WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. — A Brevard County man blasted away with an assault rifle at a SWAT robot while wearing nothing but his birthday suit. The suspect's dog was the only onlooker as the robot approached the door at the West Melbourne home on Del Mar Circle. Authorities said a man with several guns was suicidal and threatening authorities. "He said he'd shoot anyone he could," said Lt. Bruce Barnett with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. Instead of risking any lives, deputies sent the $65,000 robot into the home. The robot has cameras, which record all of its actions. The...

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- The debate over health care reform got rowdy again Tuesday, this time in Brevard County. The legislation in front of Congress right now has led to a lot of angry debates across the country. Tuesday, the AARP tried to answer questions from some angry residents there. They all came here to be heard and, with no other public forum offered by congressional leaders in Brevard County, they turned to the AARP to demand answers. "Why wouldn't AARP insist the government fix Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security before we discuss anything?" one attendee asked. More than...

MELBOURNE, Florida (Reuters) - Republican Rudy Giuliani, who regularly touts his leadership of New York City during the September 11 attacks, saw his plan to jump-start his presidential campaign tripped up by a bomb threat in Florida on Wednesday. The threat threw off his schedule and reduced the turnout for the former New York mayor's speech in Melbourne from what his campaign manager Bill McCollum said was initially expected to be "several hundred" people to about 50. The anonymous threat was called into the headquarters of communications equipment maker Harris Corp at about the same time Giuliani's plane landed at...

(pics on the thread) [...]The president was finishing his speech, and Sarah tells me, "I need some water. I'm blacking out." We had spent four hours standing in the sun, and despite her regularly drinking the water that was passed out throughout the event, the sun took its toll. Sarah was wedged into a narrow angle where two fences meet, and the place was packed. Now that the president was leaving the stage, the people handing out the water were gone. I felt kind of useless as a husband. There was no room to sit her down. There was no...

A few days ago my daughter related how she took my ten-year-old Grandson to the Eau Gallie, FL (near Melbourne) public library to check out some books. She turned him loose in the kids' section while she looked for some books for herself. A while later, they each took their stack of books to the counter, checked them out, and went home. My daughter didn't inspect his choices any farther than the covers - big mistake. This is one of the books he chose (cool cover, right?): Gunsmith Cats: Bonnie & Clyde by Kenichi Sonoda Published by Dark Horse Comics"Meet...
