Sandpoint is nice - a beautiful place on account of all you mentioned and more, except there are too many libs there (my former stepfather, his “wife”, two sons from his earliest marriage...)even for an expatriate Portlander like me, who only escaped the people’s socialist republic of Porn-land...

I’m a couple of hours S of you, at the confluence of the Snake and the Clearwater rivers, in the Lewiston-Clarkston valley. The scenery is not quite a match with my ideals, but I’ll take the “trade-off” of lots of nice conservative neighbors, a major bullet manufactory within 2 miles of my back door, over half the nation’s soft white winter wheat and lentils produced within a 100 mile radius, and heavily wooded areas that are less than an hour’s drive away...Not to mention Chinook, Steelhead, and Sturgeon fishing half a mile away...

I think for myself, and scrutinize the world around me...I’m not laughing, I don’t give a runny crap what the majority thinks, and the lefties are not, and never have been, my friends!

Go ahead and posture yourself as looking “for the facts”...just be ready to admit that as concerns this topic and its pursuit, you can’t polish a turd, or pick it up from the clean end.

Remember, the birther controversy ORIGINATED with the left wing partisans...emanating from Hitlery and her supporters - which unlike a lot of other contentions, is provable.

Roll very far into this terrain, and the stink will not soon be removed...

Palin and Pence...yeah - that would be good!

In dreamland, after seating such a cabinet, President Palin would, in her first month in office, withdraw the US from the UN, cancel the UN’s lease on their NYC digs, fire all American UN employees, revoke the diplomatic credentials of all foreign UN reps, cancel all UN-designated US taxpayer funds and terminate all UN programs operating in the USA.

The next day, she would suspend the operations and order an audit of, the Federal Reserve, meanwhile placing the US imnmediately on the silver standard as an interim step to restoration of the gold standard...followed by simultaneous audits of Fannie and Freddie...

Thune, Romney, Bush, and Huckabee can be fundraisers..They aren’t good for anything higher than that. Pawlenty is a question mark to me.

Of the other eight - three look like they belong on the short list for Pres/VP (Palin, Pence, and Daniels - in that order), and those who don’t make the cut would make first rate cabinet secretaries.

Petraeus for SecDef, Bolton for SecState, Perry for SecTrans., Cain or Barbour for Commerce (pick one - the other goes for SecAgr.)

I know it would leave a few of the posts unfilled - that’s okay -put DeMint and Coburn somewhere, and just abolish the remainder of the departments (like education, labor, interior...) by defunding or not filling those slots

    Just my scattered thoughts...

Harriet not only knew in advance - she consented.

Kool-Ade in this case involves swallowing the dominant media-promoted paradigm - which is, that Bush ever intended that she be confirmed as a SCOTUS appointee.

That one is for people who neither think for themselves, nor have well-placed political contacts. I think outside of the box, and ask questions of those I know have answers.

Like I said, I have been assured by someone well-positioned to know that it was exactly such - a deliberate, preplanned feint in every respect - including advance consent of Meiers, and the fact that the vetting of now-Chief Justice Roberts was already well underway...None of what happened in that scenario was accidental. The Bush team knew the tendencies of the loony lib left cold - and played them against themselves - in full view of a salivating media machine.

    AmericanArchConservative to All

I fail to see in all of this why people are getting excessively worked up over a comparative statement issued by a rabbinical council with no particular governing/determining authority...

I do not argue against the Gog/Magog prophecies, nor those biblical prophecies which are clearly and demonstrably related...but the rabbinical council did NOT surmise that this WAS a fulfillment, nor even the beginning of a fulfillment of any portion of any of those prophecies.

They made a comparative finding, stating that “this LOOKS LIKE” the Gog and Magog prophetic utterances.

The anti/non-jews and anti/non-Christians need to trim in their waste-of-breath criticisms, and the hyperventilating believers need to put away the winged shoes for the time being...

While remaining attentive and decidedly vigilant.

I believe the prophetic clock is ticking, and certainly has been since Christ ascended into heaven, it has been ticking louder and with renewed urgency and purpose since the re-formation of the state of Israel, but...

it is the Lord’s clock, figuratively speaking, not ours.

It is within His will and keeping to advance it apace, to constrain its progress, or accelerate it with sudden and sure intent.

IMHO, there are still extremely key pieces of the final “puzzle” which are out of place or lacking altogether. Not simply pieces which are present but that we do not notice - no, important elements that are absent. I cannot put my finger on all of them, but that said, it takes little imagination to believe they could fall upon this world with terrible speed, and bring woe upon the unprepared.

There ARE too many things IN place to be ignored, discounted, or minimized by believing people possessed of common sense.

It will happen soon enough, but for now, there is no reason to run up the credit cards, or give away one’s worldly assets and go stand on a high hill.

I would implore all who criticize him to clearly remember part of his legacy: never mind his “Harriet Meiers feint” (a consummate insider assures me it was such)

...George W Bush gave us TWO of the most rock-ribbed and reliable conservative constitutional adherents on the Supreme Court of the United States...

Chief Justice John Roberts, and Associate Justice, Samuel Alito. On balance, our nation gained immensely, as Reagan appointee Sandra Day-O’Connor was never better than a swing vote.

Recall the Chelo v. New London property rights case and reflect that this 5 - 4 margin is probably ALL that stands between our nation and a political/moral ABYSS of truly biblical proportions for right now.

If the margin was tilted 5 - 4 in the other direction, what WOULDN’T the socialist-progressive attempt, knowing they could rely on the international law/case-law based imprimatur of a Constitutional revisionist SCOTUS for the better part of a generation.

Close your eyes for a moment and indulge a nightmare...imagine another Sotomayor on the court as Chief, instead of Roberts, and another Bader-Ginsburg, Souter, or Kagan instead of Alito.

That’s what we would have gotten with AlGore or John eFfin’ sKerry, and we would be well and truly screwed as a nation

not that things aren’t difficult enough as we face them right now, but seriously...imagine the horror were we unprotected by SCOTUS.

In fact, if the health care insurance reform legislation countersuits make their way to the Supreme Court’s docket, Obama may come to severely regret his moment of abysmal and demeaning hubris in tauntingly criticizing the SCOTUS decision during the State of the Union address, with the court members seated in the congressional audience.

The Conservative members may make the most of such an opportunity to stick it to zer0bama, saying in effect, “Up yours, buddy - this is NOT Constitutional - not under the commerce clause, or any other we find...”

Arrange an on-videocamera interview of your daughter to be conducted with your family attorney present (and perhaps even conducting the interview) as a form of a video deposition.

Make sure that a wide array of questions from a wide variety of perspectives are asked, to leave no room for doubt that she neither said, nor did anything to provoke such venomous and threatening words or violence

This may protect your daughter in the long run and prevent her from being browbeaten by other people with distinctly unfriendly agendas, and intentions of making her out to be the instigator rather than the innocent subject of someone else’s malice (such shills will come out of the woodwork at the first hint of a confrontation like this, IMHO)

    AmericanArchConservative to usurper

Several years back, George W. Bush came to Portland to speak at the University of Portland (an ostensibly Catholic campus).

The number of protestors there was pretty significant - probably 3K to 7K - and there was a faction there which I recognized from many encounters before as the usual cast of vandals and front-line rabble-rousers.

I was seated in a lawn chair, holding an American flag and a counterprotest (pro-Bush) sign, and having a spirited debate with a couple of them, knocking their feeble arguments down one after another, and finally succeeded in provoking their true, hate-filled anti-Bush, anti-capitalism, anti American rhetoric, and eagerly hoping they might totally lose their cool and lash out. They started to react and I handed my sign and flag to a lady next to me, and stood up out of my chair. It was at that point, I think they suddenly figured out I was 6’4 and not exactly a scrawny beanpole, and took a couple of obvious steps back.

I hollered a few choice comments after them as they retreated, and it was just them that a few PPB riot cops came by - big smiles on their faces, having seen and heard all. One commented “Wanna join us, we could use the extra help, and you might have a little fun?!” Gesturing at their helmets, batons and plexi riot shields I popped off, “If you have an extra set of gear, I’d love to!”

They all looked at one another, looked over at their personnel transport and looked back at me - still smiling, and then one finally said “well - really we can’t...buuuut...”

Then their radios crackled and they took off at a trot.

But I know they were thinking hard about it...LOL! Ohhhh, I would have loved to crack a baton on some socialist-hippie skulls...!

Forum, shmorum - I know two of the cops, and two people from the hood who were eyewitnesses...

Public forums - especially in a community as full of [paid] professional agitators as Portland is - are worthless or nearly so.

You simply have an axe to grind - either with police in general, or the PDX police in particular - and seem unwilling to own up to your bias and the skewed, nearly baseless conclusions which are an outgrowth of it.

Calling something a fact and wishing (out of spite or whatever) that it were so - just doesn’t cut it. You ought to know that any human being’s story of an event that occurred quickly and under duress will naturally have variances which may not seem consistent with physical evidence.

Eyewitnesses have “seen” things they were 100% certain of, (and passed polygraph tests to back up their truthfulness of what they believed)that physical evidence showed to be absolutely impossible - this has been shown repeatedly in police investigations of all sorts in innumerable departments. I know from whence I speak.

What you DON’T know about that case - or the Portland Police - would EVIDENTLY fill volumes. Your two ludicrous conclusions are perfect examples of that.

I have known several Portland Police officers over the years, and many county sheriff’s deputies in the Portland area (my own father was one for over 20 years)

They are all human beings, and people have shortcomings, but in general, they are a better stripe of person than the average - doing an often thankless job - especially around Portland.

Kendra James was her own worst enemy, as an irresponsible and belligerant drunk in that situation and others - so say people who knew her.

She tried to gain control of a vehicle by struggling with a uniformed police officer conducting a lawful traffic stop - the cop was half in, half out of the vehicle and she essentially pushed him out and was trying to run him over.

Perhaps she did not deserve death for her drunken and foolish decision, but it was by no means an unpredictable result under the circumstances.

My solution for that mob would have been a thorough, continuous dousing with ICE COLD water from a fire hose...
(presuming the weather to have been as cold as the gloves, parkas, and flags flapping in the wind would indicate)

Sure it’s a “low-tech” approach, but they would have soon had trouble raising wet flags, their soaked, tattered signs, and on top of that, chanting is pretty challenging through chattering teeth!

I spare no mercy for those kind of punks - I’m from Portland, and I have had several run-ins with them while leading counter-protest operations against their protests. They are all a bunch of cheap, lying, thuggish, punks with little or no individual courage. The whole lot of them could die of tuberculosis for all I care!

Governor Butch Otter of Idaho was actually the first - middle of last week signing the legislative bill into law...directing the ID Att’y Gen to sue the Federal monster to protect Idahoans from the unConstitutional mandate.

So there are Texas and 47 others that ought to follow, but probably less than 46 which will.

Oregon - (Portland and Salem primarily) bastion of wobblies, commies, anarchists and various libs - will not do so under the current regime...they might actually sue to insure retaining their place at the federal trough..

Yeah - as some may have seen by my comment on a recently posted thread, I don’t even spare the religion moderator from my caustic witticisms. But - either they knew I was right, or else my smooth sophistication went right over their head, because I was neither banned nor suspended for my sharp snark.

    I seldom spare my knives or razors when it comes to deconstructing the Smith-ite theology of lies, or its co-author(s)...I’m even less charitable with the P.hony R.eligion O.f P.eace {P.R.O.P. - phony religion, phony peace... coming to you from Arabia since 632 AD}

O’Smiley is, and has always been, about himself. He plays to audiences and shifts in public opinion, writes books about principles that I doubt he has...He is a squishy moderate, just like Michael Medved is a soft, squishy barely conservative, with all of his “we lose the battle when we call [obama et al...] Marxists, when we call them socialists...” crapola.

We’re fighting socialists, marxists, maoists, and radicalists - period. They hate our beloved republic as founded and as it continued for so long, and it is naive in the face of undeniable evidence to think that they mean no harm, and we can win the day by fighting fair and not openly attacking them and bluntly identifying their deplorably evil and wrongheaded precepts.

Lewis and Frank, Obama, Dingell, Wrangel, and Schumer, they are all so far left that the Constitutional center looks “far right” to them.

O’Reilly and Medved are nearly useless knuckleheads in my opinion...

    oh...okay - now THAT’S moderate, right there...

Wonder how one replaces even-handed (or mostly hands-off) moderating for the sort of presumptive interrogatives that are usually said to invite moderating activity in the first place?

Methinks sterling examples of “hateful mockery” occurred when one Joseph Smith articulated that:

he had learned for himself that Presbyterianism was wrong,

and when he later referred to all of Christianity, (outside of mormonism) as apostate, and being made up of “Whoredoms”.

“Mountain Meadows Massacre” was also sort of, kind of hateful, and made a mockery of native Americans, according to historical accounts of white men disguising themselves as Indians in an effort to cast blame away from themselves.

I knew this story was BS the instant I read it - saw right through it as the fraudulent, race-baiting, effort to distract the public and elicit sympathy and solidarity from amongst those who were about to vote.

Liars like this will get what they truly deserve - sooner or later!

...Except that Ishmael was the son of Hagar and Abraham, while Isaac was the son on Abraham and Sarah.

This is where the mohammadans pervert the patriarchy, claiming that G_d’s covenant and blessing were upon Ishmael, while Isaac was only the recipient of G_d’s blessing - not the other way around.

They also claim that the Lord never directed Abraham to climb the mountain and sacrifice Isaac, as well as saying that Jesus was not crucified - because G_d would have never allowed men to kill a prophet.

All of which is equally as ridiculous as claiming that the fall in the garden of Eden was actually a “Wise Choice”...
