A 23-year-old Michigan man faces up to 10 years in jail for illegally possessing bombs, which he allegedly intended to use to destroy the Xcel Energy Center during the Republican National Convention. Matthew Bradley DePalma, of Flint, Mich., was charged Aug. 30 with one count of possession of firearms. According to his criminal complaint, DePalma had several Molotov cocktails in his possession a week before the start of the RNC. A packed holiday jet flew across the Atlantic despite a passenger finding a note claiming there was a bomb on board. The terrified holidaymaker found the hand-written note in a toilet only 20 minutes into the flight from the Dominican Republic to Newcastle International Airport. He immediately alerted a stewardess and, when two more notes were discovered, the pilot left the cockpit to see for himself. He decided the notes were a hoax and decided to continue with the scheduled flight rather than divert to the nearest airport.

Employees and shoppers are being allowed back into the Rib Mountain Wal-mart after a bomb scare. Petersburg Police and officers from two other counties converged on Petersburg High School to help control several fights that broken out there, officials say. School officials say the incidents stem from a bomb threat that was called in to Petersburg High in the afternoon. A US air base in western Germany was the target of a bomb threat last night, sparking a large operation by police and American forces to secure the site, police revealed today. The FBI used a novel type of remotely installed spyware last month to investigate who was e-mailing bomb threats to a high school near Olympia, Wash. Federal agents obtained a court order on June 12 to send spyware called CIPAV to a MySpace account suspected of being used by the bomb threat hoaxster. A bomb threat prompted authorities to shut down the Fort Pitt, Liberty and Squirrel Hill tunnels for nearly an hour this evening during rush hour. A threat was called in to Allegheny County's 911 sometime around 5:30 p.m. and the tunnels were closed at 5:40 p.m. The Squirrel Hill tunnel reopened to inbound traffic at 6:20 p.m. and the outbound side reopened a few minutes later.
