GOVERNMENT HACK OF THE DAY

California State Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, a Democrat, did an interview with the LA Times. Thought you may enjoy her response to the following question: How do you think conservative talk radio has affected the Legislature's work? Bass' response: The Republicans were essentially threatened and terrorized against voting for revenue. Now [some] are facing recalls. They operate under a terrorist threat: "You vote for revenue and your career is over." I don't know why we allow that kind of terrorism to exist. I guess it's about free speech, but it's extremely unfair. Now that's a first. I know that politicians...

MOVED' ... SERIOUSLY?

The situation in Iran is not letting up. We've got people in jail, protestors being shot to death, a fraudulent election in the hands of a regime on the verge of obtaining a nuclear weapon. All of this and the best that our White House Press Secretary can come up with is the fact that Barack Obama ... the leader of the free world ... has been "moved" by the protests in Iran. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D98VTF400&show_article=1&catnum=3P Moved? Moved? Well I'm so glad he's moved. People are fighting for their freedom, and Obama is moved. That's just so special. I'm moved that he's...

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS ONE?

It happened last night. There was debate on the floor of the House over some amendments to a spending bill. The amendments were offered by Republicans and concerned funding for ACORN and an investigation into Nancy Pelosi's problems with the CIA. As I understand the story, the Democrats announced that there would be no more votes that evening, and Republicans started heading home. When enough Republicans were gone the Democrats headed back to the House floor and called for a vote to end debate on all amendments to the spending bill. Republicans scrambled to get back into the House, but...

Selling of GM to the Government

How do you like the idea of the Imperial Federal Government of the United States owning ALL of General Motors? Well, it could happen! Yeah, I know ... that's pure socialism. But look who's in the White House! A typical Marxist grad student is running the show. Don't act surprised. According to Reuters: General Motors' plan for a bankruptcy filing involves a quick sale of the company's healthy assets to a new company initially owned by the U.S. government, a source familiar with the situation said on Tuesday. The new company is expected to honor the claims of secured lenders,...

This has happened all over the world with barber shops and teleprompter manufacturing companies. But this one has become a big deal because the restaurants serve fried chicken. The new names -- Obama Fried Chicken and Obama Fried Chicken & Pizza - are being targeted by local protestors because they are said to be racist. That's right!
Obama Looking to Launder Bailout Money to Avoid the Pay for Performance Plan?

So now the Obama Administration, who wants control of the banking industry, is faced with banks backing out of the bailouts because the Democrats are taking to big a bite. What to do? Boortz explains: Sources indicate that Obama can get around the rules by not providing direct aid to financial companies. What you do here is set up some special entity that will act as a middleman. The government pays the middleman, and the middleman then sends the money off to the financial institution. Since the financial institution isn't getting bailout money "from the government" the Barney restrictions don't...

But the people who make sure that the video game isle is clear for the dumb masses .. it's okay to give those people bonuses. On the other side ..
Boortz: FORCING THE CAR MARKET

FORCING THE CAR MARKET Yesterday Barack Obama decided that he wanted to throw more money at another problem. So he unveiled his plan to spend $2.4 billion for electric vehicle development. The plan also gives a $7,500 tax credit to people who buy plug-in hybrid vehicles. So what's the problem? The problem is that there isn't a market for these vehicles. As of right now, hybrid cars only represent 2% of US vehicle sales, and it is deeply unprofitable for car companies. Just wait until the people buying those hybrids (and I have one myself) have to replace the batteries....

GUN OWNERS OUTED BY NEWSPAPER

Things are getting heated in Memphis, Tennessee where a newspaper decided it would be a good idea to publish all the names and information of gun owners in the state. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/feb/15/inside-the-newsroom-case-for-gun-permit-listings/?partner=RSS The Commercial Appeal's Web site now lists all those in Tennessee who have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. The outcry from the public has been so huge, that the paper felt the need to defend its decision. Governor Moonbeam (or whatever they call him this week) actually said "A little state control never hurt anybody." Now that's a nice little Democrat. Democrats love state control. Only government is bright enough to do these things ... not the private sector, and certainly not the people.
Of all liberal arguments for government control, this is perhaps one of the easiest to destroy. Since the era of mass communications despots have realized that one of the keys to absolute power was control of the means of communication. Our founding fathers didn't do today's politicians any favors with the First Amendment. There is really nothing the power-hungry political class can do about newspapers because of that troublesome little guarantee of "freedom of the press." Clearly our framers intended for a prohibition of any control over the means of communication.
