  • Ryan’s Plan Deserves Kudos, Not Boos

Yesterday, Paul Ryan, Republican Chairman of the House Budget Committee, unveiled his plan that would balance the federal budget within one decade. Considering that the nation’s debt (not including the huge future cost of major entitlement programs) is now approaching $17 trillion, one might think political leaders in Washington, D.C. would consider such a proposal. On the Democratic side of the aisle, however, there is no interest whatsoever in taking such a constructive approach. Democrats in both houses of the Congress and the Obama Administration, along with many media-based pundits, began to loudly criticize the Ryan proposal even before it...

The amazing conclusion to yesterday’s snafu involving the Democratic platform’s language on Israel. After an evening of bad press they decided to reinsert the language about Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, along with some language about God after people noticed that the phrase “God-given” in the 2008 platform had been dropped in the new one. Simple process, in theory: Have someone from the floor propose adding the new language, then let the delegates approve it via a voice vote. The result? A trainwreck so awful that even Paul Begala didn’t try to spin it. As you’ll see, Villaraigosa’s astonishment...
  • Limbaugh on Michelle Obama booing at NASCAR event: A recognition of 'uppity-ism'(Audio)

There has been a ton of backlash from the media for Michelle Obama being booed at the Ford 400 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida on Sunday. However, even if it is considered disrespectful to the office of the First Lady, is it justified? On his Monday show, radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh suggested it was certainly justify and deserved. According to Limbaugh, it was rebuke of the Obamas and some of the policies they have promoted while in the White House. “Bottom line: We don’t like being told what to eat,” Limbaugh said. “We don’t like being told...

“The American way is not to give taxpayer-subsidized benefits to people who have broken our laws and are here in the United States illegally,” Bachmann said at the CNN/Tea Party Express debate. Perry defended the law, saying it was a states’ rights issue. “We were clearly sending a message to young people that, regardless of what the sound of their last name is, that we believe in you,” Perry said.
  • 'Dancing With the Stars': Boos for Judges, Not Sarah Palin

"Dancing With the Stars" tonight presented video outtakes as evidence that the crowd Monday night did not boo Sarah Palin as she was about to be interviewed by the show's host. The video clip aired tonight showed the crowd booing after the show's judges announced a score many in the audience apparently considered too low, and increased as one of the judges seemed to egg them on. (snip) But late Monday night, on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," Bergeron said the crowd wasn't booing Palin, they were just upset because they felt that Grey should've gotten a higher score. Grey and Hough's...

Sorry for the vanity. Numerous people have been posting at various sites that they have heard from people at the game that there was a loud chorus of boos for 0bama. (AKA Lamar, the limp wristed javeline thrower from Revenge of the Nerds). There may have been an effort to either pipe in cheers over the public address system, edit out some of the boos or both. Anyone else getting this?

I am watching the game and there she is! With Piper and Bristol (or perhaps not Bristol, but the middle daughter- I forgot her name). she looks great! A mixed crowd reaction, but mostly cheering, some boos for sure, but they were drowned out by the music. Hey, people can boo if they want, it's still a free country (for now). It all went off without a hitch. I Love Sarah Palin.

Six-plus minutes for your enjoyment/disgust, the first half of which are devoted to praising His Holy Name. Mark Hemingway was there and was struck by the booing, but you don’t have to take his word for it; it’s clearly audible here, sufficiently so that even more leftish commentators felt moved to acknowledge it. Still not convinced? Just follow LGF’s link to Hillary’s website and scroll through some of the comments. He’s not overselling it when he calls them “amazing.” And after Obama went and posted such a flattering web graphic, too. The second half is the hear-me-roar material, without which...

Several have mentioned the false report from the AP that there were boo's when President Bush asked for prayers for President Clinton before his surgery. This event was the first big rally in Wisconsin after the convention. I was there. The report was totally false, there were no boos. Powerline blog has done legwork to locate contact emails and has framed the issue at this link. Just a couple of sentences to these emails will require AP to reconsider the efficacy of publishing lies rather than straight reporting. POWERLINE BLOG WRITES:::::::::: Waiting for Mr. Hays Over the weekend, we wrote...

I sent an email to ask why the bogus AP news story of "BOOS" was still on their web site. Below is my email and their response:My email:Subject: Are you reporting accurately? Why is it the article below (link provided) is still on your website when it contians an obvious retracted LIE? Have you corrected this bogus story? "Many in Bush's audience booed when Clinton's name was mentioned." http://www.kwwl.com/Global/story.asp?S=2257936 Thank you. Chris Here is the response:The AP corrected the story but we didn't. It shouldn't have happened and I'll work hard to make sure it doesn't happen again. A correction...

Karen gets results! A little more on the boo-a-rama, from a reporter on the scene ... "Karen Hughes went totally apesh-t at the AP when that dispatch hit the wire. She stormed up the bleachers and starting screaming at the AP writer (who took it in stride). "They didn't boo! Were you and I in the same rally! What is this crap?" or something along those lines (it was loud in there). The AP writer then canvassed his colleagues, who all said they hadn't heard any boos. Say what you want about McClellan ("dreadful briefer," "talking points only"), I don't...

As Eli Manning should now know, just by experiencing the entire country's reaction to Tillman's selfless act, it will be difficult to view Manning as anything other than a spolied selfish jock. It's going to take time for Manning to win back some of the public's support. He was booed yesterday when NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue introduced him as the top pick.Tillman's death negates any arguement defending Manning's refusal to play for the Chargers.Tillman's death helps put into proper perspective the Supreme Court ruling preventing Maurice Clarett and Mike Williams from being eligible in this draft.Tillman's death makes the comments of...

Where Oh Where Is Saddam Hussein? Many people have wondered where Saddam has been hiding. I've heard many different speculations, but never combined with his personal traits. Unforunately for him he doesn't have much of a choice. He is probably roaming from house to house every couple of hours. Every time Coalition forces raid a house he loses another place to hide. One by one he has fewer places to hide. If Saddam had a choice I'm sure he would find a place where he could get women, boos, drugs, money, and shelter. He's probably roaming with at least 5 to 10 other...

Last night I went to Willie Nelson's 70th b-day celebration at the Beacon Theatre. The show was really great - Norah Jones, Eric Clapton, Ray Charles, Kris Kristofferson, etc. performed. There were also announcers/presenters such as Robert DeNiro, Ethan Hawke, Whoopi Goldberg and Ali McGraw. However, the showstopper was when the MC announced the name William Jefferson Clinton.........OHHHH my.... the crowd went wild with a mixture of applause and boo-ings(is that a word). It was really bad, almost too much. He could hardly get a word in above the jeers from the crowd. I was going to call you just...

Did ABC censor a crowd’s disapproval of George H. Bush? The former president — and father of the current president — delivered a taped message at the American Music Awards on Monday night, and sources who were there tell The Scoop that the crowd booed him. WHEN THE BAND Alabama received the Award of Merit, the elder Bush’s face appeared on screen. “I’m very proud to be part of tonight’s tribute honoring one of the most highly successful bands country music has ever known,” said the former president, but his image was met with a loud chorus of boos. One...
