they do make less than the private sector even after 20
    years of service,

govt employees on the PERS system in CA have high salaries and get 5-10 percent raises even in this economy. a low level fireman in the small city i live in gets 100K in salary and that was back in 1996. This is not to say all the employees do well but a significant number do. Why don’t we make them pay more out of pocket for those making over 100k?

correction: so why are we “not” asking them to contribute more for out of pocket? I am speaking as a private sector employee. I have worked with some of these service people who have been trained and they are incredibly talented people who if they had worked private sector jobs would have been paid much more. Instead they have chose to serve our country and for some serve in hopes of getting a college education which they could not afford any other way. These are decent people.

I disagree with the Health care part of it. From a common sense point of view our military service people have always been greatly underpaid so they do not have much in the way of out of pocket income. Their healthcare and other benefits are no where near what government employees (actually on all levels) are receiving. Many government employees receive incredible medical and other benefits, have greater salaries so why are we asking them to contribute more for out of pocket? They are paid more and their benefits are far better than the private sectors. While our military service employees even now are paid greatly under what is paid at the private sector level.

  • CURL: Obama supporters shocked, angry at new tax increases

    annajones to Reagan is King

That payroll tax cut was SUPPOSE to be temporary. It was put in place for 2 years so that people would have a little more money to spend. Some say to stimulate the economy. Apparently people receiving it didn’t notice otherwise they would not be complaining that it’s gone. That tax break was a very small percent.

I don’t understand why anyone who voted for Obama esp because they said he would continue the Bill Clinton years for them should complain. That means they SHOULD have accepted the Bush tax cuts to expire for everyone and phase back the Clinton tax rates. That little payroll tax break is nothing in comparison.

Fiscal Cliff included expiration of Bush tax cuts, the payroll tax cut expiring, and sequestration (automatic cuts).

The media made many believe that if we only tax those making 200K and above we would have avoided the fiscal cliff. Um that amount of revenue would only pay for 8 days of the spending they have now and yes they are spending on borrowed money, money they don’t have: a credit card so to speak. That 200K break was only to avoid the expiration of the Bush tax cuts “part” of the Fiscal Cliff. It does not and never was intended to address sequestration or the automatic cuts. Many of the MSM lied to you about that. I believe some in Congress and the President “have” agreed in the recent past to reform the tax code further to cover those making 200K or more but that this could not be done by the end of 2012. Some argue it should be 100K or more. So enjoy your tax break for 2013. Next year will be different.

The automatic cuts will happen if the current government cannot “balance” the budget. The pass 4 years they operated on “no” budget because they could not agree to one. This should be interesting to see how they are going to fix this.

Some who voted for Obama say we need to help the poor. Put your money where your mouth is then. Congress did pass a law allowing people to voluntarily pay more taxes. When Obamacare phases in citizens who previously did not have health insurance will have to buy it. Those in a lower income level will quality for Medicaid whereas before they could not. So we will have “free” healthcare for some. Hehe I just said that to be funny. Of source it’s not free. When the need for spending goes up the working class will have to pay for it.

A sad part about Obamacare is those currently working 40 hours a week will be cut to 30 hours a week so their employer would not (some could not pay) have to pay them health care benefits. The um Federal government will be able to help them with subsidies but with 30 hours a week they won’t be able to pay the rent. Nevertheless a number of them voted for this current government and wanted what they can get from it. I didn’t vote for it.

After reading that article my first thought was is that the real reason he was pulled out or is it that the school can’t handle her son? Being autistic may mean he can do well in math (which he did), but he would not be able to do well in other subjects which was the case. Pushing someone at too young in age, according to development theory, is not a good thing. Nevertheless this child may just very well be strongly mentally ill. Someone who said they were a neighbor to that family said the younger one (when initial reports said the oldest one did it) was the one likely to commit such a crime.

I wondered after reading about the shooting how that kid knew how to shoot. Later I found out it was his mother who took the kid to the target range and got them to learn how to shoot. “She” trusted her kid with guns. Neighbors who knew the family said that the younger son was likely to committ such a crime: killing lots of people. It seems she is to blame.

That is a good idea. 500K and up is fairer. It would be funny if Boehner came back with a proposal to increase taxes on “the top 2%” not “250K and up”. The top 2% would miss people like Romney but cover people like JayZ.

We should still call them on their lies. They want people to believe they are helping the deficit with increased taxes. However they plan on increased spending.

They are asking for more $$$ in bailouts. Look what happened to GM. After their bankruptcy and government takeover GM went on to lose 40% profits. The government cannot run a business. The only thing they get out of it is to guarantee $$$ and jobs to union employees who in turn must (yes by force) provide $$$ and support for the Dem Party. Thus creating a new class of elite that are NOT poor.

Why are we giving entitlements to people who are not in a period of need then?

Why must small businesses pay increased taxes if all it’s used for is increased spending?

When Bush was in office the deficit went up to 7 trillion during his 8 year term: complete with long term Iraq war, lots of troops and weapons used (far more military spending). But under Obama where he sends some aid here or there the deficit doubles to 16 trillion during his 4 year term! Yet that is not enough for them.

The whole idea of the fiscal cliff was to reduce the deficit. They need to do something about their out of control spending. The economy is just going to get worse and pumping more $$$ into it with our credit going bad means inflation, lost jobs, and a Carter economy. “We” know whose fault that is.

R/e Media pressure: it does make a difference. Conservative talk radio and news does affect how they have to report the news. Example: For awhile they we got Obama & Co. forced to report on Bengazhi (sp?). They had to because the conservative news outlets and Fox news wouldn’t let it go.

Just over $250,000 is NOT the top 2%. Consider this: Romney is a millionaire and when he released his tax return they media couldn't wait the point out that he is only in the top 3%. So how is it that $250,000 is the top 2%! The truth: it's the stop two "brackets". Consider this: 250K and over covers almost all small businesses.

Obama says he has a mandate to raise taxes. Two recent polling firms (Gallup was one) polled voters and they said they are not in favor of raising taxes and they are in favor of cutting spending.

The media is spreading the lie that we would help 98% of the people from getting taxes raised. It's a lie. It's not 98% and includes all small businesses (employers). Tax them and we have job losses. If the economy tanks even more (Obamacare alone is forcing small businesses to cut hours), the House will be blamed NOT Obama. The perception created by the media just prior to the presidential election is that Bush was responsible for the bad economy. So you can bet that if the tax rates go up on all businesses and the economy tanks even more because Dems refuse to cut spending (tax more spend more; US Treasurer says no caps on debt ceiling) it will be blamed on Congress NOT Obama!!!!

The House wants to modify the tax structure to get of loop holes that affect employees more so that small businesses. They have small businesses and jobs kept in mine.

It's the Dem's that are not willing to budge. They want the tax hike now and "claim" they will look at spending cuts later (like never; just like they always did). The tax hike is the ONLY thing Congress has as a bargaining chip. Give them what they will not do anything for Congress later.

The media wants us to believe that it's Congress who is not budging when in reality if you read what the Dems are saying they only want the hike and nothing else.

Please email your conservative news stations. We need the truth out. We should not let the media dominate the news. We should call them out and let a number of people (even on our side) know what the truth is. Trust me, some of them are still clueless and let the media rule their decisions some.

I still want to know why the deficit “doubled” to an amount greater than all his predecessors. Was it bailouts? Was it changes to entitlements? Was it giving money away to prop up third world countries? The war efforts under Obama don’t even come near to what happened durding Bush’s term so why so much money spent? Should we find out what was done and what of those items should be cut? Is it more a spending problem than a revenue problem? Our federal government should have the money and the staff to do such research or perhaps the research is already there. I think the American people have a right to know what happened. Like Obama or the current government or not depend on answers to such issues. What was the spending and was it a good decision?

The fact was that under Bush/Congress the deficit went up 43% during his 8 year term. Given we had a "real" war (complete with bombs, 9/11, and Katrina. Obama didn't have that in his first term).

Under the Obama first term Obama/Congress the deficit went up "double" what Bush did during Obamas four year term (that's "half" the time!!).

Should the solution to the deficit problem be found by examining what this administrations first term did? We now have the same President, pretty much the same Senators, and somewhat the same Congress. Obama's first two years had a democrat controlled House. Meaning the current House is only "part" of the problem. It was during this new or current Congress that they called for this Sequestration deal which Obama signed. Legislation that resulted because the deficit has run away. The problem to the deficit lies in "what" was done during those first 4 years.

I'm not convinced that Social Security spending changed it or that Defense spending changed it. It's also a fact (Panetta echos it too) that the defense spending has already been cut half a trillion. No other programs have been cut according to input I got from another member. Ref. post 20 from

    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2959146/posts

We had Obama run during his first term complaining incessantly about Bush but when it comes to spending the Bush administration was more responsible. It's also interesting to note that Obama is calling for the Bush tax cuts to be extended as if it's a good thing. So much for criticizing his predecessor.

Under Bush & Congress the Deficit increased 43% in 8 years. Under Obama & Congress the Deficity doubled that of Bush’s (86%) in 4 years. If you want to fix the probem, we need to find out “what” caused this increase and address that. Not too much has really changed under Bush vs. Obama. In fact under Bush we had 9/11, a “real” war (with bombs dropped), and a hurricance that cost much more than Sandy. Sandy doesn’t even account for the 86% increase. What did Obama and Congress spend it on? They need to look that First in order to address their fiscal problems.

Half the country voted for Obama because they believed he would insure their Social Security and entitlements they may need for things like Hurricanes and job losses.

The other half of the country voted for Romeny because we need jobs to support ourselves and our families. We are struggling.

Sadly the two are related. What pays for the entitlements? Taxes from people working or jobs.

To some extent people did not vote against Obama or against Romney. One worried about security and the other worried about having money to take care of their families. So sad.

Tho it doesn’t help that voter fraud happened, that the Hurricane hit many East side States (most of electorals e.g. CA is West). East side states that Romney needed votes from. It didn’t help that Obama pushed his people for early voteing whereas post Hurricase votes, absentees and election day votes, were suppressed (by the act of God), that military ballots did not show up until after the election, and we can go on.

Would it make sense that we lie, cheat, and steal for an election? Is having values more important than fighting a war with your opponent? I have no answers. I think things will have to become more bad (hitting rock bottom) before America decides it wants a change to the other party. Unfortunately for many of us. No jobs, no entitlements, and everyone loses.

If I believed in faith I would have loved to see somone like Romney appointed to economic development. Obama’s people do not understand the US economics and how to make things grow. That is the side that he is lacking. Yet we all want a great America. In the real world we work in it is believed that people get together, work together, and make it all happen. Such is life.

Taxing the “very” upper class (250K above includes many struggling small businesses) e.g. large corporations and Hollywood, music moguls etc would help. Bohener wants to look into fixing tax loop holes. That is equivalent without using the formerly dirty words “raising taxes”. But at the same time if government gets more money we need some insurance as to how the money should not be spent too. Money going to foreign countries to grow their economies even tho they did not ask for it (think Brazil), money for bailouts without promises to create jobs or to not lay people off (BofA got bailouts then laid off 40,000 people) should be on the table. The two parties need to make a deal with these in mind — my opinion.

OPSEC is doing a good job. I just found out about them from this site yesterday night and donated:

    http://www.opsecteam.org/new-ad/

Here is the “latest” ad from OPSEC to be aired opposite that disgusting Harvey Weistein TV movie (politcal ad) Sunday (11/4). I think it’s a good ad worth donating for. The ad references Bengazi(sp?) too. We want to insure that the undecideds understand what’s really going on despite the media blackout. Besides these Seals die for our country and the dead have a right to a voice for the truth.

I read that during a Michelle O Rally a nine year old was heard saying “if Romney wins we will have to go back to the crop fields.”

The Dems are using the race card and their preaching it to people they believe they can take advantage of with lies like these. Sad how people don’t realize that both Lincoln and Martin Luther King were Republicans.

I liked her too. I donated five hundred for McCain/Palin — alot for me — just because of her. However she did say something recently against some other candidate (I don’t remember the details now) and it totally turned me off to her. However if she running against someone as awful as Obama I will vote for her.

I suspect that too. After reading various articles I get the picture: The Ambassador begged them that he needed his security people back before August. In August they pulled out 31 people anyways. On the day he was to die the Ambassador begged them that his life was in danger. On the day of the attack CIA personel went in anyways despite the WH telling them no. After many hours they begged for help with obvious war going on in the background. The WH said no.

The WH claimed they knew nothing about security requests yet Biden admitted in the debate that they got the requests but were not told “why” they needed it. Reports indicate the WH had live video coverage of the attack which went for 7 hours and they (key people) watched it and knew all along it was a terroist attack with no demonstrations but they chose to blame it on the video and the media went with their story.

They knew what happened. It went on for 7 hours and they refused to authorize help. It seems people only went in once they discovered where the Ambassador’s body was. Maybe I don’t have all of this 100 percent accurate but that’s the picture I get from reading various sites.

I hear a lot about Rasmussen. He was considered most accurate for the “2008” election. How did he compare to other elections then? The University of Colorado prediction of the electoral college is said to be very accurate numbers wise for all elections since 1980. They are leaning Romney. Dick Morris says he knows a pollster that has been accurate for the last 40 years. He didn’t name that person. Then there’s Zogby (biased for Democrats) whom I remember had made some outrageous statements when W ran that were untrue in hopes of swaying that election. Newsmax.com lets him have a column and he’s at it again this year.

Here’s a fun read. I got the link from another free republic member’s post:
