The Boston Museum of Fine Arts is being called "racist" after it encouraged visitors to dress in a kimono to celebrate Claude Monet's 1876 painting "La Japonaise." The painting contains a woman dressed in a kimono: A group called "Stand Against Yellow-Face @ the MFA" has planned a protest for tomorrow at six o'clock. According to Stand Against Yellow-Face, "There is no education from curators or staff on the painting itself, nor the "orientalism" that was ocurring [sic] at the time, nor is there any sort of education on the kimono itself. "The act of non-Japanese museum staff throwing these...

BOSTON — Now that it is July, it is easy to think of Boston’s record snowfall last winter as a bad dream. These days, you can walk outside without dressing in multiple layers. You can see your car when you stand next to it. Even the subway is running (more or less). But if you want a reality check, come to the Seaport district, where you will find an astonishing residual artifact from the glory days of February: a 12-foot-high frozen mound, a remnant of the record 110.6 inches of snow that accumulated in Boston over the winter. Yes, some...

A man in his mid-20s was fatally shot late Saturday night in Dorchester, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said in an interview. At 10:50 p.m. on Holborn Street, a car was seen firing shots before it fled, Evans told reporters on the scene. The man, whose name was not released, died at the scene. A second man had his arm “grazed,” Evans said, and he was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

A brazen 4 a.m. anti-Olympics protest by Black Lives Matter activists outside Mayor Martin J. Walsh’s Dorchester home has City Hall officials mulling beefed-up security as the demonstrators vow to continue their battle in the escalating standoff over the Summer Games bid. “I think it’s always a concern when there’s a certain line that is crossed, when there is something outside his house. As of now, we’re just kind of assessing if and what kind of security measures we take to make sure the mayor is safe,” a Walsh administration source told the Herald. “The mayor does not at all...

Backers of Boston 2024 ought to make buying the Boston Globe building a part of their latest plan to win the Olympic Summer Games for Boston. Purchase of the Morrissey Boulevard building in Dorchester, which is up for sale, would allow the leaders of Boston 2024 to use the centrally located facility as its official, rather than its assumed, Olympic headquarters

On March 30, a major Harvard-affiliated hospital in Boston, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), expelled a well-respected urologist from its medical staff because he voiced concerns about the unhealthy nature of homosexual behavior and objected to the hospital’s aggressive promotion of “gay pride” activities. Dr. Paul Church has been a urologist on the BIDMC staff in Boston for nearly 30 years. He is a member of the Harvard Medical School faculty. He has done research on diagnosing prostate and bladder cancer, and has been a frequent volunteer for medical mission projects in Mexico and Africa. He has also spoken...

We knew it was a matter of when, not if, we’d be hit again by Islamist terrorists on our own soil. Just last Sunday, two ISIS-sympathizing terrorists, clad in body armor and wielding assault rifles, attacked a Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest in Garland, Texas. Luckily, they were killed before they could slaughter the people attending the event. Now U.S. military bases and installations are stepping up security, as FBI Director James Comey is warning that there are “hundreds, maybe thousands” of people across the country who are being recruited by ISIS with orders to attack the U.S. Security...

Kentucky U.S. Sen. Rand Paul needs to Etch A Sketch his political strategy pronto. Anyone who thinks that trash-talking your own party will win over voters in a very crowded presidential field needs to be sent packing. Paul has given media interviews saying the GOP brand “sucks.” And in a thinly veiled slap at his fellow Senate Republicans, he has said, “These barnacled enablers have never met a war they didn’t like.” If that’s not bad enough, he’s now blaming the hawks in his party for ISIS. Never mind 9/11 and all the Democrats who voted for the War in...

Parenthetically, the idea of an “antiterror” expert should itself draw our ire, given that terror is a tactic, not the name of an ideologically-driven enemy. After all, during the Second World War we didn’t call upon anti-Blitzkrieg experts to define our enemies. We understood and were able to articulate that we were at war with a foe, not a fighting method. Meanwhile, today there is nary a mention of Islamic religious tenets like jihad, abrogation and taqqiya, nor a discussion of Islam’s ultimate goal to create a global Ummah under which all submit to Shariah law. This is not an...

A marked Boston police cruiser arrives to the scene as Rahim walks into the parking lot surrounded by several officers, the video shows. Officers appear to have their guns holstered before drawing them as they back up from Rahim. After a few moments, Rahim then drops to...

Seth Moulton had earned two medals in Iraq for his valor. He’d witnessed brutal combat in four tours with the Marines. But none of that mattered when he showed up at the Veterans Health Administration hospital in Washington, D.C., where staff could not find records. “We’ll consider taking you as a humanitarian case,” a hospital staffer told Moulton, unaware that the would-be hernia patient was also a newly elected Massachusetts congressman. Thus began Moulton’s frustrating experience with the Veterans Affairs health system, a personal sampling of a chronically troubled medical bureaucracy that has drawn complaints from veterans, demands for improvements...
