I just always figured black kids wanted to be “light black” in the same way that white girls tan to be as “dark white” as possible.

Maybe it comes from anchoring, and everybody wants to shift to the middle and away from extremes, or maybe girls are just being superficial girls (and some vain guys follow along as society becomes more and more effeminate).

If you’re in a free state, fill out the number in your household. No groupthink info for race-baiting, preference-pushing, set-aside-seeking parasites and their racial spoils system.

If you’re in an urban failure, just trash it. They’re losing population but making up for it in gerrymandering, illegal aliens, and vote fraud. The sooner they lose reps the better.

I wouldn’t consider the firewall alone to be adequate. It’s basically a shield against someone scanning for open computers to attack, but I don’t believe you’re secure from malicious scripts and stuff like that from web pages you visit.

If you have a home network and are behind a router (wireless or just the kind you plug your network cables into), that’s the best possible firewall, because your computer is literally invisible to outsiders. Instead of having addresses to the outside world, your computer(s) would just have internal ones the router uses. To the world you’d just show up as a router, which makes no sense to attack since it doesn’t execute code like a computer. Legitimate info is routed appropriately by the router, but any attack is just like junk mail being delivered to a hotel lobby.

Of the 3 free programs I recommended, I use Avast. It was literally a several minute process. I looked through the options to see that it was set up to update automatically and not harass me about whatever, and haven’t given a second thought to it since.

It sits there doing its thing, updating as necessary, without any action on my part. If I hit a questionable link it’ll intervene by popping up a message saying it’s found something, and I continue about my business with the crisis averted.

  • Two reasons for a dying Detroit: Monica Conyers convicted felon; Rep. Rashida Tlaib rabid Marxist

    03/17/2010 7:02:39 AM PDT · 10 of 20
    BobbyT to jmaroneps37; All

    Here’s another symptom:

Below are actual lines from the head of the Detroit Public Schools, Otis Mathis. Not casual notes either, these are verbatim from mass emails to parent and teacher groups.

“If you saw Sunday’s Free Press that shown Robert Bobb the emergency financial manager for Detroit Public Schools, move Mark Twain to Boynton which have three times the number seats then students and was one of the reason’s he gave for closing school to many empty seats.
    ...
Do DPS control the Foundation or outside group? If an outside group control the foundation, then what is DPS Board row with selection of is director? Our we mixing DPS and None DPS row’s, and who is the watch dog?”

There are another 6 or so paragraphs/sentences (strings of words?) that go about like that, with a plea at the end to contact the media, the pastors, and the “Superintended”.

He “graduated” from a Detroit high school with a 0.98 GPA, and then went to Wayne State, the only public college in Detroit, a city he’s never left. He spent several years there suing over their basic English proficiency test, required for graduation.

The lawsuits didn’t work, so he stayed for 15 (fifteen) years and then quit. After he was elected to the school board, in 2007 Wayne dropped the requirement, so he “applied for” his degree. He now holds a BS in “Criminal of Justice” (his words).

His current approach to fixing Detroit consists of several ideas:

First, reinstating the recently ended “social promotion” program of giving diplomas to kids who couldn’t read, because not graduating calls attention to a student’s illiteracy. The program was ended by the emergency manager appointed by the state to make sure changes were being made.

Second, fighting any outside oversight. There had been talk of the state taking control of the schools, but Mathis didn’t feel the 25% graduation stat was a good enough threshold. He was asked at a forum if every single student failing out would justify oversight, and answered no.

Third, he’s vigorously pursuing additional federal money. Detroit already spends $13,000 per kid per year, vs. a national average of $8-9000, but apparently its teachers’ unions are the best place to throw that “stimulus” education money. There are 90,000 students left in Detroit, and the $100 billion schools are supposed to “compete” for should just be given to a place that really needs it.

Bit it up and *offer* it down.

And it takes money to do that, the same as if you try to move Intel stock or oil or any other market. Of course, Intrade contracts are going to be a lot less liquid.

Apparently in 2004 someone market ordered Bush presidential contracts all the way to zero to try to manipulate the market. The article I read was saying this would’ve taken hundreds of thousands of dollars to do.

Naturally it rebounded, and apparently came all the way back to where it was. So basically somebody just gave everyone else incredibly cheap buys—the same as happens when someone tries to artificially move any other market.

The F-16 dominates everything else on earth.

And the F-22 wipes the floor with the F-16. It’s not a matter of air superiority—yes, it out maneuvers the F-16, but that’s not even necessary.

In training exercises, F-22s are able to take out F-16s when outnumbered by a factor of 3 or 4. The F-16s don’t even get to “play”. They basically fly around until the F-22s call to tell them they’ve been blown out of the sky.

Supposedly the F-22 can locate the F-16, “kill” it, and then fly over it making visual contact before the F-16 detects it.

And Barry has canceled the program. Wouldn’t want complete air superiority over future threats, that would warrant another American apology. Better we be on a level playing field, and one step closer to dependency on stagnant Europe.

When you left work you had a 99.99% chance of getting home safely to your family, and now your attacker has dragged you into a situation where you have even odds at best.

Therefore, you have zero interest in “fairness” or “proportional response”—you never volunteered for a 50/50 chance of death today, so you should use any stick, knife, bottle, bat, gun, truck, or killer attack bear within reach to stop the threat.

    Something doesn’t add up here.

718 hp, <3300 pounds, all wheel drive, and it takes 3.2 seconds to hit 60?

The 911 turbo weighs 3500, has 500 hp, and claims 3.1 seconds.

The GT2 weighs 3200, is RWD, has 520 hp, and claims 3.2 seconds.

The weight on this 918 must be wrong, because batteries are incredibly heavy, and there are the motors as well. I would guess it’s more like 3800, and the hybrid gear just makes up for its own weight.

In that case, I’d say dump it, and make for a significantly lighter car with the 9200 rpm 500 hp V8. That would make for a very interesting alternative to the twin turbo flat 6.

HR 45 is pushed every year by Bobby Rush, the former Black Panther, militant separatist, and violent felon, but it hasn’t made any headway.

Chitcago’s pistol ban and onerous registration are about to get thrown out by the Supreme Court (McDonald v Chicago starts this week), and once they rule that cities and states can’t trample 2nd Amendment rights, I don’t see how IL’s complete ban on bearing arms will stand.

While I’m sure they’d like any and every infringement and ban they can get, they’re going to have enough trouble just trying to slow the restoration of our rights—much less piling on new restrictions.

The suit itself only concerns possession in the home, not carrying.

However, Heller already said that “the people” in “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” refers to individuals (sad they had to say that, but it’s official now).

This case is deciding whether states & cities have to respect that right, or if it’s just the feds that can’t trample it (again, sad, but it is what it is).

So if they say 2A applies to the states, I don’t see how they’ll be able to separate the “keep” from the “bear”. I’m sure they’ll try, but they’ll lose in court. Some people think IL will rush to implement the most restrictive and expensive carry law they can in order not to simply have its laws scrapped in court.

Given the alternate universe Chitcago and Crook County politicians live in, I could see them being arrogant enough to keep blocking RTC laws and sticking their heads in the sand, until a lawsuit brings permitless Alaska and Vermont style carry to everyone overnight.

That’s because “conservative” and “Liberal” (big-L) have such warped definitions here.

There is absolutely nothing liberal about the group calling itself “Liberal”. They are the Party of Government.

They used to only want to control your wallet, while giving lip service to speech/expression, but even that hasn’t been the case for some time. They’re the ones who push all the cutesy ways of getting around the 1st Amendment (FCC, “hate” speech, “political” speech, “commercial” speech, “artistic” speech, PBS, NPR, NEA, “equal time”, “localism”, etc).

My views are very “liberal”. That is, I want to be left alone, with strong individual rights and personal liberties, and a very constrained government. That makes me a “conservative”.

Our Founding Fathers are sometimes referred to as “classical liberals”—to distinguish them from (non)Liberals who seek to undo every check they placed on government and undermine every individual freedom they supported.

“classical liberal”, “libertarian”, or “conservative”, at the end of the day you either side with Individual Rights and Freedoms, or Omnipotent Government and Control.

The payments in have no connection to the payments out. The majority of those who (chronically) use it pay in an irrelevant pittance and are getting paid out large welfare checks. Those who never use it pay in very disproportionate amounts.
