    11/02/2012 9:02:00 PM PDT · by Arthurio · 47 replies
BY MARC CAPUTO MCAPUTO@MIAMIHERALD.COM Mitt Romney has maintained a solid lead over President Barack Obama in the latest Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald poll of likely voters who favor the Republican by six percentage points. Romney’s strengths: independent voters and more crossover support from Democrats relative to the Republicans who back Obama, according to the survey conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research. Romney’s crossover appeal is fueled by strong support in rural North Florida, a conservative bastion where a relatively high percentage of Democrats often vote Republican in presidential election years. “I’m pretty convinced Romney’s going to win Florida,” said Mason-Dixon...

This photograph is actually a video still captured from an Al Jazeera video of the amazing scene at the U.S. Benghazi Consulate compound sometime before 11:30 pm. Four additional captioned photos can be found at my Flickr page below. This is the first in a series of photos I will be posting over the weekend along with some new video. In each instance it is my goal to present information that the U.S. news media has by and large failed to present to the American public. Most of the video and video still images were obtained from Middle Eastern sources....

The number of people casting ballots at early-voting places has now exceeded 2 million in North Carolina. The State Board of Elections reported late Thursday afternoon that in-person early-voting had surpassed the mark. More than 2.2 million votes have been cast when traditional absentee ballots and those living or stationed overseas are added. In 2008, more than 2.4 million people voted early in person and 2.6 million when all non-Election Day voting was counted - both records. In-person early voting began Oct. 18 and ends Saturday afternoon. Mail-in absentee ballots must be turned in to local elections boards by Monday...
  • Republicans ahead of Dems in Colorado early voting, Obama surrogates still confident

Data released today from the Secretary of State's office shows that in Colorado's early voting period, more Republicans have cast ballots than Democrats. The GOP says there's no getting around the numbers -- the facts show they will take Colorado. But Obama's surrogates here have a different spin: The state will still go blue, but it will be closer than 2008.

  • WaPo-ABC tracking poll: Most see U.S. on ‘wrong track,’ can Obama win? (R retakes lead, 49-48!)

    11/02/2012 2:16:55 PM PDT · by Arthurio · 15 replies
Most likely voters see the country as seriously offtrack; barely half say the president is doing a good job; and the challenger’s supporters rival the incumbent’s when it comes to being “fired up,” making for a precarious situation for President Obama as the election nears. But it is no sure thing for Republican Mitt Romney, either, according to the latest release of the Washington Post-ABC News tracking poll. In the new survey, 49 percent back Romney, and 48 percent Obama, marking the eighth consecutive day with both candidates at either 48 or 49 percent. The poll’s margin of sampling error...

CBS News has learned that during the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi, the Obama Administration did not convene its top interagency counterterrorism resource: the Counterterrorism Security Group, (CSG). "The CSG is the one group that's supposed to know what resources every agency has. They know of multiple options and have the ability to coordinate counterterrorism assets across all the agencies," a high-ranking government official told CBS News. "They were not allowed to do their job. They were not called upon."
