The San Diego City Council will vote next Tuesday to declare July 8 “National Council of La Raza Day.” Well, they already gave their blessing to “Happy ACLU Day” despite the litigious group’s long-standing efforts to take down the Mount Soledad cross. Might as well put their weight behind the ethnic supremacist group fighting against assimilation, funding reconquista schools, advocating speech suppressiong, and promoting lawlessness, too!
  • Bill Richardson Pissed That Spanish Debate Was In English

I wish I were kidding, but I'm not. WaPo: "And I do want to say at this point that I was under the impression that in this debate Spanish was going to be permitted because I've always supported Univision all my career, but I'm disappointed today that 43 million Latinos in this country, for them not to hear one of their own speak Spanish -- (applause) -- is unfortunate," Richardson said. "In other words, Univision has promoted English only in this debate."

A few months back, a beautiful, 22-year old American woman named Rachel Smith made the finals in the Miss Universe contest in Mexico City. Her interview was interrupted by a wave of catcalls from the mostly Mexican audience. She had been subjected to similar treatment throughout the entire week. In 1999, Miss USA Kenya Moore received similar treatment. Our Olympic and international soccer teams also endure booing during our national anthem along with chants of Osama! Osama! Sometimes taunts are punctuated by bags of urine being thrown at American athletes. Are these isolated incidents at odds with what Democrat Mexican-American...

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Sen. Barack Obama told the nation's largest Hispanic advocacy group yesterday that he earned their support for his presidential campaign by marching in last year's May 1 immigrant rallies and challenged them to learn whether others met that standard. "Find out how many senators appeared before an immigration rally last year. Who was talking the talk, and who walked the walk — because I walked," Mr. Obama said at the National Council of La Raza's annual convention in Miami Beach... " The Illinois Democrat said the recent Senate immigration debate "was both ugly and racist in...

A group of 100 people protesting undocumented workers squared off against supporters of these workers in South Los Angeles on Saturday, shouting epithets across the street at each other while hundreds of police stood guard in the middle.

Hablas Espanol? Jessica Alba doesn’t. Is there anything wrong with that? Apparently so. The third-generation American and actress is under fire this week from fellow Latinos for comments she made to Para Todos magazine: Alba is my last name and I'm proud of that. But that's it. My grandparents were born in California, the same as my parents, and though I may be proud of my last name, I'm American. Throughout my whole life, I've never felt connected to one particular race or heritage, nor did I feel accepted by any. If you break it down, I'm less Latina than...

All of the Republican presidential contenders have turned down an invitation to speak in Orlando to the nation's largest gathering of Hispanic elected officials, at a time when their constituents are poised to be a powerful force in the 2008 election. Making the GOP field's absence particularly conspicuous, all of the leading Democratic candidates are planning to address NALEO, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, on June 30. The Republicans were asked to participate in a forum the previous day. About 1,000 Hispanic leaders, representing the fastest-growing part of the electorate, are expected at the conference. Hispanic...

A recent proposal in Congress — H.R. 1999, which was cosponsored in April by Reps. Ruben Hinojosa of Texas and Rick Renzi of Arizona — would provide $10 million a year to a radical immigration group, the National Council of La Raza (meaning "the race"). It gets better. Have you heard of Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, better known by its acronym MEChA? If you live in California, you have. This group's Web site states: "We are Chicanos and Chicanas of Aztlan reclaiming the land of out birth," which according to their revisionist history, includes areas of the Southwestern United...
