'Not even my wife knows': secret Donald Trump voters speak out We asked Guardian readers who are voting for Trump why they support him. From firm conservatives to fed-up liberals, their answers were revealing Thursday 3 March 2016 08.30 EST Last modified on Thursday 3 March 2016 09.06 EST The scientist who likes both Bernie and Donald (48, California) ‘I’m very concerned about radical Muslims’ I moved to San Francisco from the UK in 2000. "Among people likely to vote in the Republican primary, people are 86.5 percent more likely to prefer Donald Trump as the first-choice nominee relative to all the others if they “somewhat” or “strongly agree” that “people like me don't have any say about what the government does.” Using statistical techniques, we can conclude that this increased preference for Trump is over and beyond any preferences based on respondent gender, age, race/ethnicity, employment status, educational attainment, household income, attitudes towards Muslims, attitudes towards illegal immigrants, or attitudes towards Hispanics." "Trump also beats Cruz among likely primary voters who have liberal positions...

Ahmed ‘Clock Kid’ Mohamed Visits the Butcher of Darfur By Ian Tuttle — October 16, 2015 Is anyone saving Darfur these days? You might remember Darfur. Just a few years ago, it was all the rage. There were t-shirts, postcards, and tote bags. There was an Amnesty International compilation album with songs by U2, Jackson Browne, and the Black Eyed Peas. There were baby onesies. Celebrities were all about saving Darfur. In April 2006, thousands of people gathered on the National Mall to urge the Bush administration to intervene. Among the speakers was George Clooney, who a few months later...

THE AMERICAN LAWN NEEDS TO DIE BY ERIC NICHOLSONWEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2015 My first inkling that America's lawn obsession might not be terribly healthy came around 1995. We'd just moved into a new house in Far North Dallas, and 10- or 11-year-old me decided that the next-door neighbor's lawn — green and smooth as flawless as a golf-course fairway with manicured grass to cushion falls — was the perfect spot for football. The neighbor, a hard-nosed high school track coach, promptly ran us off and upbraided my father for letting me trespass. This struck me as backward. What good was...

A few key takeaways: 1. Almost all of the recent vote surge for O is in the East, which is uniformly (D) anyway 2. In this, the final poll, Romney leads in the Midwest – for the very first time; massive voter swing – he leads in 3 of 4 regions (Midwest, West, & South). This is KEY. Romney has not led in the Midwest in any Gallup survey until this one. This is the key to the election. 3. Romney has firmed up the (R) base to an almost unprecedented degree – but so has Obama on the (D)...

    1. Here are the 2008 early vote totals from the early voting project at George Mason http://elections.gmu.edu/early_vote_2008.html 2. Download the Excel Spreadsheet on Early Voting from OH SOS http://www.sos.state.oh.us/SOS/Upload/news/2012/Early_Voting_Report_2012-11-02.xls 3. You will notice that OH early voting is just like VA early voting. Cuyahoga and Summit are 2 of the top 4 Democratic counties. Cuyahoga is at 95% of 2008 totals and Summit just about the same at 100% of 2008 totals. On average across the state, about a 2-3% decline in Democratic counties. 4. But look at the Republican counties. They are little by themselves but they add up....

The poll showed the race for Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes locked up at 47 percent in its final week. Romney was scheduled to campaign in the Philadelphia area on Sunday, and former President Bill Clinton planned to stump for Obama on Monday. The campaigns have...

Romney will win Pennsylvania Posted By Michael Hudome On 3:43 PM 11/02/2012 @ 3:43 PM In Opinion | No Comments Despite all the hype, it’s going to be a short election night. The Keystone State is the key reason. Pennsylvania will go for Governor Mitt Romney. Reasonable prognosticators — and even the MSNBC crowd — will realize once the results are in from Pennsylvania that the other three time zones won’t matter. Once upon a time, Pennsylvania was a pivotal swing state. But in recent years it has been reliably Democratic in presidential elections. Certain other patterns have persisted as...

Analysis: Film at heart of Libya attack may be fake By JPOST.COM STAFF 09/13/2012 03:57 Offensive references to Islam sloppily inserted in post-production; film's cast and crew say original plot unrelated to religion. Details casting doubt on the authenticity of the controversial film Innocence of Muslims, which sparked protests in Cairo and spurred the Libya attack that killed US Ambassador Christopher Stevens, mounted on Wednesday. A series of facts brought to light by online media such as Gawker, Buzzfeed and blogs on CNN, The Atlantic, and The Christian Science Monitor paint the picture of a possible hoax. In the film's...
