". From across five continents they called "not only for 'drastic reduction in the emission of carbon dioxide and other toxic gasses', but also for ending the fossil fuel era". The goal should be "complete decarbonisation by mid-century, in order to protect...

Stanisław Gądecki, Archbishop of Posen and President of the Polish Bishops' Conference has spoken of an attack against Catholic teaching on marriage and sexuality on October 17, 2015 in the Synod Hall. Some said that they do not wish to change doctrine, but that is indeed exactly what they are trying to do. The proposal for a change in the order of the sacraments is in reality an attempt to change the doctrine by the back door. The intervention of the Archbishop is of great significance, because these attacks had been carefully planned afore time. Additionally the polish delegates can...
