    I think if a miracle happened and Obama was actually impeached and removed, it might put a little fear of repercussions into the presidency, and re-establish the old idea of separation of powers. Ever since Bill Clinton got away with everything that he did, it has seemed no one is courageous enough to stand up to a president, which essentially gives them dictatorial powers. (If you “think” you have the power, and no one is willing to stop you , in essence , you do. Doesn’t matter that we have an amazingly brilliant, inspired by God constitution, if we have cowards who won’t enforce separation of powers and holding to account for “treason, bribery and high crimes and misdemeanors”. )I bet there is a money trail that issues of bribery could be pursued too.

    That is why I think it is absolutely critical that the Sentate stands up, impeaches and convicts Obama, Valerie Jarret and the rest of the criminal Marxist/muslim thugs running this country.

    Never again must we have any one person with so much power and no fear at all of legal boundaries and the rule of law. If he is allowed to serve out his term with no consequences, the next Democrate thug that takes office will be that much worse ( I guarantee the Dems will run someone from some “victim” group that no one dares to hold to the rule of law or criticize, a woman:Hillary? A black woman?)

    That judge is trying to make a name for himself in liberal la la land. I was SO mad and disappointed when he won the election, but I had no idea he’d turn out this bad. I grew up in Dallas and still live not far from there and it’s a shame what is going on.

    Christopher Hatley’s book, written in 2009, is an excellent treatise on the subject. He foresaw the health dangers even then, as well as national security issues, drug cartels, etc.

    A Revelation of Vulnerability

    “Provide for the Common Defence,” caught me totally off-guard. What I assumed would be a simple treatise on the deficiencies of U.S. border security, was instead a multi-faceted revelation of errors, threats, misconceptions, vulnerabilities, and predictions of things to come, good or bad, depending upon our future plans and actions. The book presented not only a revelation but a solution as well, and not just any solution, but a well-thought-out, researched, and supported solution that I believe would be well received by a majority of Americans, should it be proposed.
    The author, Christopher Hatley, came well-equipped to handle the task of creating this book, as a West Point graduate, a three-decade veteran of the U.S. Army, and a trainer of military decision-making processes. From reading his book, it became apparent that he has a deep-seated knowledge of the content, meanings, and principles within our nation’s Constitution, supporting documents, and legislative system. The book reflects Hatley’s intuitive insight into the problems at hand, along with his investigative analysis and strategies based on military, political, economic, diplomatic, and philosophical observations and findings.
    The book touches on many topics related to or affected by border security, revealing shocking facts and figures that will quickly remove any sense of safety and security that you once had, and removing all thoughts that we as a nation are strong and protected on all sides. I was shocked to discover the massive size, sophistication, and corruptive support of the Mexican drug cartels. I was surprised to find that the cartels are using mini-submarines, that are virtually undetectable, to carry 12 to 15 tons of narcotics up to 2000 miles through Caribbean waters into the U.S. I was also surprised to find that the cartels now have advanced regular army military units and advanced hardware, and have attempted to purchase Russian helicopters and Tango-class submarines.
    Christopher Hatley travelled to both sides of the border towns along the California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas borders to observe and analyze the security practices being used there. His findings were deeply disturbing to me, making me want to rush through the book to get to his suggested solutions. He writes about human trafficking of Mexican nationals into the U.S. and trafficking of human slaves into both the U.S and into Mexico and beyond for labor and prostitution. He writes about the Mexican border as a gateway for terrorists into the U.S. and methods they use to gain entrance. He writes about infectious diseases entering the U.S. and the threats they impose.
    Most importantly, Hatley talks about what is being done and not being done about border security, and talks about why there is a difficulty in reaching a consensus of opinion and a proactive approach to a solution. He offers up a well-thought-out, researched and documented solution that I believe should be on the desk right now of our nation’s political and military leaders. This book is filled with the wisdom that our nation needs to survive, and we owe it to ourselves to make sure that it is read.
    The next time Christopher Hatley runs for any office, I will surely vote for him, and would encourage citizens of Texas and of any other state in the U.S., who want to put people with his knowledge and credentials in office, to do the same.
    A final word to the wise - read this book and encourage others to do the same. We all owe it to our families and our heirs.

    Got the wive home now. As you may have assumed, the situation was a true cluster eff.

    Plane full of Liberians, many unaccompanied minors. Basically, they are fleeing their country to get here, sick OR well.

    She was sitting about 6 rows in front of the guy, and the smell was quite evident from the sick.

    CDC; Customs; they had NO PLAN.

    Customs just kept telling everyone that directions were coming directly from the White House (now don’t that make you all warm and fuzzy ?)

    People had already gotten through customs when the started a panic announcement to all Customs agents NOT to process anyone from this flight.

    The patient is still not cleared as free from Ebola.

    They took names and numbers, and sent all the other passengers on their way.

    Again, thanks for all your kind thoughts and prayers. I guess time will tell now !

    There is no way anyone from the infected countries in West Africa should be allowed to travel, period.

    Meanwhile, four years ago, the administration of President Barack Obama moved with virtually no fanfare to abandon a comprehensive set of regulations which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had called essential to preventing international travelers from spreading deadly diseases inside the United States.

    The CDC had proposed the regulations in 2005 under the administration of George W. Bush, reported USA Today in 2010. The original impetus for the regulations was fear that avian flu would spread unchecked.

    The regulations proposed under the Bush administration would have granted the federal government a power of “provisional quarantine” to confine airline passengers involuntarily for up to three days if they exhibit symptoms of certain infectious diseases. Federal officials would also have been able to quarantine passengers exposed to people with those symptoms.

    There was a fairly long list of diseases. It included smallpox, yellow fever, diphtheria, pandemic flu, infectious tuberculosis, cholera — and viral fevers such as Ebola.

    Before the Obama administration withdrew the proposed new rules, CDC officials had emphasized that they would only invoke the involuntary “provisional quarantine” when someone exhibiting a set of symptoms refused to work with federal officials voluntarily.

    The proposed rules also would have compelled airlines to inform the CDC about sick passengers and to maintain contact information about all fliers in case the CDC and other federal agencies need to investigate a serious disease outbreak.

    Airline lobbyists vehemently opposed the regulations. It would be too expensive, they said.

    “We think that the CDC was right to withdraw the proposed rule,” Air Transport Association spokeswoman Elizabeth Merida told USA Today in March 2010. Merida also called the regulations “unprecedented” in terms of cost and red tape.

    Civil liberties advocates also strongly opposed the CDC regulations.

    “The fact that they’re backing away from this very coercive style of quarantine is good news,” ACLU legislative counsel Christopher Calabrese said in 2010, according to USA Today.

    Other critics suggested that air travel regulations make no difference concerning disease outbreaks.

    “They probably learned during H1N1 that this hope of preventing diseases from entering the country by stationing people at airports is unrealistic,” Jennifer Nuzzo of the Center for Biosecurity at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center told the newspaper.

    The H1N1 flu virus caused a worldwide pandemic in 2009.

    The first man in the United States to be diagnosed with the deadly Ebola virus is Thomas Eric Duncan. He picked up the virus after traveling to Liberia in September.

    The State Department has dismissed calls for restricting travel from West Africa.

    “I don’t believe that’s something we’re considering,” a Foggy Bottom spokeswoman said this week, according to The Washington Times.

    Remembering getting bundled up to go see Santa and see all the little moving elf/toy displays in the windows at Neiman Marcus downtown. Yes, I remember driving to Richardson, it seemed like it was WAY out in the country back then.

    I lived in the Fair Oaks area for a while right out of college. Fun, clean, pretty safe still then. Mr. Boxlunch and I used to go out to eat at a different restaurant every Friday night.

    I’m confused about the timeline and the claims about it not being communicable until symptoms show.

    If there is a possible second ebola patient in Dallas (read about on another thread today, don’t know if confirmed) who is already showing symptoms (who caught it from Duncan), then WHENwould that 2nd patient have been exposed? They keep assuring us that Duncan wasn’t infectious until showing symptoms just a few days ago, but I thought there is an incubation period. Which means the other person exposed caught it several days earlier during the supposedly still “safe” timeframe. Or else this is an extremely fast incubating version of the virus that goes from exposure to symptoms in just a few days.

    No that is not quite correct. We actually we attended HPPC at that time of the vote and split. A majority voted to leave PCUSA, but it needed a supermajority (something like 66% or 75%, don’t remember exactly) to actually leave. So it was really unfortunate in that even though a majority wanted to leave PCUSA, we couldn’t because didn’t have quite enough.

    How about if we make reparations by offering to send the lot of them back to Africa with a nice bag of cash, and the caveat they may never ever ever return to the United States.
    Wonder how many would take us up on the offer?
    Oh, and add that after “Reparations” day, there will be an end to all welfare, food stamps, subsidies, EBT cards, etc. So take your wad of cash and go, or stay and be a civilized adult. work, and stop your whining. I think even with a fairly substantial

    I have a friend who is brilliant at saving money. (She’s a CPA, wife and mom of 3 older teens). Since our income has nosedived in the last few years, she’s given me lots of tips on saving money.
    One of the biggest expenses in a food budget, she says,(from her many many years of counseling clients and her own experience) is eating out.

    Many of the tips mentioned in reply to your post are exactly what she’s recommended to me. Buying in bulk, dividing/freezintg, making things from scratch. She said avoid eating out and pre-processed/packaged foods as that is what really runs up the expense. You can eat well, healthy and delicious meals by cooking in scratch and buying in bulk. Plus its fun to cook and eat together!

    Our country would save money in the long run if we offered $10,000 and a one way ticket to an African homeland country to any who wished to take us up on the offer.
    These stipulations:

    Our border is closed with a fence and guards (north and south) illegal immigration is halted , legal immigration is replaced with a saner policy -no more importing people from countries and cultures with nothing in common with traditional Americans.....Before this goes into effect.

    What we should have done in 1866
