One year ago this month, I opined about taxpayers footing the bill for several college football bowl games. Today, I decided to revisit the college football bowl scene and find out who's sponsoring this year's post-season gridiron clashes.

I was checking the latest BCS poll and I noticed all the matchups involve top 10 teams. I wonder if this is the first time this has happned. Usually a "less deserving" team gets in because of the automatic conference entry, a la ACC or Big East, or Notre Dame or a bowl game will pick a team with a bigger draw. After losing big in the Sugar Bowl, the University of Hawaii may be dealing with a much more important loss. June Jones, who has been the Warriors' coach since 1999, has resigned, according to a report by The Honolulu Advertiser. The report says that Jones told his close friend, Al Souza, of his decision Saturday morning. SAN DIEGO -- The berth in the Holiday Bowl began as a harsh reality for the Oregon Ducks, who had hoped to play in a Bowl Championship Series game. On Tuesday, the bowl offered a different kind of reality check when the Ducks and the Oklahoma Sooners were invited aboard the USS Nimitz, a 97,000-ton, nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. All of the players seemed to enjoy touring the ship at Coronado Island.
