  • Disintegration: What It Looks Like When a Nation Collapses

Whether the system is going to collapse is not the question. Most informed individuals understand that out of control spending fueled by trillions of dollars in debt, unprecedented monetary expansion and ever increasing dependence on a government social safety net overburdened by millions of people in need of essential services can not be sustained forever. For many Americans and our counterparts in Europe, the collapse is now. To suggest that we are somehow on the road to recovery is nothing but conjecture.

"Wasn't he, uh, that guy who said 'Give me liberty or give me death'?" Yeah, he was. If any mention is made of Patrick Henry, or any incidental reference linked to his name, the vast majority of folks remember he said something like that, since it is cited as his single, or at least the most 'historical thing' that he did. What they don't remember was the obstructionism he caused in the framing of our Constitution. Kindness, perhaps, leaves him with only that one quote as his single contribution to American history. Kindness, perhaps, leaves out the problems he introduced...

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says a federal court’s overturning of a city firearms ordinance “won’t stop us from carrying out our over all crime strategy.” “The problem from our perspective is that too many people have access to guns,” Emanuel asserted. “We won’t have law and order until everyone except the police is disarmed. The City must have a monopoly on the use of deadly force. Only then will the balance of terror be sufficiently one-sided to ensure peace.” As for the court’s ruling, Emanuel suggested that “the court may take whatever position it likes in the courtroom. . Make no mistake, our founding fathers have never granted a power to Congress to regulate aliens within the various State borders. What they did grant to Congress is the power to set the requirements by which an alien may become a citizen of the united States. And if there is any dispute concerning the limited power granted to Congress regarding the rule of naturalization, let our founding fathers speak for themselves. REPRESENTATIVE WHITE while debating the Rule of Naturalization notes the narrow limits of what ``Naturalization`` [the power granted to Congress] means, and he ``doubted whether the constitution authorized...

Today’s ruling appropriately bars the State of Arizona from effectively criminalizing unlawful status in the state and confirms the federal government’s exclusive authority to regulate in the area of immigration. America is very much a gun culture, and more weapons remain in civilian hands here than just about anywhere on earth, which is a good thing. We also have a fascination with pistols in this country, with the vast majority of the states having some sort of carry provisions in their laws allowing anyone not prohibited from carrying a pistol on their person. Some states have open carry while most have concealed carry, and thus a great many Americans are armed with handguns at any given time.Reasons listed on most concealed carry applications range from personal protection, to protection...

Just five days ago, MSNBC ran an article describing SB 1070 as the "papers, please" immigration law. MSNBC framed the law as if the only the provision in it allowed police officers to inquire about the immigration status of criminals. Today, the Supreme Court has ruled that that key provision is constitutional. Yet, in its wake the Main Stream Media has instantly changed their tune, declaring that the high court has struck down the law. The importance of the provision that they once declared indefensible and unconstitutional? All but forgotten in their headlines. MSNBC, for example, has this headline blaring...

According to the AP, the Supreme Court today has (again) ruled that corporations have the right to spend freely to advocate for or against candidates for state and local offices. I would call it something else entirely: asinine. Demonic even. How about blasphemous? In an article for the Catholic Herald which may be found here, Fr. After all, Attorney General Eric Holder's Justice Department gave more than seven thousand documents to the House committee investigating the matter.Considering the sheer volume of paper involved, two questions remain unanswered: First, who ordered the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to sell assault weapons to Mexican drug cartels? It's time, once again, to clarify a major misrepresentation by General Motors and the media. That is the implication that the recently announced move to modify a portion of non-union pensions will result in an improvement of $26 billion to GM's pension shortfall. GM shares are down about 5% since the announcement, bringing into question the accuracy of the rosy projections. Recently, oil industry insiders have stated that gas prices throughout the country are going to drop as low as $2.50 a gallon due to a drop in demand and high supply. Surely this is good news for drivers in the short run, but if the federal government continues to block domestic production, we will see prices continue on an upward trend. What makes these price increases worse is that a significant portion of what people pay for gas is taxes. The federal gasoline tax is 18.4 cents per gallon and the average state gas tax is 26 cents per gallon....

The US Supreme Court today struck down most of Arizona’s SB 1070 immigration law, but upheld section 2B, which allows police to check an arrestee’s immigration status if there is reasonable suspicion that that person is in the country illegally. The other sections struck down were found to be trumped by already existing federal law. Here is the court’s opinion. As for section 2B of the law, the Supreme Court handed it back to the 9th Circuit, which had struck that provision down. When a kids see other kids being bullied, current teaching advises them to speak up for the victim. But when the victim is an adult, the common response is to freeze. "I think that's the next wave we're going to see," said Edie Raether, a psychotherapist and author of "Stop Bullying Now." "It is David and Goliath in reverse. Kids run in packs....and an adult is never in either pack or camp and thus it is more risky to speak up...It is a confusing situation, and a confused mind is frozen, passive." Raether, who speaks internationally on bullying intervention, intends...

Once upon a time, there was a mirror. And the mirror was bright, and polished, and pure, without any flaw; and it was said the the mirror would return the very image of its beholder without distortion. And it happened, by chance or malfeasance, that the mirror fell, and was shattered: and it was broken, sparkling, into countless shards scattered throughout the earth. And the fate of these shards as they were scattered differed one from another. Some indeed retained their brilliance, such that they sparkled like a rainbow in the sun, but all their powers to return an image...

There have been so many times we traditional Americans have been repulsed by what we have seen from this President, we have forgotten a lot of it. So I put together a list as a reminder to all Americans. This list makes a good post to your Facebook page: 1. Obama wants to “fundamentally transform” America: 2. Obama wants electricity rates to “skyrocket”: 3. Obama says knowing when human life begins is “above my pay grade”:

“Every time in this century we've lowered the tax rates across the board, on employment, on saving, investment and risk-taking in this economy, revenues went up, not down.” ~ Jack Kemp* By: Larry Walker, Jr. *A total of 3,514,000 Nonfarm jobs had already been lost by the time President Bush handed the keys over to Barack Obama, yet even though the Great Recession officially ended in June of 2009, an additional 4,889,000 jobs were lost during Obama’s first 11 months in office (see table). By November of 2009 the recession had eliminated an estimated 8,403,000 jobs. It was at this...

PRESIDENT OBAMA Cairo, Egypt June 4, 2009 “So let me be clear: No system of government can or should be imposed by one nation by any other. That does not lessen my commitment, however, to governments that reflect the will of the people. Each nation gives life to this principle in its own way, grounded in the traditions of its own people. America does not presume to know what is best for everyone, just as we would not presume to pick the outcome of a peaceful election. But I do have an unyielding belief that all people yearn for certain...

For the left, Operation Fast and Furious is George W. Bush's fault, or it's a witch-hunt over already answered questions. Second, did the person or persons in question ever once consider the deadly consequences this action would have on the lives of innocent people caught in the crossfire? For some, the...
