Come on Man, listen to what you are saying. If you are any way familiar with the military, you should know that yes, it is a big deal to know who is the commander of the state. Please don't minimize the importance because Palin abdicated her authority. I'm an Air Force retiree and yes, we do scramble jets from Alaska, and it would be useful to know that the commander didn't abdicate their command. Palin is not ready to command!

Incompetence of the McCain team handling her rollout:

If you want to debate, then get your facts straight. Palin announced her resignation. which began the transfer of power, to Sean Parnell, over a period of 4 weeks. If McCain had become President, then Alaska would have gone through the same process. She abdicated her command authority to Lt. Governor Sean Parnell. There was no dereliction of duty and the Alaska National Guard couldn't give a rats ass.

Funny. I saw that press conference and saw a able woman step aside to free family and the state from the constant attacks. She didn’t run away from any fight. She’s just attacking from a different direction. She didn’t leave the troops. She left them in the equally capable hands of the LG.

I don’t know of anyone who ever joined the NG because of who the governor was. I don’t know how resigning the post hurts the troops in any way.

If you can explain why you think it does, I’d appreciate it. If you can’t, I will just have to assume that you just don’t like her and want to hurt her.

The best thing I've heard lately as advice for the GOP, is say what you mean, and mean what you say, and stick by it.

People are sick and tired of politicians saying this and doing that...with Obama's pledge of transparency on health care reform (the CSPAN thing) being the most recent and glaring example.

The second best thing for the GOP to do is pledge to never take earmarks...and don't take them.

She was going bankrupt because the loopholes allowed for anybody to sue or make an ethic complaint thereby the one being accused had to pay for their defense/lawyer , Her and her husband combine.....We just found out that her staff was being sued and had to pay fro their own lawyers......also there was no legal recourse to counter sue an accuser or stopped them from filing away more false ethic charges...We SHOWED THAT!!

Sarah Palin is the only one capable of restoring our nation. I thank God for her every day. Imagine where we would be right now if there was no Sarah Palin.

Ask the Alaskan National Guard. Not only did Palin "Cut & Run", she held a press conference to announce it. Why can't you Palin worshipers at least acknowledge what she did? See that's what gets to a lot of us vets. Palin willfully abdicated her command authority over US forces under her command, yet FReepers praise her. When I served her actions would at best be labeled dereliction of duty. So, no not only do I believe Palin is unfit for command, I believe she never was!

Isn't she wonderful? Her strength is amazing. Her attitude is impressive and her core beliefs are a genuine part of who she is. I don't believe Sarah tolerates lies very well.

When I met her at the Noblesville booksigning in Indy, I mentioned to her that I was praying for her and that I believed her movement to the center political stage was a blessing for America from God.

I believe this, completely.

Where have you been? Durihng W's presidency us FReepers not only delighted, we felt it our personal duty to, "rightfully" label all pols who resigned on their constituents as quitters. Hell, they earned it!

Sarah stands up for her beliefs. She did it as Alaska governor and she continues to stand up for the things she believes in. I’m sure she agrees with most conservatives who support her on Free Republic. Is she really?Does she disagree with Cheney on gay marriage? If so so why not proclaim it as loudly as her reason for not attending CPAC, this year? Was Palin opposed to CPAC last year when Rush spoke? I'm not being overly critical but Palin does deserve the same scrutiny as other pols. For instance, has Palin publicly spoke against gay marriage which Cheney supports? Has Palin addressed our military's major criticism against her, that being labeled a cut & run quitter"? As a proud American vet I can assure you that the only thing more reprehensible than a quitter, is a quitter who holds a press conference attempting to explain why they abandoned their troops. As a party we need more than a pretty woman with nice legs and a facebook account. We need a proven American warrior.

A few years ago Keens twisted his own rating system in knots so senior Amnesty Mel Martinez could “earn” a 100% ACU rating and Keene and W could “fool” us into believing Mel was a conservative. He was a disaster and his failure is on Keene’s hands.

This is my thin reason for believing Sarah Palin FReeps:

A casual acquaintance told me that after voting Republican her entire adult life she had just early-voted for Obama. I was stunned because: (a) I had always assumed she was a Democrat because, sadly, most people I know are and (b) how can anyone who voted for Reagan, vote for Obama?

“WHY!” I asked.

“I think we need Change.”

“What do you know about Obama? What about his close association with William Ayers? Jeremiah Wright? Most liberal Senator status? No records whatsoever from his past?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I just think we need Change.”

“Well then, you’ve got to start getting your news from other sources.”

At this point, I had offended her.

She asked where I got my news. I fumbled. I get my news here and I was hesitant to say so. She wouldn’t understand... I’d be misunderstood... It’s tricky.

I’m sure I had the same expression Palin wore when that insipid excuse for a human being, Katie Couric, asked her what newspapers she reads.

And that’s when I understood what may have happened in the interview and that Sarah Palin might come to vital, vibrant, honest FreeRepublic for her news.
