  • Border Patrol Training Videos Say to "Hide", "Run Away" in Active Shooter Situations

The National Border Patrol Council Local 2544 in Tucson, Ariz., is just a little angry. Local 2544, which is the largest Border Patrol union local with over 3,300 dues-paying members, tags itself as "the real border security experts". What are they angry about? Apparently, the current administration's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) senior officials have created what agents call "virtual brainwashing videos". Their website states that Border Patrol agents have been forced to take a virtual learning course on "active shooters" where the bottom line is that if they encounter an active shooter, as in Fort Hood, the Giffords shooting,...

by John HillStand With Arizona The border is “safer than ever”. So says DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano. Again and again. Barack Obama has mocked those who say the border is unsafe: “Maybe they’ll need a moat. Maybe they’ll want alligators in the moat. They’ll never be satisfied.” But for Texans, the Rio Grande is wide open - thanks to Federal failure to secure it  - and is a growing threat to the safety of citizens and law enforcement, on land and water. In January we chronicled how ranchers in the Rio Grande Valley were stocking up on AK-47s to defend their property and lives...

The Obama administration is moving to shut down nine Border Patrol stations across four states, triggering a backlash from local law enforcement, members of Congress and Border Patrol agents themselves. * * * [One] soon-to-be-shuttered station in Amarillo, Texas, is right in the middle of the I-40 corridor; another in Riverside, Calif., is outside Los AngelesU.S. Customs and Border Protection says it's closing the stations in order to reassign agents to high-priority areas closer to the border. * * *

SAN ANTONIO—U.S. Border Patrol agents opened fire Saturday along the Rio Grande on the Texas-Mexico border after being pelted by rocks and having a gunman point a weapon in their direction on the Mexican side of the river, an agency spokesman said. Spokesman Henry Mendiola said no Border Patrol agents were injured in the incident Saturday near Brownsville. He did not know if anyone else was hurt. He said the Mexican government had been notified and was responding to the area. The FBI also was investigating. The Border Patrol released little details about the morning gunfire, including what the suspects...

On more than 10,000 acres of drained swampland in western New York, Maureen Torrey’s family farm grows an assortment of vegetables in the dark, nutrient-rich soil known as “Elba muck.” Like other farms in the area, Torrey Farms Inc. of Elba, N.Y., depends on seasonal labor, mainly undocumented field hands from Mexico, to pick, package and ship its cabbage, cucumbers, squash, green beans and onions throughout the nation. With the peak harvest season at hand, Torrey’s concerns about a labor shortage are growing. A crackdown on illegal immigration, more job opportunities in Mexico and rising fees charged by smugglers are...

The number of IDF lookouts on the border with Egypt has been doubled in recent months, according to outgoing Field Intelligence Corps, Brig. Gen. Eli Pollack. "The resources available to us, such as radar and UAVs, have been multiplied several times over," said Brig. Gen. Pollack. "There is a lot of activity on the border, which has resulted in prevention of several attacks along with a reduction in the number of penetrations. Within a year not only will there be a fence – nothing will happen along the Sinai border without us knowing about it," he predicted. "This year, in...
  • Indiana sends Congress tab for illegal immigration

    07/01/2012 6:34:25 AM PDT · by Oldeconomybuyer · 19 replies
Indiana's budget director calculates illegal immigrants have cost Indiana $130.9 million. Budget Director Adam Horst sent Congress a bill for the amount Friday as required under Indiana's illegal immigration law passed last year by the General Assembly. Congress is not expected to act on the request, however. Indiana's law was modeled on the 2010 Arizona illegal immigration bill whose key provisions were struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday. Horst estimated $110.6 million of the state's illegal immigrant costs have been for K-12 education. He estimated prison costs at $12.3 million and welfare costs at nearly $8 million.

Border Patrol agents in Arizona are blasting their bosses for telling them, along with all other Department of Homeland Security employees, to run and hide if they encounter an "active shooter." It's one thing to tell civilian employees to cower under a desk if a gunman starts spraying fire in a confined area, say members of Tucson Local 2544/National Border Patrol Council, but to give armed law enforcement professionals the same advice is downright insulting. The instructions from DHS come in the form of pamphlets and a mandatory computer tutorial. “We are now taught in an ‘Active Shooter’ course that...

Just thinking out loud.... If Brian Terry had been a black man: - Would the MSM have ignored his murder? - Would the Congressional Black Caucus have walked out on the Contempt of Congress vote? - Would Holder have swept it into the DOJ dustbin and refused to give his family closure? - Would Obama have seen his 'brother' in Brian's face? - Would Carney have forgotten his name?

BISBEE — For the fifth year, American Border Patrol, a non-governmental border watch group, plans to place several thousand flags spelling the words “Save the United States” on a billboard just feet north of the U.S.-Mexico border to commemorate Independence Day. The new billboard will join one erected last year that used 10,000 flags to spell out “Secure the Border,” said Glenn Spencer, president of American Border Patrol. The group will hold a special “flag raising” rally on June 30 at its border ranch in Palominas to place the flags on the border billboard. Chartered buses will bring people to...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHERIFF JOE! Arpaio is 80 today, and if it's true that "80 is the new 60" then Joe is far outperforming most 60 year olds as well. Sheriff Joe's department captures an astounding 25% of ALL illegal aliens apprehended in the U.S. every year - 80% of whom are caught heading to states OTHER than AZ. So not only is Joe keeping alien criminals off AZ streets, but also off of streets near YOU. Joe is the biggest symbol we've got in the war against illegal immigration, and now against a corrupt Attorney General and administration trying to...

SNIP But federal law enforcement agents on the border are skeptical that the illegal immigrant tide is slowing. And new information from the U.S. financial sector shows that more money is flowing from American cities to Mexico in the form of remittances from immigrants than last year. Federal law enforcement officials interviewed by The Washington Examiner say security is being compromised as the government seeks to keep a lid on the border as a campaign issue during the presidential election cycle. Department of Homeland Security's Border Patrol agents and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers are being told not to make...

by John HillStand With Arizona Thank you, Granite State! The New Hampshire Senate yesterday joined the House in passing a resolution (full text below) proclaiming that "the state of New Hampshire fully supports the State of Arizona’s right to protect its borders and citizens" by passing its immigration law S.B. 1070. The resolution's path to passage was very contentious, with opponents testifying hysterically against it in both chambers, and Democrats trying all manner of procedural gimmicks to try and derail it - all in vain. House Concurrent Resolution 2 (HCR2) passed the Senate 15-9 last evening after slapping down an...

Police found the dismembered, decapitated bodies of 15 people in two abandoned vehicles in western Mexico Wednesday in an apparent revenge killing between powerful drug gangs. Police initially counted 12 bodies dumped in the car on a road between Mexico's second city of Guadalajara and the lakeside city of Chapala, known for its North American expatriate community. An anonymous call alerted police to the abandoned vehicles, and the bodies were taken to forensic services in Guadalajara, a police official said. Jalisco state attorney general Tomas Coronado Olmos called an urgent meeting with the state governor and said the killings appeared...

TULTITLAN, Mexico — The travelers, with bloodshot eyes and sleep-wrinkled clothes, press around a man with a map of Mexico taped to the wall. He speaks, and his finger traces various routes north to the border. All roads lead to trouble. Up here, kidnappers and drug killers. Over there, Mexican army checkpoints. Farther along, a giant desert, with poisonous snakes and deadly heat. They are migrants, almost all from Central America, and they have endured much to reach this place, a church-run shelter about an hour's drive north of Mexico City. And they will endure more. At least 23 people have been killed in gruesome circumstances in the Mexican city of Nuevo Laredo, on the US border. Nine bodies with signs of torture were found hanging from a bridge. Hours later, 14 decapitated bodies were discovered in a vehicle, police said. Their heads were found in ice boxes dumped outside the mayor's office. Nuevo Laredo is the scene of a feud between two of Mexico's biggest drugs gangs, who are fighting for control of smuggling routes into the US. A message left with the hanged bodies said they were members of the Gulf drugs cartel who...
